Where do you stand?
I would have had an interest in BB after Coughlin left in 2015. Personally I no longer feel that way. For continuity’s sake, plus Bill’s age (I want a head coach to be here for 10+ years), plus now seeing the post-Brady years, I don’t see it as the slam dunk move it once would have been.
He's 70+, the ship sailed long ago.
I really don’t think Daboll is going anywhere, although that could change if there is some kind of epic meltdown. Still, I don’t think BB is the right guy at this point of his career, and I don’t see why he’d want to come here.
Belichick is old and he would want complete control as the one man show. As much as Mara admires BB, those prerequisites wouldn't be accepted.
If BB wants to come in as some sort of advisor doesn't interface with Mara, fine, but I don't see it happening.
With Magic's involvement in ownership there you know he's looking to make a splash. I see the Commies throwing tons of cash at BB.
Listen to yourself first. Talkies have to drum up drama. Little Bill isn't coming here and I think he's done winning anyway.
I agree there. There was a time when Little Bill should have come back home, the time has come and gone. As usual someone in Mara tech fuct that whole thing up.
BB would be best to go to LA Chargers or Buffalo Bills type situation. Underperforming team, with the QB in place, that needs a firm hand to get them over the top. That is not where the NYG stand as of 11/15/23.
He is a shitty GM so him demanding complete control of football operations is a reason why the Patriots are so bad.
Tom Brady was the sauce that covered up alot of sins up there in New England.

but I think the info was leaking from the BB side, rather than NYG.

Did they "f that whole thing up?"
Look at the New England drafts and FA signings since 2016. Without Brady there that whole organization has been on a downward slide for this entire time frame. Giving BB the GM/HC role would have imported that here with the Giants.
The Pats PR machine began pumping out fawning articles on Mayo last spring. I would expect that to intensify in the coming weeks.

His freshly signed deal tells me that unless Kraft is willing to eat his hat publicly, then this is a no go. So the only remaining option is that he entertains trades for BB and that’s complicated because he’d need to sign off on where he goes and that team would also need to agree to his demands.
I’m in the not happening camp. Too much needs to happen for it to work.
The last thing I would want to go is make him GM. He is currently the HC and unofficial GM in NE and his drafts have been awful over the past few years.
But Bill would need to agree to it. He basically has a no trade clause because he can simply retire. Kraft can’t just ship him to Las Vegas.
Why? His track record as a GM is not that great
You don't really think Bill Belichick would have to go back to being a DC, do you? He is on the Mr. Rushmore of all-time football coaches.
I was like Damn, he is old.
I just looked him up... he is still alive and is 98...
God Bless him..
He's 70+, the ship sailed long ago.
Good lord if that is true this just proves how badly Mara has run this team.
But this ship has sailed. And honestly why on earth would Bill want to come here? This roster might be worse than new england.
He should go to the chargers or wait a year until a good job opens up.
Pass.
Agreed. We have Congress for that.

but he's an old man now. Hiring 70+ year old coaches is not the right move.

Ooh. Brett is going edgy...
He can get his own Herbert in April and not have to move and finish his career just where he is. You came game any scenario, they all make a bit of sense but are far fetched IMO.
My buddy who’s a redskins fan thinks he will want to go there and ran on and on with this elaborate scenario yesterday. It’s just words. He’s shown no interest in wanting to leave and has a new deal. It will take something completely out of left field for him to not be a patriot next season.
You mean the affair with one of the Giants' secretary?
You get BB, you get BB's guys, and there's no way I want Joe Judge or Matt Patricia near the Giants, even with BB running the show.
Plus, BB wants to run player personnel, and he's bad at it. The Giants might be willing to jettison Daboll for Belichik, but I doubt they'd fire both Schoen and Daboll to give BB complete control.

That alone is a hard pass, not to mention what else has already been said here.
This is the thing I didn't hear on talk radio this morning.

But wait, Josh McDaniels is available again!
Mara is not making any GM/HC changes this year so best to watch the young talent on this team and draft prospects.
Now would be the time to use it.
It was real. I was the asshat who posted it on Christmas Day. I heard from someone who "would hear things in the building" that there was interest in Belichick. The plan was to bring in Pioli as GM and Belichick as head coach. They had worked well in NE. It checked the boxes as they had previous Giants connections & Pioli being Parcells' son in law. After I posted it on BBI, a few other reporters started talking about it because they were reading BBI and I'm sure they heard the same whispers and figured that news was going to pop. If I heard it, they did too.
However, the part that was up in the air was Belichick was leaking this because he was annoyed at Kraft for not opening his checkbook to bring in more high priced talent in trades and free agency. He felt if Kraft did, they beat the Colts in 2006 & win another Super Bowl. Kraft agreed to do it (see the Moss trade, etc), Pioli turned down the Giants interview and the whole thing fizzled So Coughlin stayed and Reese was elevated.
At least, that was what I had heard back in the day.

I think BB would find LAC appealing with Herbert. And I know he’s an East Coast guy.

Herbert is an established top flight QB. We know what Justin is in the NFL. None of these dudes-Caleb, Drake, Daniels, etc.-are a gimme to be good pros.
BB might not want to leave, but I think Kraft might feel differently. From all accounts, they've never been BFFs even in the best of times. Kraft was pretty adamant last spring about how it has been too long since the Patriots won a playoff game. Well, that streak is about to hit 5 years. Throw in those gushing articles about Mayo from multiple outlets like The Athletic & Globe...
Again, I feel the exact opposite. I'd be surprised if he's the Patriots coach next fall.
The rumors/rumblings have been the Chargers, Raiders or Commanders. I could see any of those happen, though I hope for Antonio Pierce's sake, he gets to keep the job.

+1
He's 70+, the ship sailed long ago.
Not sure what the selling point is. He’s steered the Pats into a steady decline over the last several years.
It's seriously the only way I can see this ever happening though. And by the way....I don't think Daboll will do that at all.
