First mock I've seen where McCarthy is ahead of Maye. Come on Joe Schoen you can beat the Vikings offer.
1. Chicago Bears - Caleb Williams
2. Washington Commanders - Jayden Daniels
3. NE Patriots - JJ McCarthy
4. Minnesota Vikings - Drake Maye
The draft community and many in the league view Minnesota’s recent acquisition of a second 2024 first-round pick as evidence that a bold move into the top five is coming. That’s a fair presumption, but it also implies that the Vikings are good with whichever top quarterback prospect falls to four. In this exercise, we’re saying the staff has a specific target in mind and, more importantly, feels comfortable he will be available.
5. LA Chargers - Marvin Harrison Jr.
6. New York Giants: Malik Nabers, WR, LSU
Drafting Daniel Jones’ replacement would be tempting, if possible. Selecting a game-breaking receiver, the kind rarely seen in East Rutherford, isn’t only doable but necessary no matter who plays quarterback. Nabers averaged 17.6 yards on 89 receptions in his final season with the Tigers.

This Mock falls in line with so many others ever since Minny secured a second First Round Pick. But as you point out, the difference is that JJ McCarthy is already taken at #3 by the Pats so Minny ends up with Drake Maye at #4.
This Mock also has the Cardinals jumping around a bit -- they trade down with Minny and then back up into the 9-hole (from da Bears.) In another thread last week, Colin at GBN Draft Report speculated that Arizona could trade down (with Minny) and then back up to #7 or maybe even with the Giants at #6. The Giants could then select someone like Bo Nix at #11 if they still want a Round One QB.
In any event, I surely understand the tension that has built up around the Giants securing a QB. And I've been sweating upcoming Giants Drafts since the 1970s. But this one has me strangely in a Zen mood because the consolation prize for missing out on a QB at #6 would be a first-class wide receiver, something the Giants have been missing since Odell Beckham Jr.
In interviews he has more of the "aw shucks" thing going on than even Eli did.
I'd pass
Actually Arizona trading to 11 makes no sense even if they don't trade back up. They have plenty of draft capital. I'm not sure if anybody has seen their group of WRs, but it's probably the worst group in NFL history. They stay at 4 and can grab their WR1. If they have the 3 WRs graded closely they could move to 6 pick up a couple extra picks and still possibly get their WR1 or worst case scenario get WR2.
Giants aren't giving up next year's 1st to move two spots. It is only a 3rd and possibly a sweetener to beat the Vikes.

Just assuming it’s inevitable vikings get into top 5 and don’t even discuss the possibility of the giants moving up. Why would Arizona move to 11 to pick up more picks in a draft they already have a ton of picks rather than move to six and get a first next year? Doesn’t make much sense

We’ll see but I think it’d take more than that.
3 WRs were good to excellent picks (Hilliard, Nicks, Beckham) whose careers were shortened by injuries. One (Ingram) was okay. One (Toney) was a disaster. None of the WR picks were as high as #6.

I don't know how you can say that with any certainty. It is entirely possible that they give up next year's first. Likely? Probably not. But nobody can say it definitely isn't happening.

Of course I don't know. 11 and 23 on the chart is not worth as much as 6 and 47. Will there be a premium to 6 & 47? - likely yes. Will it be worth it to Schoen to give up next year's #1 - not sure. Would the Vikes go 11, 23 and 2025 1st and 3rd - maybe so. Then the Giants might need to add in 2025 1st or 2nd if they wanted to compete. What we do not know is who the Giants like as QB, how much they like him and if they are semi-desperate to get a QB.
Catch me an hour from now. I may change my mind....

You could be right, but Arizona played this same game last draft when they traded out of the 3-hole (with Houston) down to #12, and then traded back up (with Detroit) to #6.
I agree, Cardinals need an alpha WR, we saw what Hopkins did for them. Personally, I don’t see them moving at all unless Harrison goes top 3.

Makes absolutely no sense at all. You lose the assets you received and you take the chance of missing the player you want.

Yes they did do it last year, but did they do that because there wasn't a team in the 6-8 range willing to move up?
There seems to be different circumstances this year.
That is a better outcome than 11 and 23 from Minnesota.
That is a better outcome than 11 and 23 from Minnesota.
With all the picks they have this year, getting a #1 next year(especially one likely to be high) would seem to be preferable to 11, 23 and something else.
Problem is, if the Vikes are super desperate, they may throw in 2025 1st and 2nd/3rd...where does the bidding stop?
That is a better outcome than 11 and 23 from Minnesota.
I agree.
I think there is a good chance that someone would be wanting Alt.

I’m trading down only if I get 2025 draft capital.

+1. If NYG is willing to trade their 2025 first I think they'll get a QB. Look at it this way, if they don't take the QB this year, it's a lock for the 2025 pick is being used at QB anyway.

If the Cardinals trade down to 6 with NY they're guaranteed one of MHJr, Nabers, or Odunze. If there is a trade, my guess is the Cardinals trade number 4 to the Giants for 6, 70, and next year's first round pick.
That is a better outcome than 11 and 23 from Minnesota.

That’s a great point on the 2025 pick Sean.

The only way I think Minnesota gets the number 4 overall pick (vs NYG) is if they include 3 numbers ones (11, 23, 2025), or if they include Jefferson and 11.

And NY would top that if they included theirs as well.
Click bait.
