Just cause I feel like taking a shot at the Jets: Doesn’t the probable dominance of Mahomes on all the NFL and particularly the AFC for the next few seasons add another blow to the Arron Rodgers signing with Jets?
Rodgers is back for this coming season and possibly one more. And of course anything could happen to the Chiefs: Injuries, loss of FAs, bad calls, Superbowl hang over season, Andy Reed retiring, etc., but what are the chances of even a comeback Rodgers season, where a lot goes right for the Jets end up having them beating the Chiefs and Mahomes in say an early round playoff game? Doesn’t this put Rodgers as a Jet in the same situation as say Patrick Ewing or Charles Barkley being blocked from winning championships by Jordan (of course AR does have a ring).
If the make or break to the Rodgers career as a Jet is getting to a Superbowl, what are the chances of that happening in the next couple seasons with Mahomes now in his prime?
Well, they didnt win now, obviously. And Wilson will be a former Jet sooner rather than later.
Seems they need to draft a QB now more than ever. To be groomed. Which will only piss off Rodgers if history is any indication.
As tough as it's been to be a Giants fan the past decade, it could always be worse...

I'd say the opposite. They've made their bed, lie in it. Draft offense. Linemen, receivers, whatever. Go all in on Rodgers and when he retires, blow the whole thing up and sell everything that isn't nailed down.
more so they sold their soul as an org to take a shot at winning it all, quick fix. But they are a victim of bad timing. I get a chuckle.

stop trying to win because they're in the same conference as Mahomes?

Sold their soul? They swapped 1st rounders, the net cost was a 2nd rounder for one of the best QB’s in history. It’s certainly defensible to question the decision, but sold their soul? They needed a QB, they got one at a good price. If that’s selling your soul, sign me up!

Allen Lazard 4 years 44 million
Randall Cobb 1 year 3 million
Billy Turner 1 year 1.65 million
Adam Pankey 1 year 895k
All brought in by GM Rodgers. He's also determined the fates of their coaching staff and GM and will have a heavy say in their draft. Thats pretty much selling your soul... Giving a player on the team that kind of leeway.
His blatantly overhyping Rodgers all summer long, his borderline mental blowing of Rodgers for the cameras and sound bites was soo over the top it was comical. His whole persona became a guy who already planned on his SB speech, his SB aftermath. It was a joke the way he acted and talked and to see Rodgers go down was like a needle to a balloon. POP, there went the Jets season and there went MR. Blowhard Saleh all in one Achilles tear..
The Jets brought in Rodgers people and most failed or were non factors. I expect them to try and do so again by going after D. Adams, Watson from GB and I expect them to stay away from drafting a QB (which they should do) because of Rodgers ego.
They have a very weirdly put together roster with some studs youth wise but a lot of guys who are mid tier. Injuries to those areas puts much lesser talent on the field.
They could turn it around but to expect Rodgers to be Rodgers at his age, off a major injury and without any really game history with his teammates is questionable at best.

Lazard is the only bad contract there. Turner was also only brought in after they got o-line injuries
Bills, Dolphins, Chiefs, Ravens, Bengals, Browns, Texans are all better than the Jets. They'll probably have to battle Pittsburgh, Jacksonville and the Chargers for a wild card spot, and I trust Tomlin, Pederson and Harbaugh a lot more than Saleh.

Sold their soul in that they turned the control of their org over to an egotistical control freak on the hope he could take them to the promised land. They made him a de facto player GM all to get him to come to NY and be happy and stay. Rodgers says who stays and who goes. Saleh should probably be gone but AR likes him so he stays. To me that's selling your soul
The Jets would have won 10-11 games if AR doesn't break. Shit happens. They will run it back because what choice do they have. Saleh is a placeholder but the team has talent. It's on AR and his health.
