Remember when Prince Amukamara commented on the importance of getting that first win of the season so guys aren’t walking around with a “tight butthole?” Besides being kinda funny, that idea always stuck with me because it seems like a simple but important observation.
The Giants were going to be big underdogs this week no matter what, but I wonder if getting out from under the burden of being 0-fer can have a tangible effect against the Niners. Maybe they come out playing loose and more confident. A couple of dynamic plays early and a lucky bounce or two and perhaps overconfidence by SF can flip the script in the Giants’ favor.
And what about from the fan perspective? For me, I’m not at all dreading this game like I was a couple days ago. I’m not naive enough to expect a Giants win, though I do look forward to seeing if coming off a historic win - on the road - gives the team a lift.
I’d be more worried if SF was coming into the game with a bunch of backups like they did a couple years ago when the Giants were favored and totally flopped. IDK, but I have a gut feeling the Giants will at least be a tough out and we get a much better game than expected. Sure, an upset win would be awesome. A close loss on the road against a top contender that fires the team up to take down the ‘Hawks in week four to get to 2-2? I’d have signed up for that in a second when the schedule came out.
What do y’all think?
😅
i think we get it done.
However, I feel like more often than not after an insane emotional comeback win, the winner is at risk of flopping the next game from exhaustion.
But the x-factor is it is a Thursday game (which I hate), but those games on a short week tend to be weird. I hope it can be an equalizer for the Giants to catch SF off guard.
THEN, you add in injuries to the RB, and Oline...against of the best in the league. The spot itself just sucks for NYG, but then take into account injuries. I dont foresee another Dallas situation, but i think the spread is appropriate at 10.5 right now.
Power running game, control the clock. Play action and some deep shots as they crowd LOS. Make Purdy beat you with his arm. I think we see more of Simmons in this game. If the D plays well, I think we have a shot. i have confidence in our offense.
Hard to say, really. 9er front 7 was somewhat underwhelming vs Rams, w only 1 sack by a LB. Plus, they disappeared the 2nd qtr. Somewhat anecdotal, but maybe they are still trying to hit their stride like the Gmen. Rams controlled "important" offensive stats (1st downs, TOP, 3rd downs, passing yds), but (2) Stafford picks made the difference. Purdy was pedestrian (17/25 - 206), but of course McCaffrey made most of their offense. Let's hope Wink figures out a running defense in the nick of time.
