Is a mountain. I'm still pissed off that Wink thinks short yardage doesn't need big on big. We'll get run on all year until he's fired, he is woefully wrong about how to play the run on obvious run downs. 2 DL, 1 LB and 8 DBs on the fucking goal line again. It's a joke how piss poor he is at stopping the run. He's terrified of the big pass play and rightly so, but ffs stop trying to out scheme the run. It's hats on hats. Always has been. We will never beat teams who can run with that bloated mullet having fatso calling the defense.

Dont you think that was also because we had 5 DTs either unavailable or hurt? I mean they are managing workloads and by my count, they had 4 DTs who were available to play this game.

Wink has more dline depth this yr lets see how he works it
A weird post. Martindales' defenses in Baltimore were always top tier and the problem last year here was lack of interior depth once they lost Davidson and (Nick) Williams, and the worst ILB situation in the league.

Did you watch the Giants last year? Did you watch the game last night? I don't care about Baltimore, in one season we got run over constantly and last night it continued. I don't care what we added, he is simply not doing what needs to be done to play run defense since he arrived. Look at the numbers and tell me I'm wrong.
how much of the Giants' run defense can be attributed to not enough defensive linemen, leaving an offensive lineman free to reach the second level or to the linebackers hitting the wrong holes? I had a whole thread about that a few months ago.

This is certainly a take.
DT is really deep, especially compared to the end of last year
We have Dex, Leo, A’Shawn, Nunez-Roches
Riley looks like he will be able to help
Davidson looked good before he went down - should be back at some point ?
That’s a good, stout group
is going to make the 53 IMO. He already commands double teams well, and will likely only get better doing so with more coaching and strength training. He has no pass rush moves, but who cares? Tying up two blockers on a regular basis so that other players can make plays is more than good enough to justify keeping him.
(and I'm a huge Wink fan) is that personnel-wise, he just isn't showing any interest in stopping the run. You know when you have some of the best DTs in the league and your run D sucks, something's wrong.
I can't speak to what he did in BAL, but you can't stop the run with 20 fronts. Angel Eyes is right above too - with only 2 DL and everyone else spaced out and stacked off the line, it's way too easy for the OL to create lanes.
Hoping we see more 30 fronts this year or it will be the same story again, regardless of ILB play.
I was impressed with Jordan Riley, he is npt just a Camp Body
This staff knows to hit generally hit the skill/premium positions in rounds 1-3 and use 4-6 for safety, DT/NT, TE, RB, G
Exceptions like JMS in the 2nd Hawkins in the 6th show they are open to variations but the rule seems solid.
I am definitely am just guessing but I think even with Hawkins they saw a conversion to Safety and were just very pleasantly surprised

No, what Joey's saying is that he wants Wink fired. Which is a batshit bonkers take.

Maybe if dex and Leo didn’t have to play 90% of the snaps and we had competent ILBs, it would’ve been different story. Need to see what it looks like this yr with hopefully much better dline numbers.

Totally good with a space eater to give some rest on run downs.
so he has lost close to 15 pounds from the combine.
Wink said during the off season workouts that the Giants now have the size on the D front so I expect some different looks and some 3 DL looks.
NFCE is a different animal than where he was with the teams emphasizing the run game and overall better OL's. Let's see what adjustments are made this season.

Hard to play those stacked fronts when you don’t have the personnel to play them. Last year we had no depth and Wink had to go with what he did.
Last night we had four guys and as posted what did he expect? Play all four at once? It was preseason game one and nothing should be taken from the scheme other than seeing how all four of those played.
Shoen went out and got quality depth for the INT DL this season and LB group. I have no doubt Wink will use them when and where to get the utmost production and that includes short yardage.
Firing wink has to be one of the most bizarre takes I’ve seen on here and that’s saying something. With the personnel we had last year Wink was nothing short of a magician to guide that D to the playoffs and get a win taboot.
He's definitely a load. I'd hate to have to buy his groceries.
Is he better than the "loads" we had backing up Lawrence and Williams last year? That remains to be seen, but along with the acquisitions of Robinson and Nunez-Roches, I'm pretty happy with our DL depth (with or without D.J. Davidson). Hopefully they all stay relatively healthy.
RE: He's definitely a load. I'd hate to have to buy his groceries.
Still no news on DJ Davidson right?

Not a peep.

Is how he's built at 6'5", 340, he doesn't have a gut, look at those shoulders. It's almost like he doesn't needs pads to play.
Last lineman I've seen built like that was Ndamukong Suh, when he came out of Nebraska.

Overdramatize much?

Good group
I'll say it again, we had like 4 DTs available to play last night. What's he going to do? Play all of them at once?
Im sure he has Jumbo packages to stop the run. Theres a reason we went out, signed two fairly significant FAs and drafted another DT.

we are so fing lucky to have him.
I beg to the football gods every night that some team doesnt make him their Head Coach....

Lol!

He probably eats carbs, so the groceries won't all have to come from Wild Fork
