I love their ball movement. With that said, our defense needs to play better. They look so bad. I get the injuries are why our defense looks bad but these bigs need to step. Turner and Siakam basically had all their first quarter points.
Need Harstein back ASAP. And as good as Bondonovic looks offensively, he looks just as bad defensively.
Concerning. The reason is right in front of you. Taj Gibson can't do any rim protection and they have no one else. Bojan is forced to play because they're injury depleted, he's not a defender.
You lose 3 centers in the NBA including 2 in the same week. It is what it is until after the ASB. Give it a rest.
This.
You know what the issues and challenges are. They aren't going to win a lot of games against playoff teams with these injuries. The entire defense is built around having either Mitch or Hartenstein out there and OG on the wing.
Shit happens they were due for one of these especially with the injuries. But Taj Gibson isn’t an NBA player anymore. He has to go. And Deuce got torched on D by Mcconell tonight.
They look tired. Guys are playing a ton of minutes
Just make it through Wednesday with no injuries. It'll be a week and a half towards OG & Randle being reevaluated. I wouldn't play IHart until the Sixers game.
Can't be upset with no center and an exhausted team
Precious, Hart and Taj against a scoring team makes no sense to me. The extra defense from that alignment was doing nothing. Indy only had to guard Brunson DV and kind of precious. Hart and Taj are nonentities offensively right now.
Mitch, Randle and OG will still be out for a while after that. Hopefully the break is what Hartenstein needs to get healthy.
Brunson has an ankle, Hart has a knee, they a couple of new players that haven’t practiced with the team yet, etc. The All Star break may not “solve” much but it is desperately needed

Just curious who else did they have to play instead? Did you want them to pull guys out of thin air? Bogdanovich stepped off the plane and played 32 minutes. Burks 21. We were playing a potential top 5 seed in the conference and we were missing 3 starters. Including our 2nd best player. We were FUBAR.
I fear Brunson is going to get burned out playing all these minutes
Hopefully, we get these guys back healthy with about 10 games to go on regular season.

I know good bigs aren't readily available but there has to be a better option than Taj Gibson. There is zero point in having him out there. Can't play anymore.

This is like DJ/Devito/Taylor all getting hurt at the same time and getting upset that Mike Glennon is starting games - what can you do except play the hand your dealt?
Sims will probably be back on Monday so that can change alot.

I think people are understandably frustrated that we got a glimpse of the legit contender this team could be, and immediately watched players drop like flies. Nobody’s fault, just sucks.

The only fault I saw, and I said this to start the season so it’s not hindsight, is that going into the season without a quality big man to back up Randle was a hole in the lineup. If they had had one legitimate PF/C to begin the season and not view Hart is a good enough back up because he rebounds they wouldn’t have been caught as short handed

I think there are better options on the G-league team than Taj Gibson. He can barely move out there.

It was always only a short term plan because they couldn’t find anybody decent. Trading for OG and Precious provided the depth they needed. But nobody’s deep enough to handle losing 4 big men at one time.

I’m talking about going into the season, it was a real weakness in the lineup that should have addressed imo

My point was that they would have been better had they had someone additional to begin the season. I’m not sure how anyone could argue if there was one additional big on this roster it wouldn’t be helpful.
The one beef you have is Taj. Sure a guy like Biyumbo would be better but it takes desire from a player to sign too. Maybe useful bigs out there didn't want to sign here
My point was that they would have been better had they had someone additional to begin the season. I’m not sure how anyone could argue if there was one additional big on this roster it wouldn’t be helpful.
I usually agree w you Steve and I agree we were a little light on bigs to start the season, but i think they corrected that. Not including Taj (he should be retired), with Precious and Bojan (sort of), we have 7 bigs. Problem is 5 are injured. Hard for any team to overcome losing top 3 Cs and top 2 Fs.
We're in desperate times. I know nothing about the G league team, but agree would rather take chance w whoever might be there vs. wheeling the Corpse of Taj out there.
This team does not need some mythical ball dominant superstar. Brunson is the best ball dominant PG we've had since Clyde. Why mess with that? Let's see how healthy we get and how the post season goes. My feeling is that we'll need improvement around the margins and not some superstar.
must have come down with something pretty (Covid, flu etc) to still be only "probable" having not played since the 3rd. Well, good to see his ready to return.
Knicks Film School explained what the Knicks will most likely do
According to the CBA teams must have 14 players under contract. The Knicks have twelve. They get a 14 day grace period to get to 14. They most likely won't sign a vet because they cost more. What they think will happen is they sign two bodies from the g league team or a player who is what is considered their rookie year. The reasoning is a vet with X amount of years service costs double what a a player considered a rookie costs.
Keep in mind any vet signed to be on the end of the bench isn't going to play. No very will want to sign here anyway because they won't have an opportunity to play, as many of you have said.
a good player listed as questionable who didn't wind up playing
The way to start figuring out if it's true or not, start with how many times an opposing player was questionable on game day. It's not something I pay attention to, and it'd take a lot of effort to look it up tbh.
I hate this starting lineup. 3 non-shooters doesn’t make any sense
of 2 big men in the game hurting them, DDV drives the lane instead of a wide open layup, two guys converge, and instead of having a shooter at the 4 in the corner, its orecious who cuts instead of sitting there and its a turnover..
And I don't like what I have seen from Burkes these two games. He is supposed to provide offense off the bench, but not as a chucker-it shouls be within the flow of the offense. Don't force shots.
RE: The injuries have officially cone back to bite this team

I can’t stand watching him play. He is selfish. He does not embrace ball movement. He’s not deferring to anyone.
And the officials are keeping Houston in it with these garbage swings like the last one where DD got mauled and it turns into a fast break foul the other way. Plus the clear Dillon Brooks charge

It’s been rough. The free throw differential is crazy
makae a god damn sub,Knicks are going to start the 4th with 4 cold players..
Yeah I'm never part of the minutes police but that was ridiculous. They had a chance to get a lead late that 3rd qtr and the guys were dead in their feet.
he is literally fading away has no chance of making the shot and you called a foul, thats absolutely disrespectful to the game, you literally decided the game
all you have to do is look at the free throw disparity
should all be smacked in the face after that game. And so should Thibs. Did I miss something with McBride? Why did he only get 5 minutes? Especially when Brunson was clearly gassed by the end of the 3rd quarter? And I get it that we're shorthanded - but spread the minutes around so that DD and Hart aren't playing 40+ minutes.
RE: In a league built upon star treatment Brunson sure doesn’t get his
4 turnovers to zero and 0-2 free throws vs 6-6 will do it.
Precious is going to be hard to keep out of the playoff rotation.

Precious's play was a surprise to me. When that trade was made, I thought he was just a throw-in.
Burks looks lost out there so far, oi
Oh yeah - I forgot. Royal battle of the Toppins.
If he did that for NYK, Thibs would have stormed the court.
ha! great minds and all…
I don’t give a shit about seeding - I’d gladly play this Indy team in a 4-5 matchup and destroy them the way we destroyed the Cavs last year.

Yeah, start me at the 5…because Gibson and myself are the only centers in the NBA
And there are better options than Taj in free agency
There'd be bigger questions to ask if Taj Gibson was Tom Thibodeau's son.
This.

They probably want Hartenstein to rest through the 22nd though. Still will be tough sledding.
The talent is there so I am not concerned right now.
OG will probably be back a week or 2 after all star break by the time break is over it sgoing to be 2 and a half weeks..
Knicks can get these next 2

thanks Del
Bronny looks otherwise undraftable right now.
as far as I can tell our old buddy Nerlens Noel is a free agent and is still only 29 years old???
Ita a good sign he doesnt have any kind of brace or sling on and he is sitting on the sidelines
What a disaster that’ll be when he starts insisting on the coach played him and his son together so many minutes
Quote:
Stein says at least 2 NBA teams think Lebron would sign with them for "far less" money if they draft Bronny.

The idea was Taj helped make them compliant. He wasn't needed to play. Technically they could sign you and I, as long as we don't play it's good
Knicks should still take this game, no van vleet, no eason, and no whitmore
This Knick team seems like a pretty gritty and tough bunch imo
i think its just vecause 90% of the time the knicks list their players as questionable
Nah. I think it's pretty standard for fans to think their situation is worse than others because you read the injury news for your team every day.

Nope its prettt stupid if you ask me, only thing i can think of is Thibs is trying to let Bojan get used to coming off the bench
He gets into the paint and there is nowhere to go
Dude is dumb as rocks and offensively brings nothing
I can’t stand watching him play. He is selfish. He does not embrace ball movement. He’s not deferring to anyone.

Also Thibs is a dumbass

he wants to continue to do finals games
and there was a lot of late movmeent on the line, it went from -4.5 for the Knicks to -1 for the rockets
Aaron Holiday got that call, think about that, Aaron fricken Holiday..

God i cant wait until this team gets some bodies back
Thibs does have an issue not appreciating the relationship between fatigue and injury.
