he's affordable...can play either RG or RT, which is a perfect scenario if you have to kick Neal inside. Bricillo has worked with him for the last 2 years and with the Patriots, so there is great familiarity....2023 was his best year as a pro.
And he'll be affordable...more affordable than Kevin Dotson, Robert Hunt or Michael Onwenu.
ooof...ok...I can be talked into this. Alt seems very safe. I would be curious who starts at RT week 1 if all hands are on deck. I would think Neal and Alt plays guard at least early on..
Not sure I buy this unless Neal is out of here. He's not moving to guard, nor are they going to bench a #7 pick for a #6 pick.
That begs the question though, can Neal be used to enhance a potential trade NYG might make? We know he hasn't been good so far, but we also know that Neal was highly rated out of Alabama. Dallas, who maintains a brick wall of an OL at all times had Neal rated highly on their board, and there are countless examples of guys sucking here and play better elsewhere before or after that, Flowers, Omameh, Zeitler, Glowinski.
Point is, maybe the league still sees value in Neal knowing NYG doesn't know what the hell they're doing with O-linemen.
Hunter, DL coach Andre Patterson have a long-time connection.
Hunter is 30 years old, but has been productive for the last two seasons in Minnesota. He had 10.5 sacks in 2022 and a career-high 16.5 sacks in 2023, fifth in the NFL.
Something at least equally as impressive is that Hunter played all 17 games in each of the past two seasons, and played career highs in snaps both of those years. In 2022, he played 906 snaps for the Vikings (78%). In 2023, he played 1,006 snaps (89%).
PFF projects a three-year, $65 million deal with $40 million guaranteed, an average annual value of $21.67 million per year. That would put Hunter at the tail end of the top 10 when it comes to average annual salaries for edge defenders.
We need help at Edge to line up next to Lawrence and the other side from Thibs.

I want to believe they won't dump and run after two years, but they're not getting much right under Schoen either.
Daboll and Schoen will be fired and Daniel Jones released.
Then trade down in the first round to load up on day 2 draft capital.
I like Browning --didn't know he was a FA. Says here he's a ERFA which I presume means exclusive rights FA...I think that means Cincy can match but maybe details are dependent on the qualifying offer they extend...
Drafting Alt at #6 would frankly be a damning indictment of Schoen. Constantly having to redraft positions, especially with day one and two picks, is a hallmark of a poor GM. Schoen has already drafted three OL and signed a fourth in FA. None have really shown anything so far. Right now, he looks like just the latest in a long line of Giants general managers who inexplicably can't fix the OL, no matter how many FA and draft resources they use to try and do so.
As for the one offseason move the OP asked for, I predict as others have said, that Saquon will leave the Giants.
Oops, realized that is next off season. For this one, it is trending that NYG will not draft a QB that would push DJ. Vet backup, yup; late round developmental QB, maybe.
For this one, it is trending that NYG will not draft a QB that would push DJ. Vet backup, yup; late round developmental QB, maybe.
Trending? What does that even mean? Schoen and Daboll don't make decisions based on what's "trending" on social media. When and if the Giants draft a QB will depend on the prospects and the grades they are given compared to other prospects available. I expect QB to be one of their priorities in the draft based on Jones's injury history.
I don't think it happens either and I have been railing against OL in round 1 but I wouldn't kill them for it.
The only thing we should be concerned with is landing an impact player in round 1. Fuck the position. Talent first.
Now if you told me the position we draft there at 6 (leaving out the QB for sake of discussion) will develop into a stud no matter who it is? I'd take the WR or edge.
I get sucked in again by the offseason hypes that will come soon

This is just a crystal bowl thread, but that is what I see happening based on both rumors reported by the “journalists” and the apparent mgt shills here on BBI. I don’t believe that Schoen/Daboll will have the discretion to use the #1 or other draft capital to take a top QB prospect regardless of their evaluation of either DJ or the prospect. That said, I hope you are right and QB is prioritized.
I like Browning --didn't know he was a FA. Says here he's a ERFA which I presume means exclusive rights FA...I think that means Cincy can match It means he can only sign with Cincinnati. Giants can't sign him.
This one confuses me … Browning has been in the league for 5 years, first 3 with Minnesota, then 2 with the Bengals. He’s finishing a 1 year deal with them which I thought meant he was now a UFA … too bad if he’s not because I think the guy can play.

He only has one accrued season. He didn't play a snap in the four seasons prior to 2023.
I hope they're not that deeply dug in and drafting for perceived needs out of reflex.
My belief is that the first round pick will be all about the passing game, which--assuming no way Williams and Harrison Jr are still available--leaves us with the following likely possibilities (in no particular order)...
QB Daniels
QB Maye
QB McCarthy
WR Nabers
WR Odunze
TE Bowers
OMG too funny
And he'll be affordable...more affordable than Kevin Dotson, Robert Hunt or Michael Onwenu.
I wouldn't hate that as he would be set at RT for years.. Of course we have said that before.

Goes back to Washington as they try and win now, helping to get funding and support for a new stadium.
Washington drafts MHJ..
New England gets Baker Mayfield, trades out of #3
NYG Pick #3- select Drake Maye QB
I think that’s a safe assumption/prediction.

Jermaine Eluemunor makes most sense for his versatility. Shouldn't be much AAY either.

Stole this from BBV, but I like the idea.

Oh sorry, that's next offseason.
2. Giants sign Sean Murphy Bunting and reunite him with Bowen as CB2 to Banks.
3. Giants prioritize guard in FA and land one of Dotson/Owenwu
4. Spend low/mid level on Edge (Gross-Matos, Darrell Taylor, etc)
5. Draft Nabers or Odunze at 6
6. Sign Mariota in FA instead of drafting a QB
My alt reality is they fall in love with McCarthy and take him at 6, Worth or Roman Wilson in R2 with Seattle pick

You have to learn to assume it will be a horror-show: it dampens the pain. It's the hope that kills.

Might see us trade with the cards, if MHJ is gone in the top3
