Once you ask 3x do you think asking again is going to change his answer?
This. He is not throwing anyone under the bus. We all know Ezeudu effed up already.
No he should fall on the sword a d admit it was his fault. That's a QA issue with him specifically and he's avoiding it. That's how losers face adversity. They avoid it.
It’s been reported that Dallas noted a weakness in the Giants place kick protection from last year. That’s on McGaughey, not Ezeudu even if Ezeudu’s execution was poor.
McGaughey is the “Subpar Teams Coordinator”; nothing Special about him.
It really makes you wonder how he's survived multiple coaching changes. Would suggest hes a good communicator, dorect, and with a solid knowledge of STs and his role. Or he's a bullshitter. But his continued presence certainly seems a puzzle.
I turned the page on Monday. Nobody fuckin cares when you turned the page. Special team coverage units have sucked under him. We still out kick the coverage. We did it against Dallas in the first half. We made a great tackle on the play but from being in the stands you could see that opening up bad. We got luck on that. Then the FG block deserves to be discussed. He could have answered that so much better. Even saying things like I will not go into specifics but we discussed the play, made the corrections so it will not happen again, etc. We all know Ezeudu fucked up but with the way he answered it he showed no leadership. Leadership is simple. When things go wrong you take the blame. When things go right you give credit to others. He's a bum.

You had me until 'bum.' I think he'd be better as an ASST ST Coord, and not the head guy.
In all seriousness, he should have owned it, even give it a broad answer and moved on. Now he's thrown chum into the waters and the media won't let up. I'd be shocked if he was on the staff next year
Once you ask 3x do you think asking again is going to change his answer?
They were putting his evasiveness on display. If they don't ask the question repeatedly, then fans get annoyed that the beats let him off the hook too easily. At least this way it's obvious that he's the one being uncooperative.
I remember him being an up and coming coach with head coaching aspirations under Shurmur. He was retained by Judge and Daboll and his units have gotten worse and worse every year. It’s safe to say he will never be a head coach.
unless you've talked about it at length. Which, if I'm not mistaken, he hasn't.
I agree with those above who say "own it."
"It was a bad play in a bad game. You guys saw what happened. I'm not going to call out individual players in the press because that's not how we do things here, but I'll say that it's up to me to have our guys ready for what each team is going to do, so that's on me. I know that's not a very interesting answer but that's all I've got today."

He kept saying that they are not talking about last week and moving on to Arizona but then had no problem answering questions about how Gray looked in the return game. For the same game he said they were not talking about anymore. Pffft
He can protect his players by saying it’s his responsibility, but he can’t just say it’s one of those freak things, they made a play and I’m done talking about it.
The pressure of a bad loss ain’t easy, we get that, but it’s no excuse. Belichick and a few other guys have the established credentials to refuse to answer, but a special teams coach hoping for a promotion one day does not. Welcome to the big leagues
why a greater emphasis/priority has not been placed on special teams. I know it is a fraction of overall time but special teams play can be so much more consequential to game outcomes. Some teams are still making decisions on punt returners early in the season. As an obious weak link in the Giants coaching staff, why is McGaughey still here? Surely a well perfoming special teams assistant coach from another team could be a better option, though not until next season at this point but still.

My guess is the stink of Tom Quinn was absorbed by him and is festering inside him.
Ha ha - I'm not going to go into why we sucked in this press conf
Before the new regime took over our lack of talent was discussed. We have a long way to go and better start hitting on these drafts. I would like an impact player on defense.

He was so uncomfortable. He was looking off stage, presumably for help with ending the line of questioning.

Both downplayed it publicly, but we all saw it.

Bad in Game 1.
Bad at media session.
At least he's consistent.
This is so true. Some fold, some rise up

Doesn’t he have a pretty good rep as a coach.

Yeah that always works
