Recent news on Randle was hes rehabbing but surgery a possibility if it benefits long term. Did not like reading that. OG i dont know. But im oessimistic on Randle that the S word even cane out of his mouth. Was hoping for a more optomistic “im getting there soon”
Randle still rehabbing feels good waiting to be cleared fkr contact then see how he does, that will be the determining factor if he can play or not..
OG is just waiting on final clearance probably come aroubd march 1st, doing cardio and left handed drills, once he is cleared it will just be a matter of time
RE: Great team effort when Brunson didnt have it shooting wise
Bojan was on fire in the first half, hit a couple big 3s in the 2nd half..
Mcbride came in and played really good defense on Maxxey, allowed Hart and DDV to go off the ball..
Divincenzo didnt shoot well but still had 16 points, a few boards and a couple of assists and forces the D to play out on him..
Brunsons still had 21 and 12, too many turnovers and got fouled a lot but didnt shoot well..
Hart made the comment that it is go time now, final push to the playoffs, and he backed that up with 18 and 12
and Sims is pretty unrefined out there and makes mistakes, but he also had 5 offensive rebounds. At least the effort is there, esp with Hartenstein not 100%
that's some WTF box score. Is IHart OK? Looks like he got pulled. But the rest of the box score is ... well, how many double-doubles tonight? Man, it looks like the Knicks are coming to play right now.

He is on a minutes restriction, no idea if he would kf came back in the 4th but the Sixers went small, so Did Thibs
Love that we have another dead eye shooter from 3 in
because he is so athletic but he is absolutely horrendous positioning
I cant figure hom out. He has good footwork is athletic and has pretty good hands, but he cant play with his back to the basket or put the ball on the floor. Wosh that would change.

They had him on a pitch count (minutes restriction), he didn't get hurt. But as others have alluded to, he didn't look quite like his old self.
I missed the last game but watched tonight and man, we are going to be a tough out come the playoffs. I think the biggest boost is McBride. Everybody (including me) was down on him in that he just didnt have a place until he was forced into minutes. I knew he could handle perimeter D, but being able to count on him for some buckets and able to go real smalland fast will be a weapon in the playoffs. Most teams arent ready for that. Hopefully Thibs doesnt forget about him when OH comes back.
Knicks didn't lean into this enough in the 3rd Q, in my opinion.
Because the Sixers stopped playing zone and started staying in the corners, they didnt let that pass happen..
Their gameplan was basically push Brunson around and force the refs to call it everytime, then when they did Nurse would cry about it
Watching a team double brunson in the post when he had the ball was wild. Also highlights how critical is it to surround him with shooters with Randle out.
Teams are just selling out to stop him, guys absolutely have to take and make shots.
I have to think the Knicks will try to re sign him.
I am stunned with how good this guy has been since we got him. Much more than a throw-in.
I know this is super high praise but he kind of reminds me of a modern "Oakley-type" player. He's tough, does a lot of dirty work and still gives you a little bit of offense.

Same. He reminds me A LOT of Jerome Williams. Raptors fans said he was a throw-in and a disappointment, but holy crap, he is an absolute BEAST on the boards and is pretty much good for a double-double every game. Great acquisition and he's still young so plenty of upside.

I wasn't too worried but last night certainly helped eliminate some fear or doubt. Even without OG/Randle this is a very good team. McBride is a legit piece now even if he isn't a PG or lead guard. He can definitely fill a role here. Between Deuce/Burks and Bogs we adequately replaced or even upgraded over IQ and RJB and we're not even talking about OG.
This is a great team if things (Randle and OG) fall into place. I have no doubts. And I could even stretch that to say this is a great team if only OG is back and humming before too long. No one defends Randle like I do so in no way am I diminishing his value, but get me OG back and I think this team will still be a major problem in the East.
are the 2 biggest returns because of what they bring, i think their is enough offense to replace Randle..
Dont get me wrong Randle is a big return but i think they can weather the storm and even advance in the playoffs if Randle doesnt return or is severly compromised
various sources say Brunson scores the 2nd most pts in the paint
in the entire NBA. You don't need stats to show how much time Brunson spends in the paint and how often he gets bumped, scratched, gouged and bludgeoned.
He's 15th in FT attempts. Not bad. Not enough. The refs need to stop with the bullshit.
No point in hurting himself long term. The Knicks can survive without him if everyone else makes it back healthy. Mitch is my only question mark from the rest. We know OG is gonna be back 3 or 4 weeks.

Yup. I think when they showed the list, the number 1 guy was Gianni, then Brunson and then the list was all bigs including Jokic.
RE: RE: various sources say Brunson scores the 2nd most pts in the paint
No. He should have the surgery after the season. If he can play, he can have that surgery in the offseason and be ready in time for the season. This team isn't going far in the playoffs without him. His gravity is really important to the team. You can see it in how Brunson is struggling from behind the arc.

That game is a loss if the Knicks fall into a bad 3pt shooting night.
Randle's presence opens up the floor for Brunson. Being able to collapse on Brunson in the paint is how you beat the Knicks with these injuries. Collapse and beat him up. We've already seen the Refs allow it.
Without Randle you're just hoping the supporting cast hits their 3s and that won't happen all the time.
RE: I feel like last night justifies Randle's value
And too much pressure is on Brunson every night without Randle. He's not getting any truly open looks he doesn't create himself. Randle is a key part of this team even if he is frustrating at times.
That game is a loss if the Knicks fall into a bad 3pt shooting night.

I agree Randle should come back this year if he can -
for the reason above - he takes pressure off of Brunson. So do others, but Randle is pretty key.
I don't want to say there's a silver lining to all these injuries, because they definitely suck, but I think there's been some value gained in seeing what Precious and Deuce can do given minutes. Sims - still a work in progress. Don't think you'll seem him once the other bigs are back.
If and when he has it we're probably talking 4-6 months. What's the benefit of having him do it now? This team needs him. Plus you all are not orthopedic surgeons/sports medicine specialists. We don't even know what the damage is. I'm sorry 75-80% Randle helps this team get by tough teams in the playoffs. If he can't go or reinjures it he gets the surgery and comes back probably Thanksgiving- Christmas type time. If the Drs clear him soon he has to give it a go though. He is tremendously huge towards our chances.
No point in hurting himself long term. The Knicks can survive without him if everyone else makes it back healthy. Mitch is my only question mark from the rest. We know OG is gonna be back 3 or 4 weeks.
I don't see why he should throw away season now unless not having surgery now would be career threatening and that doesn't seem to be the case. If he starts to practice and can't do it then shut it down.

You're right. Randle is an impact player. Even if the Knicks could hang in there without him, and that's only if EVERYONE else is clicking and healthy, we all know guys get hurt.
We need Randle even if you think we are better equipped today than earlier in the year or last year. We need things to be just right.
I think the relationship between Randle and Knicks fans
is misrepresented at times - we all understand his value and see how much his absence affects the team. No one wants to just get rid of him. But exploring trade options before giving him a huge contract in a couple of years would be wise, especially now with ankle and shoulder injuries over the past year. End of rant.
Otherwise I’m thrilled with where the roster is, even if injuries are too much to overcome this year.
DDV > Grimes
OG > RJ
Precious > Obi
Bogey obviously has a different game than IQ, but at least he can provide some scoring off the bench. This year’s draft will be a nice opportunity to add a bench piece or two as the roster turns over a bit more.
but the Cavs dont impress me, Allen is still extremely soft and Garland i just dont think has the cajones for big time playoff basketball games
Watching the game and was going to post this. This team looks out of sorts without Mitchell. Allen is supposed to be this big defender but he gets smacked around and he's worthless. Soft player
Brunson isn't getting calls, it's like he gets the opposite of superstar treatment sometimes.
Sims has been active too, much needed as they probably want to limit Hartenstein
He's been so good this game and in general.
Nic Batum demands equal time.
Quote:
make this team even less likable, if that’s possible.

I did the same
Yup, very worthy effort by Deuce

I agree with Camby comp more than Oak.
I just noticed that Precious was a first rd pick of Miami.
He was the 20th pick in '20. I don't know what happened and how he ended up in TOR, but it appears the Heat gave up on him after his rookie yr.
It's pretty beautiful how he's helping us right now.

He was in the Lowry deal, when he has gotten minutes he has performed, that first year in toronto, he played 24 minutes averaged 9 and 7

There was a video of Randle shooting on twitter, he did look good, the question will be, is whether he can be as physical and not fear reinjury.
At full strength, the Knicks will be a nightmare for anyone.
