SI and Outkick reported this
‘And Ossenfort has in conversations made it known it's in the best interest of the Cardinals to pick up three first-round picks in exchange for the No. 4 overall selection, if he has to drop a significant amount in the first round.
Ossenfort has something of a case. He can bring up the 2021 draft in which the 49ers sent to the Dolphins a first-round pick in 2021, 2022 and 2023, plus a third-round pick in 2022 in order to vault from the No. 12 overall spot to No. 3.
The fact the Cardinals are floating three first-round picks in return for their pick in what basically would be a trade for J.J. McCarthy is an open secret now.
"I know when we were out there on the pro day tour, just talking to some people, I heard a lot of things of Minnesota who thought [McCarthy] had an excellent pro day," former Vikings general manager Rick Spielman said recently on the NFLDraft podcast.
"But they're not going to get it for just the two [first-round picks]. They're going to have to throw in their first round pick in 2025, plus some more draft capital to do what they have to do to go up and get him”
Just some notes that the Vikings do not have a second this year or next so they would basically clean out this years and next years draft to move up.
Also of note is this basically says this wouldn’t be the price for the Giants to move up from 6 to 4.

As an aside, it's not really 3 first round picks. It's a pick swap and 2 additional firsts. When it's phrased like that, it's not as bad.
as may be the raiders at #13. or saints at #14. or seattle at #16.

To beat that we would have to trade pick 6, 2025 1st and 2nd or so.

Well, supposedly the Texans initiated the deal with Vikings for pick 23. Who knows if that's true though. Either way, the Vikings offense is ready to take a big swing like this. We aren't. That's what it comes down to. It's easy for us as fans to say "what do you have to lose, trade for the QB and if he is elite then who cares what you traded!" That's not how it is for Schoen and his entire career on the line with this job. If he trades a king's ransom for Maye and he's anything short of elite, Schoen is likely out of a job and you don't typically get two chances at being a GM in the NFL.
Agrees, their roster and draft capital is primed and ready to take a big swing for Maye.
People keep referencing that "Vikings asshat" post like it's a fact. I mean no disrespect to that poster. It's just that it's lying season. So even if he heard something and shared it in good faith, it doesn't mean it's true.

This is considered a great draft and at premium positions.
It does matter because many people assumed the Vikings have an agreed upon trade up already in hand based on the trade

As we heard from the Vikings asshat update post. That makes the most sense to me. They aren't trading the same package for JJM as they would for Maye. Now, I could see this happening if JJM went 3 to NE.

Yes of course, but it makes sense. I don't see them feeling real conviction on Maye and JJM enough to trade a king's ransom for either of them. Plus, Penix fits their system to a tee if you ask me. Who knows, we will see soon enough, T-15 days 22 hrs 18 minutes

This but for all asshat posts around the draft
I don’t think Giants move up tho so might be irrelevant

I'd pay that for moving up to the Patriots #3 pick, NOT the AZ #4 pick.
Not likely, but it would be funny.

6, 47 and a 2025 1st is better than 11,23 and a 25 1st because you’re getting an impact player at 6.

If you want Maye and JJM goes 3 then you'd trade the same amount, no?

I don't believe there's a realistic chance that JJ goes to 3 despite some of the reports from Boston media types and other places.

Yeah, I know, but I'll tell you what, if Kyler Murray were in New York, would we be clamoring for a new QB?

more ammo to move up which they clearly want to do if they can.

it matters because people are making assumptions? who cares what assumptions anyone is making?

I agree and I don't think the Vikings pay the same price for JJM as for Maye either.
They already have two 1s, one high 2, and three 3s:
1.4, 1.27, 2.3, 3.2, 3.7, 3.26
They need to turn those picks into premium players.
If you're the cards, would you rather move down with Minnesota so you now have three mid-to-late 1s in this draft: 1.11, 1.23, 1.27? Or move down two spots to 6, pick up a premium WR and then get 2025 pick(s) from us?
If they do trade down with Minnesota, expect them to try to come back up to get a WR.
And what the hell is Outkick?!?
Stop reminding me. You're picking at scabs
