Daniel Jones compares to some great QBs

Like Jones but these are stupid.

As bad as dumbass Colin Kaepernick retweeting someone who compared his QB Rating to John Elway when the Broncos wouldn't sign his ass.
It’s logical
UConn4523 : 12/17/2022 10:23 am : link
.
Looking at the stats is one thing,
smshmth8690 : 12/17/2022 10:24 am : link
but it's so difficult to compare QB's from different eras due to all the rule changes.
Could you imagine the numbers some of the all0time greats would put up now?
With that being said, the numbers look pretty good considering the condition of the OL, and WR's he's had to play with.
Wow, it's almost as if playing in different eras
Producer : 12/17/2022 10:24 am : link
under totally different rules, might result in a bad QB putting statistics that are comparable to great QBs.

We should definitely pay Daniel Jones like he's an all-time great.
So does Mitch Trubisky
rsjem1979 : 12/17/2022 10:25 am : link
There’s probably a list a mile long of similar comparisons. That’s what makes this worthless.
This is fucking idiotic
Mike from Ohio : 12/17/2022 10:30 am : link
Do you notice how he is not being compared to any modern day QBs?

Todays NFL has been set up to make passing easy. QB stats have gone through the roof. Jones isn’t on pace with any good modern QBs, but he is on pace with guys from 20-40 years ago!

Yay!
Hopefully you are just spamming BBI with this shit
ZogZerg : 12/17/2022 10:34 am : link
If you really think you can compare QBs that play in 2020s to those that played in the 1960s - 1980s, you are clueless. The game is completely different.

Can you at least search stats and comparisons for QBs that started in this century?
I love that they included Sammy Baugh
Producer : 12/17/2022 10:35 am : link
who was born before WWI.

It's almost as if this chart is sarcastically trolling Jones diehards.
The only real conclusion you can draw from this is how
mfjmfj : 12/17/2022 10:40 am : link
great Montana was. Or at least how great the system was. His numbers actually do compare to modern day quarterbacks, which is amazing. You want to really feel good about Jones compare him to Phil Simms first 4 years. They are a ton better. And for those who didn't watch, DJ has played much better in his first four years than Phil Simms did in his first 4.
I'm pretty sure
Spiciest Memelord : 12/17/2022 10:42 am : link
both Simms and Eli were throwing wobbly ducks in their first few years.
Bart Starr? Sammy Bough?!?!?
sb from NYT Forum : 12/17/2022 10:44 am : link
How about Sid Luckman or Jim Thorpe?

So freakin stupid.
I sense the sarcasm from OP
Sean : 12/17/2022 10:49 am : link
.
Next do Barkley and
TheEvilLurker : 12/17/2022 10:49 am : link
Jim Brown!
It took Daniel Jones
eclipz928 : 12/17/2022 10:52 am : link
an additional 333 pass attempts just to have roughly the same number of TD's as Drew Brees....and then the next year the Chargers drafted a QB in the first round and let Drew Brees walk. Interesting.
Statistics aside
giantBCP : 12/17/2022 10:54 am : link
The mediocre W-L record of several Super Bowl winning QBs across their first 4 seasons is the only telling thing about this graphic.
It is nothing short of egregious that Schoen and Daboll
NYGgolfer : 12/17/2022 10:54 am : link
didn't rely on this same type of analysis before deciding to pass on the 5th year option.

Four posts up.
What I get from the Chart
Archer : 12/17/2022 11:08 am : link
What I get is that players even great players take time to develop.
Not all QBs are lights out their first few years and that it can take time for a player to reach their potential

What it critical is the QBs trending did the QB show improvement ?

People still do it in modern times.

"X record was broken!" (Or team record)

Yeah no shit. Easy, laxed rules and more games played. When bums like Dak can outperform Aikman, you know the plate is slanted.
The only player comparison that is interesting
Daniel in Kentucky : 12/17/2022 11:28 am : link

Similar situation, close to the same number of games with similar production.

Would be a better indicator of TDs, Interceptions, attempts and completions. Also completion percentage varies by era.

I am still a Jones supporter but why not include Brady, Eli, Big Ben, and Rivers? This comparison should include all the franchise QBs in the pas 20 years that the fans want to see Jones become. Even if Jones ended up in the bottom third of the list, it would still be favorable to him.

The rookie contract, especially with the 5th year being fully gtd, has greatly reduced the leash teams are willing to give.
What about George E. Prendergast Jr.

I grabbed some data on QB first 50 starts and you can see it on Google Docs. Jones comes in at the 40% mark for first 50 starts. If you look at career data he is at 46%. Seems to indicate slightly better than average quarterback

I feel the need to remind you from time to time that your definition of “ bad quarterback “ is opinion regardless of how often you present it as fact

I don’t think your view is shared in NFL circles the proof of which will present itself this off season.
So Daniel Jones

Keep the detestable Jones debate going. Very intellectual thread though. How smart you are. You happy now? And I am for Jones, and this was ridiculous to put out. People are dug in, they are not changing their minds, and if you are arguing with someone, this isn't going to change a thing. Let this play out, we know the Giants are going to keep Jones, so try to keep it humble, your going to be proven out in tbr end, when it counts, solet it play out and cut the bullshit.
How about a Sid Luckman comparison

Stick it sideway up your ass pal.

I found a chart. It relates to the QB of the New York Giants, so I posted it. I do not profess for Jones or against. You will not find anywhere where I argue for or against. You seem to have laid at my feet that I am on some mission. I am not

So once again, I found a chart. I posted it. For discussion. And again I say to you, stick it directly up your ass, sideways.

Can’t stand it when comparisons are made from different eras. The ball Sammy Baugh, Otto Graham , Connerly threw was a beach ball compared to the more streamlined version of todays ball

That’s true, except Jones probably wouldn’t have played over Scott Brunner. I mean, when do people actually look objectively at this guy. The other NFCE fan bases very much hope Jones is the long term Giants qb.
