man that franchise is just chasing. How will this work cap wise? They either need to create room for a 1 year rental or extend him with Rodgers on the payroll?
On the Vikings front, interesting move, Cousins isn’t taking you to an NFC title game. But I’m not sure what the Jets can offer with all the picks they’ve traded.
anything Barstool related could very easily just be an attention grabber so I take that with a grain of salt. I enjoy a lot of their content, especially PMT, but not exactly trustworthy.
Minny is 0-3 and the odds of their making the playoffs are statistically miniscule. You know Cousins is a numbers guy and good chance would get the Jets to the playoffs with the talent they have. Wilson won't.
Doesn't hurt to ask.
with a lot of NFL connections. It would not surprise me if they had some insight. Kirk Cousins has been a guest on the show a few times and they do establish relationships with their guests.
for a late round pick. Not exactly sure who that is but there’s too many problems with Cousins. The compensation, the salary, and him also not being a big time gamer makes it a no go for me if I were a Jets fan.
Man if only the Jets went that route they’d probably have a chance to compete for a WC. Names like Dalton, Minshew, Dobbs, etc.
Obviously no one knew Rodgers would definitely get hurt but his age is no secret. They should have at least upgraded the backup QB position along with getting him.
More nervous for their job than Joe Douglas. The Wilson pick is his and the more Wilson plays with no alternative the worse it becomes. OL is also supposedly a “Joe Douglas” specialty.

Joe Douglas is horrendous. Dave Gettleman must regret not being friendlier to the media - he could’ve had the same garbage record and been treated like a king.
Jets trade Wilson and 2 third round picks for Cousins
Don’t see the Vikings being ok with that package. They will be in for a nice comp pick just letting Cousins walk while also still potentially contending for the playoffs. An extra 3rd isn’t good enough and I don’t think Wilson has any value.
They are going to want a future first.
I think Matthew Stafford would be better option for Jets.
Stronger Arm. I think he matches up better with Jets WR to get them the ball downfield
How will this work, trade Stafford when you are 1-2 and punt the season for a crappy Jets package? And from the Jets perspective, how can they take on a $50m cap hit the next 3 years while also paying Rodgers?
...He is playing like he is deathly afraid of making a mistake. "Take the nearest open man as soon as you can" type play. I am sure that's coaching.
Yep. Wilson has his faults no doubt and was profiled as a boom or bust draft pick. Saleh is not a good HC and Hackett is nothing great either. Neither will be there next season.
is, barring a miracle, a lost cause for the Jets. Tank the season and take a QB high. No guarantee AR is coming back, or if he'll be around long if he does. Or use the pick/trade it for multiple picks to improve the team for AR.
They knew Wilson wasn't the answer. That's why they traded for AR. AR is injured, making for a perfect excuse as to why the season is lost. If losing your star starting QB on the 4th play of the season doesn't give you an excuse, nothing will.
Someone is throwing shit at the wall with Cousins. Minnesota is not trading Cousins and run with Nick Mullens. Far more likely that the Vikings will move Mullens. That would make Saleh happy because he wants the SF offense even though he doesn't have Shanahan's brains to run it. No qb in Minnesota, no Jefferson extension and he is leaving at the end of next season. So, trading Cousins is losing two star players. If the Jets are having qb conversations with Minny, it's probably over Mullens.
This was supposed to be a "watch and learn" year for Wilson with his idol Aaron Rodgers. Circumstances unfortunately intervened. Doubly unfortunate to have the guy exposed to Hackett who somehow managed to destroy Russell Wilson's reputation.
There are not a lot of viable alternatives for the Jets.
be surprised if the Vikings traded Cousins. The Jets would also have to pay a fortune to get Cousins, even more so because the entire league knows they can't continue with Wilson. Aside from a few good throws, Wilson looks totally lost. His pocket presence is nonexistent and he is not seeing open receivers. The Jets are wasting their defense and G. Wilson is upset on the sidelines. The fans are booing.
My guess is the Jets trade for a backup QB, who would still be an improvement over Wilson. Somebody mentioned Heinicke. He'd be a possibility.

I think MN needs to see how this weekend goes. If they lose to CAR this weekend (they are only 3 points favorites) they'd be 0-4 and realistically in the mix for Caleb Williams. At that point, might as well trade Cousins (they'd be able to get at least a 3rd from the Jets) and truly embrace the tank.
wonder if the Jets would be interested in T. Taylor. He's mobile, which he'd have to be behind the porous Jets OL. He's also an established veteran who wouldn't have to move to a different city. I wonder if the Giants would be interested in trading him.
Not sure this makes sense for either team, but the Jets' issues extend
You're asking their teams to give up on 2023 and beyond (searching for a new starting QB). What could the Jets possibly offer to get a team to do that? 1st round picks for 5+ years? It's not like the Jets are so dominating everywhere else where any QB could get them a ring this year. They are deluding themselves.

They should've shored up backup QB as well. When they got Rodgers, Wilson should've been moved out.

You said a lot of good stuff above....EXCEPT...
Nobody destroyed Wilson's reputation but himself.
Would be like saying Mike McCarthy ruined Dak Prescott or something.

No one is giving them a future first round pick for Cousins. They aren't making the playoffs either. I think 2 3's would get it done 2 weeks form now if the Vikings are 1-4 or 0-5
When do the Vikings or rams decide they are going to throw in the towel? 2 weeks from now? 3 weeks? And what is the jest record then? 1-4? 1-5? And as a 1-4 team are you really going to go all in on going for the playoffs this year?

You’re right, no one is. I said it’s what they will want. They are already going to get a good comp pick so giving away a top 15 QB for an extra 3rd seems wildly unrealistic. Just go back to every QB trade over the last 5/10 years and this would be an absurdly low package.
In 2 weeks the jets could be 1-4, so why would they add a QB heading into another likely loss against the eagles before the bye? They also can’t afford his rental salary.

Kirk Cousins is Johnny Unitas compared to Zach Wilson

He’s UFA after the season.

Isn’t he on Atlanta?
Third, why would Minny do this (the Jets would need to sell the farm)
Fourth, Cousins doesn't sound to me like a NYC type of guy
Problem here with that comparison is what we have locked in money wise with DJ...THAT IS NOT THE CASE IN Chicago or with our tenants

Tyler Heinike? I’m sure he’d be cheap he played well on a team with limited talent
Isn’t he on Atlanta?
He’s the back up there, probably could be had for a 4th
My guess is the Jets trade for a backup QB, who would still be an improvement over Wilson. Somebody mentioned Heinicke. He'd be a possibility.
At what cost? Lose your fan base before October? And for what, a crappy package of picks?
Jets can’t afford the compensation or his salary IMO.

We all somehow knew the Jets were going to Jet.
Because Cousins and the Vikings are expected to part ways at the end of this season anyhow.
Unilkely to happen three games into this season, however.

Think about Wilson, or Justin Fields, being the Giants qb!

Here we go again, calling critics of Daniel Jones "haters."
Please grow up a litte bit.
It is better to admit you made a mistake and move on than risk everything by trying to cover it up.
Keeping Wilson and letting White leave was a monumental disaster that should cost Douglas his job.

Devito looked better than him preseason.
Jets signed Trevor Siemian.
That being said simmons and a few people have said this is the move to make for the jets so I’m sure the rumors will swirl about cousins and jets
They probably told him he either had to tweet that out, or he'd have to do the Ray Allen tweet. :-)

No, Wilson is on his own.
