did this win remind you of the game 3 comeback in 2007

Period 1 2 3 4 Total
Giants 3 0 7 14 24
Redskins 7 10 0 0 17

at FedExField, Landover, Maryland

Game Book
...With the Giants staring at a 14-point deficit, and an 0–2 start to their season, the Giants came out strong to start the second half. In the third quarter, QB Eli Manning finally got the Giants offense turned around and RB Reuben Droughns would score on a 1-yard TD run to cut the lead in half.

In the fourth quarter, Droughns rushed again for a 1-yard touchdown, while Manning completed a 33-yard TD pass to WR Plaxico Burress, giving the Giants a startling 24–17 lead against the home team.

At the end, New York's defense then proceeded to make a goal-line stand, and the rest is history.

Have similar thoughts.

Yes mainly because that game was really

a tale of two halves as this one was.
I thought the same thing...

the main difference is that goal line stand at the end of the Redskins game was inspirational and I think galvanized the D to an extent.

They still had some lapses throughout the season after that but it has to be rare to stop a 1st and goal from the 1, 4 plays with a 7 point lead. It gave the D some confidence.

Sunday the D played better in the 2nd half, but I'm not sure they have that confidence yet.
Good thing Aaron Ross went for the tackle and not the strip

The only difference is that we were already 0-2 at that point. The Washington win got us to 1-2.

1-2 soon enough.
I was thinking more of Denver

2005. Eli’s coming out party. That come back was basically the same type of scenario. We needed the D to make some key stops and Eli essentially had to do everything exactly right to win. And when he hit Toomer for the win it was very similar to Jones making the dart pass to tie the game on Sunday. So a little different, but same actions needed.
it felt similar

after the drubbing from the Cowboys and the Packers, the game against the skins felt like a bit of a break through. I felt the same after being down 60 - 0 after 6 quarters.

I can't believe that was almost 20 years ago... Crazy
Not really, no.

This season's start had a MUCH more ominous feel to it, with the "everything that could go wrong, did" Game 1 followed by a very similar first half. That season started shittily but remember the Giants scored 35 points in that opener and lost to Dallas.

This felt MUCH more dire to me because the team couldn't do ANYTHING, on EITHER side of the football.

If all this talk about Daboll calling the plays made THAT much of a difference (hard to believe, but we watched it), he needs to stay that course.

For me it just feels like

this team wasn't playing with the energy and focus the regular season requires. It took the offense 6 quarters and the defense 7 quarters to collectively wake the fuck up.
Very bizarre start to a season.

I'm really curious how they come out against the Niners.
Kind of sort of

but I learned from last playoff game, we shouldn't expect a Coughlin type performance out of the team. Like we actually have to be talented and good all year to have a shot at the SB.

Also its probably clear now too all besides the most entrenched Jones hater, but he brings this element to the game.
