Is the NFL landscape shifting towards former players becoming leaders/head coaches? To be honest I am personally motivated more by someone who has done the job and been in the trenches and knows what it takes to succeed from personal experience. Does the current player respond better to former athletes? Yes I know former players as head coaches is nothing new…. Just great to see two of our own succeeding and inspiring these young men.
I still don't think Campbell's capable of out-coaching a talented team that doesn't play stupid.
Demeco Ryans another good example.
Definitely someone not too far removed from their career as an NFL player can have certain advantages, but there's just so much that goes into being a head coach that we should be careful not to discredit the other attributes that have made guys like Dan Campbell and Demeco Ryans successful so far.
I'm rooting for Pierce, but the reality is that he still has a lot to prove. How his team responds when they start racking up losses will say a lot about his ability to lead.
St. Brown, LaPorta, Mongomery and Gibbs are a nice set of weapons.

Ryans was going to be the example I would have used
In short, I think you will always seems some players succeed, but not many.
To be a successful coordinator, you need the X and O expertise more so than the other traits. I think this is why so many highly accomplished coordinator don't work as HC.
TC was cooked by 2013 maybe 2014. I agree Reese was bad by then, but it does not excuse bad coaching. At worst, they should have gone together.

Who should have not been fired. TC had to suffer from incredibly bad drafting by Jerry Reese who should have been fired much sooner.

This has been a popular sentiment on this site but I'm not sure I agree. The 2015 roster was garbage in his final season and despite the 6-10 record they lost 4 of those games by 3 points or less (which included a 1 point loss to the 12-4 pats). Tom never forgot how to coach.
Parcells biggest plus was his ability to motivate and get a guy to reach (at bare minimum strive for it) his potential. That is huge when you really consider all these guys have talent, physical ability, etc. However the motor and the drive is what really separates them. Getting 53 to stive for their personal best and do it as a team anything is possible. AP won a SB playing David to Goliath. DC was part of a scrappy NYG SB bound team that ultimately loss. Both can bring the relatable moments to their players and show them the proof is in the pudding.

Still can't believe they traded Hockenson to a division rival with a bare cupboard (at the time) at TE. Good for them that LaPorta has been playing well this year, but he's not the weapon Hockenson was/is.
I've got a BBIer I'd like to introduce you to ...

a pleasure to watch on both sides of the ball. Still need a few more plus players on Defense but coming on.

They traded Hockinson because he wanted to "reset" TE contracts with a new deal. LaPorta is turning into a stud. Great move.
So was exchanging Swift for Montgomery. Not big on drafting Gibbs so high but he is acclimating just fine too.
