Waldman, who many respect, has Williams as his 2024 QB1, by far. This film room, with Mark Schofield, goes over good and bad. They do love him as a rare, potential franchise-altering talent, who has not only a huge ceiling, but a high floor as well.
Some of the QBs who come up are Mahomes, Rodgers, Tarkenton, Lamar (athleticism)
Some of the traits discussed:
rare creative ability
supreme athleticism
elite arm talent, top-5 NFL
Mahomes-like arm angle ability
good in the pocket
great release
excellent ball placement
competitive toughness
This last trait is crucial to some of the criticisms of Williams. He's a gamer. They show that he is great at hanging in the pocket and working to give his receivers time to get open. He doesn't give up and take off like so many running QBs. And he has the arm talent to stick throws everywhere on the field.
It would be great if Schoen could move up and put us in position to add Caleb Williams.

Take Williams, take Nabers, and go get to work.

You are right. But still have a glimmer of hope until it's officially squashed.

I think it would take No. 6, both 2s, and next year's no. 1 to get to the top of the draft. What do you think?

Don’t see Nabers making it to their second pick.
He does. I love him immensely. But I won’t deny even as big a fan as I am and wanting him on Giants, that there is huge implosion potential too with him.
Totally agree. I hear he is a really good kid too.

You can't bet your career on Fields, when a prospect like Williams is available.

Yes. That seems like a baseline. Might we have to sweeten a little? Add a third or a fourth, maybe. I'd do it.
It does seem as though one of Nabers, Odunze or Bowers would be there for Chicago's 2nd pick. Williams plus one of those playmakers would be a great haul for them, or the second/third best tackle.
Seems a no brainer.

I think it would take at least that, probably more.

He's got franchise-changer upside talent and presence.

I'll be shocked if they don't pick a QB, but yeah especially him. He does look different than any of the other guys coming out at QB to me. I can totally see the Mahomes and Rodgers (well, and also the Jeff George lol) comparisons with him in those clips they use.
Smart, tough and dependable? Are we going for just 2 out of 3?
I think Odunze is going to be special as well.
Most of the good ones can lead their teams to 10 wins, this guy is supposed to be "generational" yet, 8 wins in a trash conference?
I just dont see it, I hope Washington does grab him, another short QB who struggles to win...
From all accounts and all sources that know QBs, not just fans or talkies who think they know QBs but real actual scouts or former scouts, Williams is the most likely QB in this draft to meet expectations. He's the best prospect. Sure there could be another QB or two that come close and sure there are scouts out there that might like Maye or Daniels even more, but the consensus will side with Williams. He's the safest pick, and that's not meant to imply his floor is higher or whatever other BS people like to conjure up to hedge things. WIlliams simply has the best skills and looks like the guy who can run an NFL offense.
The BEars are our only hope if you want NYG to get Williams. Only way we get him is via the trade up. Only team that would trade away from Williams is the BEars. He likely won't get past 1. HE definitely won't get past 3.
Not even just them, I mean I can see some team giving the house to move up. Should the Bears stay put??
