No Patrick Kane. Hey that's something? Next game is in 1,000 days. Better than discussing the garbage Giants. Devils on Saturday night. I am still angry about last year's exit.
1. He isn't dominating in AHL yet, so they are not rushing him. He has 2 goals in 12 games.
2. There is nowhere in the top 9 for him on a wing. We have two wings that are not producing in top 9. Kakko and Wheeler. Kakko is not going anywhere. And they are going to keep trying to get Wheeler going for now. Wheeler was a point per game player for 7 years leading up to last season, and even last season he still had 55 points. If he is healthy there is still enough in there for him to be a top 9 contributor.
Wheeler has 1 goal and 2 assists in 14 games. Playing in the top 6 that is not producing, even somewhat. That is what you'd expect from someone like Pitlick.
Let's face it, Kakko is a bust. He's been in the league long enough where he should be showing improvement and he isn't. It looks like he competes, but he just doesn't get any results. I can see him getting traded at the deadline.
with Jones when he has the puck in the o-zone. I did not remember him being so deceptive and skilled with the puck. Looks like a PP QB. So smooth and confident.
however, defensively he is beyond a liability IMO. he looks small, not physical enough, and not positionally sound.
He can improve all that and the skills he does have aren't easily taught, but I think right now he's an AHL D or he needs to play sheltered minutes.
I'm also not as impressed with Schneider as some of you. He is a 1st round pick. He should be further along by now in his development. He seems to have the tools, but lacks the IQ/decision making and that's not a good sign. He makes some of the most boneheaded pinches I have seen. and seems to get crossed up on switches in the D-zone. Also correctable but not usually while you're playing top 6 minutes. What is frustrating is he goes through really good stretches and then some bad ones, maybe consistency is an issue because sometimes we (me) forget he's 22 years old.
While Fox is out that 3rd pair is a train wreck though IMO.
I think the Rangers need to look at Zadorov or Hanifin if an opportunity presents itself.

Yes, but at least Wheeler has gotten it going as of late...somewhat. He was a net zero for a good part of the year up until recently.
Kakko is simply a third-line defense-first F. That's who he is and probably who he will always be.
I still don't know what to make of Kakko. It's obviously been a very disappointing start to the season for him, but are we really resigning the fact to him being a bust? I'm not sure it's fair to do that, but at the same time, he's in his 5th year and his offensive production is at an all time low right now. He's still only 22 years old, plays solid defensively, but he does look like a glorified 4th liner right now.
Wheeler has showed signs of life and has points in 3 of his past 4 games now. I think he's going to be a plus player for us going forward. I don't think the Rangers should go big game hunting for a RW, personally. I think a few bottom 6/depth forwards, maybe a 7D should be their targets. If they did want to go get a top 6 RW, a Tarasenko reunion could be possible, or a reunion with Anthony Duclair from San Jose. He scored 31 goals two years ago and is on the last year of a 3 year contract.
I think the Rangers need to look at Zadorov or Hanifin if an opportunity presents itself.
Who would either of them replace? Schneider?
Hanifin would.
But they're not giving him away. he turned down a $6M per year long-term extension in September (smartly IMO).
little known tidbit if the Rangers do get Hanifin...Hanifin and Fox were trade for each other in the deal that sent Hanifin and Lindholm from Carolina to Calgary for Hamilton.
Want to see Kakko get going--I think he should be on the PK. He has a really good defensive player. I'd have liked to give him a few more games on line one.
Agreed on Schneider... He hasn't really progressed beyond "promising". He's fine as your 6th dman, I guess.
Not ready to declare Kakko a bust.
I expect to see Othmann beginning of the new year to replace Wheeler.
Jones is a solid number 7 playing with more confidence.
What a revelation Quick has been as our number 2 goalie. He has been awesome. MVP behind Panarin.
Gustafson and Bonino have been solid additions.
Need to see more production from number 1 line on 5v5 play.

(and I'll be the first to say that I'm awful with NHL salary cap stuff particularly as it concerns the LTIR impacts), I really think they should make a hard push sooner than later at Elias Lindholm.
Calgary sucks, he's on the last year of his deal, and I believe he's made it clear he won't re-sign there.
With the way the team is playing, it would be very easy to justify leaning in via moving a valuable prospect/pick or two.
I hope that any cap slack that would come from an unfortunate Chytil LTIR wouldn't be the justification to bring Kane back into the crosshairs.
I haven't been staunchly against Kane in general, but to me that would strictly be a separate evaluation and dependent on Kane really wanted to be here and taking a sweetheart, short term deal.
I've read that this is at least his fourth concussion as a pro, and he seems to be making no progress towards coming back. At this point you have to start wondering if this doesn't just affect his season but maybe ends his career.
All you can do is laugh. The Rangers really never get any calls in their favor. I mean it's actually hilarious. Toronto has had it out for us since the letter.
I would be shocked if he was. Just fans wanting to throw him up on the line before he's ready because they think Wheeler is a sled out there.
The line combination have been working Laviolette seems to have it all together.
Apparently, Jones has looked good when he is out there.
Schneider is quietly producing a quality year. I think our D is looking quite solid.
As well, so far one can argue:
1. Preseason means diddly-squat
2. Coaching matters
And Zibanejad has been pretty poor in 5v5. But I'm nitpicking. We're second in the fucking conference...

You should come to the Philly game

Kakko is a complete hole on offense.

Why's that?
You know the 1st line will eventually start ticking....Fox & Co will be back (I hope)...
If Laf stays hot....it will be a nice year
Not happening.

Philly is usually loaded with Rangers fans. Actually, most arenas are.

Be patient. People were callin Laf a bust and he looks great right now.

Jones is not very good, either.
BTW, Gusty is the best free agent signing they've made in quite a while. Why this guy has bounced around the league I don't know.

Doesn't sound good with Chytil

If Chytil is LTIR'd, priority 1A becomes a C.
What’s the point of having anyone in the booth with the babbling Daneyko who goes on and on?!
That and the female host trying way too hard during the pre/post game and intermission who sounds like she’s just finished snorting an 8-ball!
Shadup and take a breath for the love of God!
