Are playing as good as ANY big 2 in the ENTIRE NBA is they are at an elite level creating their own shot and also at an elite level making heavily contested shots right now.

Yup and both can move off the ball and are just as dangerous and they are both willing passers

Absolutely! Barrett is practically the only clear negative right now. Often everything flows better when he is not out there.
to hit my hand on the ceiling. Didn’t know I had that kinda vertical.
The number of off balance contested shots that both Randle and Brunson have made this year are insane. Randle especially. His core strengthening and balance work has paid off huge

The biggest difference in Randle, imo, is working with the sports psychologist.
Then buries a step back 3 with a hand in his face for his 43rd point on only 25 shots. I've been watching since the late 70's. If there have been 5 better regular season Knick performances I haven't seen them.
holy crap this is fun, this team jist continues to fight, easily could of started to let go of the rope when Brunson went out and Miami had all momentume and the Knicks just kept fighting back..
Boston will be tough on Sunday but right now i dont care

this has been insane and im in love watching this team play, everyone in this rotation is fun to watch and busts ass, maybe not Rj but its not time to rip on him lol.
This team plays with serious heart and is so easy to root for. honestly id love to keep the streak going against the celtics but right now its just free money if we can pull it off.
Im so excited for the rest of the season and playoffs
Yeah this kinda felt like a loss in the second half.
Poor defense, bad shots, bad whistle, too many turnovers, Brunson banged up, momentum on Miami’s side - a lot to overcome. Takes all the pressure off the Boston game - if you lose, just take care of business against Charlotte before heading out West.

Boston is not playing great right now. Sure NYK could get their A game like they did Miami but mannn are we on fire right now. Hopefully Brunsons ankle is ok. Those ankles can blow up the next day.

Knicks can beat Boston. Bucks are the team they don't match up with.
If you want to nitpick, the two biggest weaknesses right now
I think I was more annoyed by those assholes looking at that and not overturning it than I was a happy that Julius rainbow went in. What’s the fucking point of replay of horseshit like that doesn’t get overturned?!?!
Hell of a game and a better finish.
RE: RE: Quickleys arm had no effect on him losing the ball

I know a couple NFL refs that i used to work with in college and they tell me all the time there are officials that hate overturning calls, they will look for anything not to overturn..
I have to assume its the same with NBA refs..the fact you dont overturn that is ridiculous, the fact you called it a foul in the first place is ridiculous
Mitch or Hart get the offensive rebound with time for the putback
A long, high arc 3 like that could have easily had a high or long rebound and with only one second left the clock either expires or it’s an incredibly difficult relatively long range tap attempt It was a miracle shot - I woke up the house and we don’t watch all that many Knicks games. Fun game.

'Miracle' shot or increasingly common shot for Randle this year? I have never seen him make so many high difficulty shots in his entire career. Behind the backboard turnaround shots, fadeaway jumpers with a guy all over him, one handed 15 foot floaters while getting fouled. Step back 3s, deep 3's. His body balance, release and focus right now on these high difficulty attempts is the stuff you see from the top 5-6 players in the NBA.
His 20-21 campaign many thought would be a year he would never touch again performance-wise. He is having an even better year than that one. The good defensive teams not only have a good defender already on him but routinely send doubles his way on top of that. He is still dropping 30+ on them and making some fantastic cross court passes for wide open 3s as well out of them.
This team just continues to prove they can win in different ways, it didnt feel like a smooth game offensivelt, it felt sloppy and clunky, yet they still scored 122..
Brunson is tough as nails, he could of easily sat in the back with an ankle sprain and no one would of said anything. Instead he comes back, taped up, and was clutch again in the 4th scoring 8 points and answering every score the hest had, finishing with 25 on effeciemt scoring again..
Rj did not have a terrible game 8-15 but his outside shot 0-4 needs to be better. I thought quickley should of closed and i think he came back with a minute and a half left but i didnt think he should kf came out at all. At this point i jist dont trust Rj to make the right play on either end but for today just say good game..
Quickley is an absolute stud, dude plays hard on both ends, he got 2 quick fouls esrly and had to be taken out but came back in the 2nd and just went off. He just brings another energy and its not ball dominant either, its both, he can tske the ball, give Brunson a rest or he can play off Brunson perfectly and teams habe to respect him. Quickley is just on another level right now.
Hart didnt score much, he had some timely buckets in transition but he does everything else, 7 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals and a block +16..He doesnt need to score to effect the game and he is the type of player every great team needs, he dont care about shots, he is ok doing all the little things that help a team win..
last but certainly not least: Julius Randle was an absolute superstsr tonight, in the 1st just dominating one of the best defensive players in the game and it just continued all game. The heat then tried Butler on Randle which allowed Brunson some space to go off a little bit but in the ckutch where we habe all ripped him, he scored 8 points and none bigger than the stepback 3. He is a monster right now and when he has it going from 3, he is impossible to guard..
Celtics struggle with athletic, fast teams, they have good defenders but the Celtics want to beat you up defensively and if Tatum or Brown is off they struggle..
He has been the least clutch player I have ever watched.
He needed that shot to take the next step in his career and hopefully the monkey is off his back.

Starting Horford at the 4 is a mistake to me
nets had a great second half, played harder then celtics. bridges looked again like a stud. the team was just put together.... thus will have some games when they look amazing (beating full strength Celtics in prime time on the road)--- and some where they look terrible. in the end the hope is to be more cohesive and get a first round playoff matchup.
the nets have a lot of guys that can give a go at the celtics wing scoring--- that is the strength of the team. they struggle against size and quickness.
if they do make the playoffs, no team will enjoy the series if they are playing their defensive physical game on the wing
so I was watching it on the Miami telecast. Since I've been streaming and watching games on other teams broadcasts, I get to hear a lot of different announcers. Miami's is so dumb, after every 3, the announcer says....KABOOM. It's so forced and stupid, I was embarrassed for him.
My favorite by far has been the Nets team of Ian Eagle and Sarah Kustok.
The worst has been the Hawks(Rathbun, dominique wilkins and vince carter).
He has been the least clutch player I have ever watched.
He needed that shot to take the next step in his career and hopefully the monkey is off his back.
It was complete luck. Randle was awesome last night and very determined on both sides of the court. He's become such a complete player, but he's one of the worst closers we've had. He had a brutal turnover the possession before and then almost turned that one over before the chuck. Went from what should have been an easy win to a possible heartbreaking loss to a lucky win even though they deserved to win.
Jimmy Butler is just a winner and a great player, but some of those calls were just stupid. It's like they couldn't wait for the opportunity to call a foul on him and send him to the line.

I don't have league pass any more but when I used to it was startling how bad other teams' announce crews were. We've had horrible teams at MSG but our telecasts have always been top notch.

Lets be fair Randle not only hit the 3 but he had a clutch 5 points inckuding the 3 point play to put them up 3 and then the refs made a terrible call..
He also had an easy pass that Mitch dropped where he would of had dunk..
You can call it luck or whatever on the last shot but he has hit those step back 3s all year and was hot from 3 all game
last night he played very well...Thibs sensed that we needed scoring down the stretch and went to RJ,for his ability to break down the defender and get to the painted area.
Thibs was correct.
Everybody hates on the guy and some nights he deserves it.

Randle was amazing last night. However, he is terrible in closing games. Yes mitch dropped an easy pass. Yes, he had a 3 pt play(on a bad shot attempt), but you cannot turn the ball over in the final minute and he almost did twice. He was lucky the ball bounced back to him the 2nd time.
He struggled a lot staying in front of Herro and gave him too much space to operate and run the Heat offense. Thibs made the switch to IQ very late in the game to slow them down, so Miami went to Butler late

Randle is having a great season but if I'm the other team I WANT him handling the ball late in the game playing hero ball. We've seen it fail more often than not. A lot more.

His outside shot is sooo off right now. He has these little spurts where its on but thats it. I want him shooting from the outside only if he is in a groove. His drives while sometime terrible decisions also can be excellent as well though. He needs to focus more there with the spacing that he gets from this offense.
On your Julius point you are 100% right... it was almost like play Randle for 3Q but cross your fingers in the 4th. Uhuh not lately...Last nights game winner was an epic finish to a maestro performance.

Not going to argue that, was shocked Miami switched Butler on him, it allowed Brunson to take Oladipo
early fouls, but 22 mins for him vs. 29 for RJ is absurd. IQ is the 3rd best player on this team.
IQ is the 3rd best player but we also have to continue to give RJ some level of confidence too. We can't go to wild cutting his minutes. I actually think Thibs rotations have been masterful of late. Only nitpick would be playing RJ a bit less but you can't remove him entirely from the equation either. He does rrally break down the D well on his drives for the most part and he just needs to really continue to work on his outside shot and only shoot when open from deep. And minimize the number of outside shots vs drives IF he is not in a groove.

Played very well? Did we watch the same game.
If you are being honest about RJ right now, his effort level isn't there. He's not hustling back on D ( he watches his bricks with his hand up a lot), he dies on every screen, and teams are helping off him a ton and not respecting his 3pt shot for spacing. If this continues, he will be hunted on defense in the playoffs 100%.
I can understand the need to give him minutes to try to get his game back up, but there is no universe he is playing very well right now.

This ^ I dont care about miss shots, miss shots happen, its taking bad shots forcing play, its bad defense, its being lazy going around screens, its not attacking the glass, its holding your arm up when if you chased you had a rebound..
Its all of the little things, the constant need to take bad shots at the worst fricken times..
I dont think he is willing to accpet he is the 3rd option but if he wants to stay on this team passed this year he needs to check the ego and realize he is the 3rd option and start doing the little things..
Rj is in for a rude awakening come playoff time when guys play 40 minutes and he is playing 10 or 15
the Knicks would obviously want him. He may even want to come to the Knicks. But there's other teams out there with more picks than we've accumulated. And if you thought Ainge was tough to deal with...Morey may actually be worse.

I agree. The other side of the game is that the Knicks blew a 15 point lead because they could not score after a great first half. The winning shot was great but also lucky. Randle and Brunson both turned the ball over in the last 90 seconds and Randle almost turned it over twice.
So, the game exposed some flaws.Knicks lack guys who can both score and defend and because of that, they have trouble closing games out.
That said, it was still an amazing win and Knicks have been on the other side of games like this many times. So Ill take it.
Larry Bird's average PER was 23.5
Julius Randle's PER this season 21.4
PG Kevin Johnson's average PER was 20.7
Jalen Brnson PER this season 21.3
I rest my case
Bird won back to back to back MVPs...he did everything at the top level.Rebound,Score,Defense,hustle...and was clutch
TBH I would take him to take the last shot of a tie game 7 over anyone ever in the history of the game...even more so if you are down 1
is at it again I see. Not gonna get my hopes up, but it's nice to know we have a damn good team to fall back on either way. Hopefully Morey at least ships him out West, if not NY. Get Philly out of that top four in the East while the Knicks ascend.

You would think someone is going to want to come here and right now Embiid looks like the most obvious..
I love Lavine but i dont think Knicks will trade Rj for him and no thank you to towns

And if we're gonna call Randle's shot lucky and say he fumbled the ball then you also have to admit the Heat were fortunate to not have a foul called on about 3 separate occasions before Randle even shot the ball.

I think Durant was a lock to the Knicks for a certain point in time but I get your point. He was also the first I heard in the media with Lebron to the Lakers...
I don't hate Simmons like some do-though I think the man is full of himself @ times-but it isn't like he was the sole media person all but putting KD in a Knicks uniform. Zach Lowe-who I like-was parroting the same stuff. I think it became groupthink at a certain point that Durant was MSG bound.
the Knicks would obviously want him. He may even want to come to the Knicks. But there's other teams out there with more picks than we've accumulated. And if you thought Ainge was tough to deal with...Morey may actually be worse.
Embiid is a perfect fit. And maybe the package of picks and RJ,Obi+ another player and 4-5 picks will be too good a package to pass up. Mavs pick looking better and better too. The way we stagger RJ with the 2nd unit we could stagger Embiid or Randle. That would be a dominant 2 units.

Chris Haynes, KD’s favorite media reporter, said the Knicks all the way until the final week. KD wanted the Knicks. Kyrie wanted the Nets and KD didn’t feel that strongly about it to say no.

I mean, as you said he was one of the first on Lebron to the Lakers, he may not have been on point with the team but he was correct in hearing Durant to NY, and he was also the first towards the end of last summer to start with Ishbia as a buyer for the Suns. He clearly has well connected sources, that said, even if there is smoke of Harden back to Houston, that doesn’t mean Philly is definitely moving Embiid. He’s locked up long term and they could decide to rebuild in some way around him.
But just to entertain it, I think you’re looking at something along the lines of Mitch, RJ, Obi plus picks. I think on paper Embiid is worth it, add him to this current team and that’s arguably the best team in the East.
I called shotgun on that bandwagon long ago! I want to get his jersey I’m just too lazy. 30 or 11.
I’m also really really really loving IQ. He’s become and indispensably valuable player here. I think he’s almost as valuable as brunson. He’s one of the best defenders in the game now and he can flat out score from anywhere.
More and more I find myself thinking how is the other team going to beat the Knicks where as it used to be the other way around. The Knicks are really hard to deal with. If you don’t bring it they run and out work you right the fuck out of the building.
Bondy just a wrote an article that outlined that Durant was coming to the Knicks until he tore his Achilles and then wanted to join Irving who wanted the Nets.
It’s always strange to me how much speculation you hear on rumors in the nba but never hear an accurate reporting of what happened after the fact.
Who knows what happens with Embiid but there is 100% smoke. And the way the NBA is now, if a player of his caliber wants out - he’s gone to the team of his choosing.

1. This has been a fun and great season. I thought they would be about .500 but the monster year from Randle and good lineup decisions from Thibs have been the main drivers of being better than that from my preseason thoughts.
John Schmeelk
@Schmeelk
2. Their recent streak has a lot to do with some great individual shot-making from Randle and Brunson + some hot three point shooting. The team defense has also improved throughout the year, which is typical for a Thibs team. Mitch getting healthy huge with the defense too.
John Schmeelk
@Schmeelk
3. Short term, this team is capable of winning a first round playoff series if Randle and Brunson play well. I worry a bit about the simplistic offense in the postseason but the way they offensive rebound, get to the line and limit turnovers should mitigate a lot of that.
4. They have a real shot against the Cavs or the Sixers in the first round and either series should go a minimum of six games. It will likely be a lot of fun. Great progress on the win column and we've seen youngsters like Quickley, Grimes, Mitch, and even Obi (3's) take steps.
5. Big picture long term, I've always stressed the importance of obtaining star players. It's how you win in the NBA. Randle and Brunson have been legit stars this year. Both will be in the ALL-NBA conversation. That's how the Knicks will stay out of the play-in tournament.
@Schmeelk
6. I've said the Knicks need to obtain two stars to become contenders and need to use assets to acquire those stars accordingly. But now? If they acquire the correct singular star that might be enough if the rest of the roster remains mostly intact.
John Schmeelk
@Schmeelk
7. If you put a true top ten player with Brunson, Randle, Quickley, Grimes, Hart, and Mitch this team has a trajectory that could be special. Ideally that player is a big wing that's a two-way player that shoots well. But the Embiid conversation is a real one too.
John Schmeelk
@Schmeelk
8. So now the Knicks muster their assets, and wait for the right guy. You use Barrett as a young player with a larger contract to match salary and use Obi as another young asset to go with all the picks.
John Schmeelk
@Schmeelk
9. One other non-stop ten guy I would think about is Zach LaVine who has that wing size and is a legitimate offensive player that adds an athleticism factor on the wing that the Knicks don't have. He would also not likely cost EVERYTHING like Embiid would.
John Schmeelk
@Schmeelk
10. Those are my thoughts right now short and long term. Onwards and upwards. Go Knicks
-Unsure if I agree on LaVine (High contract and term, injury prone, no D) and if it's a full teardown in Chicago we gotta go with Derozan. The ask for Derozan would be higher but we have the assets to do it. Embiid though would be ideal.

Embiid obviously would be the dream addition, but to touch on his point about looking to add a wing, my favorite target would be Mikal Bridges. I think he would be absolutely perfect on this team. He basically does all of the things that we all wish RJ did as the third option.
I don’t know how likely it is that Brooklyn looks to move him, but even if it takes RJ plus a ton of picks I’d be all for it.

8. So now the Knicks muster their assets, and wait for the right guy. You use Barrett as a young player with a larger contract to match salary and use Obi as another young asset to go with all the picks.
John Schmeelk
@Schmeelk
9. One other non-stop ten guy I would think about is Zach LaVine who has that wing size and is a legitimate offensive player that adds an athleticism factor on the wing that the Knicks don't have. He would also not likely cost EVERYTHING like Embiid would.
John Schmeelk
@Schmeelk
FUCK NO TO LaVine....Derozan is intreaguing...but we have a bunch of talented 1/2s right now
I hear people dissing the 76ers...they can very easily win it all-i want no part of them in the first round if we can help it
whether it is a star or just a role player, they have to be able to shoot the 3, rebound and defend, otherwise that player wont fit..
You have 2 scorers, you have to build around them accordingly even when adding a star next to them.
I agree the ideal player would be a 2 or 3 and can play an elite 2 way game.
However Embiid is too good not to fit. Randle Brunson Grimes Quickley with Embiid might not be elite 3 pt scoring but it would be good enough with everything else that big 3 brings to the table.

Agreed, Embiid on this team is title contender and maybe the favorite
This is what playing against Playoff Level Defenses will be for us.....I think we excecuted fairly well.
I know folks are down on RJ...but it was Thibs decision to put him in there for the stretch that was crucial to the Win

If you trade for a MVP player you are not keeping Quickley and Grimes the sixers watch games too.
They not giving up Embid for Barrett and picks.
It might take Quickley, Grimes and picks. Everyone knows what you know about RJ and if you are trading your franchise it's going to be for a laundry list of talent
Ouch. Better to rest him if needed, though, I guess. Need him healthy down the stretch.
I would rest him if its bothering him, it sucks but this is a tough game either way, you have won 8 in a row with the Hornets coming up at home tuesday and then a long west coast trip..

He is a warrior...but we need him healthy
Yeah even with Brunson our chances tonight aren't great

I will be really bummed if he can’t play. Been looking forward to this game all week. Nationally televised game too. I understand that if he’s injured and can’t go he can’t go. But I really hope he can.
Knicks beat them a few weeks ago without Brunson, Mitch and obviosly Hart..
I expect Butler on Brunson and Bam on Randle, which means Rj has to dominate Herro and Mitch dominate on the boards over Love
So very impressive .
So very impressive .
Yup and both can move off the ball and are just as dangerous and they are both willing passers

Absolutely! Barrett is practically the only clear negative right now. Often everything flows better when he is not out there.
Lightning Quickley!
Love this from Rj, instead of iso from the top flash in the middle of the zone and get easy looks
Fact.
He needs to get most his minutes with the 2nd unit.
and butler getting every ticky tack call
I have a buddy at the game, its 80-20 Knicks fans
I love how Hart attacks the rim
I go back to 1975....
We'd be up 20+ if we could hit oir free throws lol
Something about the way they are fired up against the heat made this one awesome to me

Insane how they don't get open until the last second
No way you can win doing that in today's NBA, especially when your defensive specialists are allowing Miami to shoot 48% for both 2 and 3 pointers.
Suck my d

If you cant see how Mitch and Hart effect winning without scoring i have no idea what to tell you
My duaghter is having a sleepover with a friend, my wife texted me from upstairs and told me to shutup, i scared my daughters friend
The Heat brought the D in the 2nd half.
Tremendous win...
4th place in the East here we come

Pace yourself for the playoffs haha!
Great win. Big time buckets all night by Randle.
The number of off balance contested shots that both Randle and Brunson have made this year are insane. Randle especially. His core strengthening and balance work has paid off huge

The biggest difference in Randle, imo, is working with the sports psychologist.
Elite contested shot making is tough to beat in the playoffs... then 3 balls raining from outside secondary scoring from Quickley
Starting and finishing.

Boston is not playing great right now. Sure NYK could get their A game like they did Miami but mannn are we on fire right now. Hopefully Brunsons ankle is ok. Those ankles can blow up the next day.

holy crap this is fun, this team jist continues to fight, easily could of started to let go of the rope when Brunson went out and Miami had all momentume and the Knicks just kept fighting back..

Knicks can beat Boston. Bucks are the team they don't match up with.
He is much higher than top 20 this year. He's a no doubter top 10-12.
that being said randle has been every bit of a top 10 player this season and it will reflect come all nba team and mvp voting
Hats off to him i wanted him gone last season but hes really turned it around and nothing but respect for him

Randle and Brunson are really in a groove. They make each other better.
I think I was more annoyed by those assholes looking at that and not overturning it than I was a happy that Julius rainbow went in. What’s the fucking point of replay of horseshit like that doesn’t get overturned?!?!
Hell of a game and a better finish.

But the strip itself was clean and sent the ball behind Randle.
So, Butler heads behind Randle to get the ball.
But, plot twist, the ball hits Randle's left heel and reverses direction.
Butler is baffled for a moment; doesn't understand what happened. He still had a chance to get on the floor and contest for the ball, but he freezes.
Randle looks down and there's the ball bouncing back towards him.
Picks it up and, with Butler out of position behind him, he only has the smaller Herro in his way when he lofts the winning shot.

Great illustration of what happened. Truly a serendipitous stupendous play.

Non-ideal would be:
1. Someone who can not play the 2,3, or 5. Since Brunson and Randle are staples at the 1 and 4.
2. A player who is not a good defender
3. A player who is older or injury prone.
4. A player who is smaller maybe around 6'3 or less
Examples-
Lavine
Derozen
Beal
Lillard
KAT
Harden
Ideal examples-
Booker
Brown
Embiid
Starting Horford at the 4 is a mistake to me
He needed that shot to take the next step in his career and hopefully the monkey is off his back.

nets had a great second half, played harder then celtics. bridges looked again like a stud. the team was just put together.... thus will have some games when they look amazing (beating full strength Celtics in prime time on the road)--- and some where they look terrible. in the end the hope is to be more cohesive and get a first round playoff matchup.
the nets have a lot of guys that can give a go at the celtics wing scoring--- that is the strength of the team. they struggle against size and quickness.
if they do make the playoffs, no team will enjoy the series if they are playing their defensive physical game on the wing
My favorite by far has been the Nets team of Ian Eagle and Sarah Kustok.
The worst has been the Hawks(Rathbun, dominique wilkins and vince carter).
He lost 5 to 7 minutes that Rj took in the 1st quarter

Except for Wally. lol.
But,he is the closest thing to Bird we have ever had.

Thibs was correct.
Everybody hates on the guy and some nights he deserves it.
Last night he played very well
Randle is having a great season but if I'm the other team I WANT him handling the ball late in the game playing hero ball. We've seen it fail more often than not. A lot more.
Lol

His outside shot is sooo off right now. He has these little spurts where its on but thats it. I want him shooting from the outside only if he is in a groove. His drives while sometime terrible decisions also can be excellent as well though. He needs to focus more there with the spacing that he gets from this offense.
On your Julius point you are 100% right... it was almost like play Randle for 3Q but cross your fingers in the 4th. Uhuh not lately...Last nights game winner was an epic finish to a maestro performance.
Quote:
Randle was amazing last night. However, he is terrible in closing games. Yes mitch dropped an easy pass. Yes, he had a 3 pt play(on a bad shot attempt), but you cannot turn the ball over in the final minute and he almost did twice. He was lucky the ball bounced back to him the 2nd time.

Not going to argue that, was shocked Miami switched Butler on him, it allowed Brunson to take Oladipo

But,he is the closest thing to Bird we have ever had.
In a few seasons, basketball historians will be asking, was Larry Bird good enough to be compared to Julius?

This ^ I dont care about miss shots, miss shots happen, its taking bad shots forcing play, its bad defense, its being lazy going around screens, its not attacking the glass, its holding your arm up when if you chased you had a rebound..
Its all of the little things, the constant need to take bad shots at the worst fricken times..
I dont think he is willing to accpet he is the 3rd option but if he wants to stay on this team passed this year he needs to check the ego and realize he is the 3rd option and start doing the little things..
Rj is in for a rude awakening come playoff time when guys play 40 minutes and he is playing 10 or 15
Simmoms - ( New Window )
the Knicks would obviously want him.
Julius Randle's PER this season 21.4
PG Kevin Johnson's average PER was 20.7
Jalen Brnson PER this season 21.3

Bird won back to back to back MVPs...he did everything at the top level.Rebound,Score,Defense,hustle...and was clutch
TBH I would take him to take the last shot of a tie game 7 over anyone ever in the history of the game...even more so if you are down 1
Anyone comparing Randle to Bird knows nothing.
You would think someone is going to want to come here and right now Embiid looks like the most obvious..

Williams is out
They are winning the east and i think they will do it easily
Knicks are halfway there!

Especially since the team is basically Giannis and a bunch of retreads in their 30s that anybody could have picked up.
@Schmeelk
Knicks as promised:
1. This has been a fun and great season. I thought they would be about .500 but the monster year from Randle and good lineup decisions from Thibs have been the main drivers of being better than that from my preseason thoughts.
John Schmeelk
@Schmeelk
2. Their recent streak has a lot to do with some great individual shot-making from Randle and Brunson + some hot three point shooting. The team defense has also improved throughout the year, which is typical for a Thibs team. Mitch getting healthy huge with the defense too.
John Schmeelk
@Schmeelk
@Schmeelk
6. I've said the Knicks need to obtain two stars to become contenders and need to use assets to acquire those stars accordingly. But now? If they acquire the correct singular star that might be enough if the rest of the roster remains mostly intact.
John Schmeelk
@Schmeelk
7. If you put a true top ten player with Brunson, Randle, Quickley, Grimes, Hart, and Mitch this team has a trajectory that could be special. Ideally that player is a big wing that's a two-way player that shoots well. But the Embiid conversation is a real one too.
John Schmeelk
@Schmeelk
8. So now the Knicks muster their assets, and wait for the right guy. You use Barrett as a young player with a larger contract to match salary and use Obi as another young asset to go with all the picks.
John Schmeelk
@Schmeelk
9. One other non-stop ten guy I would think about is Zach LaVine who has that wing size and is a legitimate offensive player that adds an athleticism factor on the wing that the Knicks don't have. He would also not likely cost EVERYTHING like Embiid would.
John Schmeelk
@Schmeelk

Joking?

FUCK NO TO LaVine....Derozan is intreaguing...but we have a bunch of talented 1/2s right now
I hear people dissing the 76ers...they can very easily win it all-i want no part of them in the first round if we can help it
You have 2 scorers, you have to build around them accordingly even when adding a star next to them.

I agree the ideal player would be a 2 or 3 and can play an elite 2 way game.
However Embiid is too good not to fit. Randle Brunson Grimes Quickley with Embiid might not be elite 3 pt scoring but it would be good enough with everything else that big 3 brings to the table.

whether it is a star or just a role player, they have to be able to shoot the 3, rebound and defend, otherwise that player wont fit..

Leaves you with Brunson, Quick, Hart, Randle, Embiid, Hartenstein, Mcbride..
and would add some vet wing help
Ouch. Better to rest him if needed, though, I guess. Need him healthy down the stretch.

I would rest him if its bothering him, it sucks but this is a tough game either way, you have won 8 in a row with the Hornets coming up at home tuesday and then a long west coast trip..
rest up and get to as close to 100% as you can

I will be really bummed if he can’t play. Been looking forward to this game all week. Nationally televised game too. I understand that if he’s injured and can’t go he can’t go. But I really hope he can.
