Could have kept some element of feathers. Honor the Tuskegee Airmen who fought for our country, name rolls off the tongue and close to the original name. Missed opportunity.

Pretty much. I've thought and said as much from the start of this controversy. These unis would suit them fine:
Would have been the obvious move and a great one IMO

Agreed!
They had 3 choices:
1. Go with Redtails as Bold Ruler suggested - keep same color scheme.
2. Change ALL color scheme, name, symbols, etc - go in an entirely new direction.
3. Do something lame like name the team Commanders and keep all the same color scheme.

New ownership will revise the team name. I'd be just fine if they brought the name back. Commanders is terrible, and their uniforms look like Arizona State.
Anything involving the word red is bad idea imo. That is too close to the problematic name and many would be in uproar about it. I don't think they should be associated with any person or persons.
Additionally, when asked, all but one of the surviving tuskagee airmen said they didn't like the idea or provided no comment. I would have preferred they went with Hogs. It's a throwback to their best era and they already had merchandise.
liked the Washington RedWolves or Red Wolves suggestion best. They are almost extinct, indigenous to the area and an NFL Teamed named after them could possibly raise awareness to the conservation of the animal. The animal also has strong ties to many Native American tribes such as the Cheyenne and Cherokee tribes, who see the animal as sacred. They could pay homage to Native American's by using an animal they hold dear such as the red wolf, as a logo. Plus they could make some pretty cool looking logo's IMO.

Yes. Everyone knows that “red” constitutes a micro aggression. And don’t get me started on some of the other offensive colors.

"federals" was a name the Confederates called Union army soldiers so I doubt those redneck fans would appreciate that...
Seriously, though, what the hell was Quinn thinking?
And no, they can't call themselves "Red Tails" because that would offend every other veterans group of fliers out there.
Federals (USFL), Nationals and Capitols are all owned by others.
I get it, it's part of your childhood.
But it's time to let go.
