I was at game 4 where swore NY would close it out.....the late PP killed their chances.....and well the rest is in the history books.
As someone who lives in the south now, the canes(Hartford connection) are my second favorite team. So it's always win-win during regular season. But this is different, and NY will always be my #1.
Nearly every game has been tight and could have gone either way. Fast players on both sides. Some sloppy passing gave up game four and well they were out played. Igor has been good and Freddie is a slight notch below and is playing well. In game four the Canes came out strong and I"d expect them to too the same tonight because its do or die. If Freddie didn't give up the shoulder post goal, it was game over, and that's why I say he's a notch below Igor. But Freddie did, and NY fought back only to give it up at the end. The arena was silent when it got tied at 3-3....and my dad and bro were like this is going to OT and Rangers have it.
Last game was disappointing since it was home ice....and I was drinking so I can't recall much.
Need to win this one!! Two years ago (Memorial Day) game 7 in Carolina when we kicked their ass my dad dropped dead between the first and second period. We are going down there and winning tonight. I just know it!!
show up ready for business and close this thing out
The last two first periods have been abysmal. Also, can they avoid aimlessly tossing pucks into the middle of the ice? The turnovers (and shitty line changes) have led to too many odd man rushes lately. Being more physical with the forecheck wouldn’t hurt either.
It feels like it's been a week since the last game. I think the extra day of rest will really benefit the Rangers. Hopefully Chytil can get back in the lineup tonight, but I doubt we know that before warmups. Every other second round matchup is going at least 6. Rangers were the first team to clinch the playoffs, first team to advance to the second round, and I believe they'll be the first team to advance to the conference final.
RE: show up ready for business and close this thing out
if they come out flat there will be a Game 7. I'd start Rempe-Goodrow-Vesey dump it in and bang them around a in their zone to start on a good tone.
Let's Go Rangers!
Brian Boyle and Mark Messier have both come out and said they think the Rangers should treat Rempe like an actual player, giving him regular shifts, as he is doing good things when he's on the ice, not just banging people around. If Chytil can't play, I say give Rempe the shot, don't play scared of Carolina taking advantage of him on the ice against the Aho line. Maybe he can make Guentzel think twice about digging pucks out of the corners, who knows. He gets to the front of the net and is pretty smart with the puck. It's all for nought if Chytil can play, but I say let's let Rempe play.
-Boyle has been watching Rempe closely and he says he needs to play more. Which I thought was an interesting take. He says as a big player who sits for long stretches, its tough to get your legs going when you get out there for short spurts. But he sites the fact that he's been aggressive going in deep and pursuing pucks and banging bodies with guys. He thinks he's a player that would get better if he played more, saying that Schneider benefited from more playing time.
-Brooks thinks Vesey should move up to the first line, says he isn't getting enough ice time. Is one of the only consistent players who gets in and works the dirty areas and is all over the ice when he is out there. Up In The Blue Seats - ( New Window )

I listened to this on my way in to work today, and it was also interesting that Brooks said he has spoken with Adam Graves, and Graves said that he doubts if the Rangers would have won game 7 if not for having 2 days off between games 6 and 7. I think this is huge for the current Rangers as well, who have taken advantage of days off all year as a reset. As fans, after a loss, we just want to get the next game underway, but I'm also sure Carolina would have wanted to play game 6 the next day. I think we will see the Rangers' best game of the series tonight, just a feeling I have.
FLA and BOS both look VERY beatable and the West everyone has big flaws.
this series is for the Stanley Cup.
Boyle and Messier are wrong (not Boyle about the legs - he'd know that way more than me). But it's clear the head coach who has watched him every day doesn't trust Rempe enough to play him more and in the playoffs against a team like CAR where every mistake can wind up in the back of your net is not the time to get him that experience.
I do support moving Vesey up though - he's been a beast. and could provide that spark to Mika and Kreider that Roslovic has failed to provide.
They need to follow the same pattern as the Knicks
Nothing new today, but he worked in with the bottom 6 yesterday. He was not in line rushes, Brodzinski did, but I do not think that is any indication of whether Chytil will play or not. He played game 3 after a similar situation. My thinking is Chytil will play tonight, but we won't know until warmups or even puck drop if he dresses.
while Rempe does a great job of pressuring pucks and being an agent of chaos in the offensive zone, he gets very lost on the occasion that the opposing team gets possession in our defensive end. He's active, but it always seems like he's roaming and doesn't quite know where to be, and doesn't have any feel for creating DZ exits when making plays on the puck with his back to the blue line.
I respect your opinion a lot so I say this with love, this made me sick (knowing how we have blown this).
Rangers are the better team. They just need to play like it. Moving your feet draws penalties and they stopped doing that. They have been outworked the past two games and it just can't happen. Also, I doubt the Rangers lose 4 in a row. Have they even lost 3 in a row all season?

This could be why Boyle is saying he would get better with more playing time. He has some good intangibles, he also has decent puck handles for a guy of his size. But with more time, he would be put into the situations he needs to get better at. I think it was a disservice to him that he didn't play every night down the stretch of the regular season.

Florida was the team coming into the playoffs I "feared" the most for lack of a better word. I picked the Rangers to win this series in 6, though I did not expect them to go up 3-0 and then lose 2. Florida is deep up front, they are fast, physical, and have a goalie who can steal a series. They are also susceptible at the blue line in my opinion. I think the Rangers will struggle with them (should both teams advance), but in the end, I think they will win that series. Out west, Dallas is probably the biggest threat. My preseason pick was Rangers/Stars in the Cup Final, no reason to change that now.

I agree with this whole post, and to be honest, FLA forwards vs NYR D is a match up I am salivating to see as a hockey fan. FLA F group is just as you described, deep, heavy, and skilled.
I think their D is worse than susceptible though, other than Forsling I think they are all a defensive liability. They are weak positionally, at puck retrievals, and allow a lot of odd-man rushes. I think the Rangers handle them easier than they will handle the Hurricanes.

i think Boyle is a fantastic analyst. He's brutally honest which may not be the best career move for him in Dolan-world.
Interesting to see, after Dallas' loss last night, home teams up 3-1 went 0-3 this week. Wasn't just us. It's tough to close out a team in the NHL playoffs. Rangers need their best effort tonight. Hard on every puck, nothing lackadaisical. Show us that you've learned from past troubles closing things out.

Asked if Chytil is an option for Game 6, Laviolette said everyone who practiced today is a full go and in consideration. How they’re feeling physically is a factor, but it’s a coach’s decision.
#NYR have curiously not made Chytil available for comment.
at the trade deadline would make a play for Guentzel. Roslovic stinks. If they had another guy that could score on Mika's line it would be dynamite. Wennberg was a curious pickup also. They already had a center that's good on faceoffs, but doesn't score in Goodrow.
If Chytil is available, put him on Mika's line and move Roslovic to the 3rd or 4th line.
JMO.
Laviolette has not been forthcoming with lineup decisions
and it looks like that continues to be the case. My guess is Chytil plays tonight. If the "illness" was truly not related to the concussion history, and he's been a full go in practice, there's no reason he shouldn't play.
But as of now the refs treat him like a goon. Next season he'll hopefully get the zebras target off his back, but in a series this tight it's a real risk to play him for that reason only.
Regardless, if Chytil can go he's a no-brainer.
Last was the first bad game they played in a month - and really it was 2 meh periods and 1 bad one. They've got talent, experience and grit. They'll be strong tonight. Hopefully it's good enough to end it.
I grew up a Ranger fan, listening to Marv and Red Light most every night and cringing Jim Gordon and Chadwick on Channel 9 on Saturdays.
Gilbert, Ratelle, Hadfield, Eddie G, Villemure, Tzachuk, Fairbairn, Vickers, Stemmer, Seiling, Stewart, Park … and later Espo, Vadnais and Fotiu.
Red seats suck and God loves the Blue seats.
But after 30 years in Raleigh, my hockey has turned red. I was at PNC when they hoisted the cup and cheered Laviolette at the parade. It was awesome.

yea just like you said last game was an easy win LMFAO...
florida is much more balanced than carolina and florida and rangers will be a great series.
i dont think "this series is for the cup"
ANYTHING can happen in NHL playoffs...
that being said, i fully expect rangers to win tonight with an Igor carry. This series could easily be 3-2 canes going into game 6. If Igor dominates again, rangers will win.

Come on man! I’ve been in NC 30 years. I was in Greensboro at the time when the Canes moved down, but no way did I ever consider pulling for them full time over the Rangers.

I can't go out and do it for them. lol. They coasted last game.
And no way is FLA more balanced than CAR. FLA D is putrid.
The main weak link for CAR is TDA on the PP. It neuters the whole thing. I think Bobrovsky is more prone to stealing a game than Andersen or Kotchekov but he's also more prone to not being able to stop a beach ball. Plus FLA takes a shit load of penalties.
FLA has 165 PIMs in 10 playoff games. NYR have 100 PIMS in 9 playoff games. NYR PP is over 30% for the playoffs. That is a series difference maker.
NYR PP is 3rd best in the playoffs and PK is the best.

Bob is much better than anderson. anderson has let in several shitty goals this postseason.
I agree on the ranger PP(altho it looked like shit last several times out).
I just would be cautious about saying "this series is for the cup"
no Wheeler. If Kreider can go, my guess is no Rempe either.
Mollie Walker
@MollieeWalkerr
Chris Kreider, Jonny Brodzinski and Matt Rempe are all on the ice for #NYR warmups, no Filip Chytil or Blake Wheeler

To each his own I guess… maybe because NYR tix were basically out of reach for me, they were more like a fantasy team. In Raleigh, I would regularly run into Ron Francis at a Lunch place and he was reachable. We could watch practices up close, and 1 of the Canes actually lived (his in season 2nd home) in my neighborhood and he’d often play street hockey with my son and his friends. The only NY team I hold allegiance to is the Giants, which is often like a blood curse.
Good luck going forward.
he isnt good. ive said this for a while. He is lazy with puck and is worried about throwing hits.
Lindgren simply doesn't have the footspeed that other defensemen have. He's not a good skater. Couple that with his durability and his lack of offensive production and there's no way I would extended him beyond two years...and maybe not even that. We need an LD1.
Fox is hurt so he's not of any use right now
Lindgren is terrible. Slow and awful.
K'Andre is stupid.
Schneider is just nondescript.
Trouba is a garbage captain.
Gus' calling card is offense and he's not producing there...
win the first 7 straight games in the playoffs and lose the next 4.
And those first four have a huge asterisk. It isn’t the Rangers fault that there weren’t eight playoff teams in the East this year. Wash only made it because they rules say they have to take eight.
The Rangers should’ve been more aggressive at the trade deadline. Panthers and Canes both went all out and now are the favorites in the East. Rangers on the other hand traded for two guys who have made zero impact in these playoffs in Roslovic and Weiner burger.
is handshakes after a hockey playoff series. So much more satisfying when your team wins obviously.
Only person I have seen disrespect the handshake line is Milan Lucic. Every other player tips their cap to the other team (or keeps it inside) and respects the game.
of any player on any team in the playoffs with tonights game. The Miller/Trouba pair sparked the team with 5v5 play. Other than the ill-timed Miller pinch played pretty flawlessly.
I was ready for Game 7 when they were down 3-1 and looking like crap, but they finally woke up. Now rest up and get ready for Florida (probably) or Boston.

Billy Smith would never shake hands after a series. I don’t think he ever did, even once

Smith was a world class asshole….this doesn’t surprise me

100% agree. Handshake line is a great tradition. Of course, much better when your team wins.
I forget, what was up Lucic’s ass that time. He was generally an agitator and goon, so I guess it didn’t take much to get him pissed.
Following the 2010 World Juniors I proclaimed Kreider my new favorite player. A few years later we got our second dog and my wife suggested we name him Kreider. Unfortunately we lost kreider to a chip bag in which he suffocated a couple years ago.
While he was with us his clear best friend was our golden retriever. I spent until 330 in the morning at the emergency vet with our senior golden last night. She's battling pneumonia but showing some improvement today. Regardless I was exhausted after working all day on 2 hours of sleep so I was knocked out well before puck drop. My wife just woke me up in tears because she was watching the game, and in the midst of the Kreider hat trick our golden walked over and ate her bowl of food that she's been refusing for over 24 hours. Believe what you will in life, but sports are the best and my wife believes Kreider is destined to lead NYR to the cup.

Habs beat the Bruins in game 7 in Boston and Dale Weise (ex-hab and ranger among other teams) and Alexei Emelin went at it with Lucic all series and Lucic called them out in the handshake line and it was caught on a hot mic. Just came across like such a punk and poor sport. And of course the classy Bruins fans loved it.

I just want to see NY vs. Boston in both the NHL and NBA. It would be fantastic for both sports.
I’d play Rempe just to beat the shit out of Ratface or Tkachuk.
Some great stuff in here.
“Will Drury survive this collapse”?
“What time is game 7 on Saturday”?
“When is it time to blow this team up”.
“How many choke jobs are Zibanejad and Kreider allowed to have”?
“All our defenseman stink”.
Essex hits a prediction for the ages. “Rangers win 3rd period 4-0 and move on”.
Thank you Igor and Chris Kreider! On to the conference finals!!!

Marchand is not much of a fighter. He's more of a wrestler. Maybe 1 or 2 fights per season and not usually vs fighters. Rempe is a foot taller than Marchand, he'd toss him like a rag doll.
now that the Rangers won, hopefully you fans can admit that "save" by Martinook was an insanely skilled (and lucky) play and was easily the "turning point" that wasn't a turning point because the Rangers prevailed in the face of adversity.
When you overcome horseshoe up the ass plays like that people start to use the "destiny" word.
Nope, win or lose. From a 1982 Sports Illustrated piece:
Quote:
The money motivates Smith, and he doesn't pretend otherwise. So don't be surprised when, at the completion of the Islanders' last playoff game, win or lose, he refuses to line up with his teammates and shake the hands of the opposing team. He never has, and he says he never will. Handshakes are for the bars.

Yeah I don’t know. If nba was a fair fight - eg knicks healthy - id be all for it but if Celtics are 90% favorites and rangers are call it 55-60% favorites, I’m not loving that ‘for the good of the game’ bullshit. Boston fans are insufferable and odds are too much in their favor for a sweep.
Now whether Boston or at least that series going 7 gives NYR a better shot I don’t know - I’d love BOS/FLA next hopefully two games to be physical wars that both go 4 overtime’s and then take our chances
Anyway I was extremely concerned after game 5. Kreider proved me wrong tonight. Well done. Rest up and let’s get ready for the ECF. First presidents trophy winner to make a conference finals in a decade is incredible. I knew it was bad but that was shocking
Don’t be hard on yourself. I wasn’t posting the brutal doom scenarios I was thinking. Went from total despair to jubilation and relief in the span of one period. I was terrified after two. One thing I’ll say will say is I was feeling a little better about a game 7 once the rangers got to within one goal and continued dictating play. Even if we didn’t close at least they were finding their sea legs again. Once they tied it this shit was over.
Just an amazing turn around. They’ve been doing this shit throughout the season but to see it done in this setting, pretty fucking special and so important.
I'll root for BOS because if you want the NYR to win, you like the match up with BOS more, but also you prefer a game 7 regardless in that series regardless.

Tkachuk would probably destroy Rempe.
I didn’t mean literally fight, but yeah, I want to see Rempe run those fuckers over.
They needed to play better in the first period after the past two games. They did, yet trailed after some poor defense late in the period.
The Rangers had a thousand GREAT chances in the second period that they somehow didn’t score on. I can’t lie… after the second goal, I lost faith.
They get the bullshit goal to start the comeback. After the refs missed the delay of game call, you had to know that the next thing the Canes did that even remotely looked like a penalty was getting called. (That was a real penalty, not a ticky tack call.) They get the job done.
The GW was as good a 5 man shift as you’ll ever see. Gotdamm Ryan Lindgren going behind the net like he’s Gretzky.
It feels good to have the best goaltender in the sport. Argue with your mama about it. IDC.

I'll root for BOS because if you want the NYR to win, you like the match up with BOS more, but also you prefer a game 7 regardless in that series regardless.
I just want to see NY vs. Boston in both the NHL and NBA. It would be fantastic for both sports.
I’d play Rempe just to beat the shit out of Ratface or Tkachuk.
Marchand is not much of a fighter. He's more of a wrestler. Maybe 1 or 2 fights per season and not usually vs fighters. Rempe is a foot taller than Marchand, he'd toss him like a rag doll.
Tkachuk would probably destroy Rempe.
Eh, Rempe has dominated pretty much every middleweight he's faced and has broken even with most heavyweights aside from Olivier, who is a running rival of Lord Lucic.
At 21, I think Rempe rags either of the Tkachuk bros and at 25-27 years old you're looking at a monster who can skate and drive possession.
I turned on the game just after the start of the 3rd and they were losing 3-1. Thought I was jinxing it and turned it off. Woke up this morning feeling they may have comeback. Yes!
I will continue to not watch, now. Keep up the good work and I will read the threads for highlights.
they looked lifeless, weren't even testing a bad goalie. not shooting. Trocheck line had some life but that was about it.
There was a play late 2nd or early 3rd where Lindgren got knocked down at the CAR blueline and got up so slowly, none of the Rangers even seemed to notice. I thought there that it and we'd have Game 7.
Igor was Igor. STELLAR.
Too many lazy icings last night. Especially Roslovic 3 ft from the red line. WTF?!
Kreider now goes into Rangers Lore with Messier, Pete Stemkowski 3OT winner in 1971 as an all-time Ranger hero. This was an "I remember where I was" game.
Dave Maloney screeching call was hilarious.
Hopefully Boston forces Game 7, Fox and Kreider get a few days extra rest.
Imagine this area if we have Rangers-Bruins AND Knicks-Celtics? Insanity.
is handshakes after a hockey playoff series. So much more satisfying when your team wins obviously.
Only person I have seen disrespect the handshake line is Milan Lucic. Every other player tips their cap to the other team (or keeps it inside) and respects the game.
Billy Smith would never shake hands after a series. I don’t think he ever did, even once
Even when his team won? such a douche bag move.
Yup he was a dick about that.
BUT, I met him when I was working at a store in the Walt Whitman Mall in college and he was the nicest guy you ever want to meet.
Also met Duane Sutter. I thought he Jim Ignatowski from Taxi. Too many pucks to the head.
and this is pure gold! I would like the mods to make an exception and archive this one!!
What else is there to say at this point, Kreider basically just decided they were not losing that game. I'll admit I was starting to doubt this team too, it did not look good in the second period. If they win the Cup, this game will be replayed on MSG for years to come. There have been lots of great Rangers playoff wins, but this one is on a different level I think. Just an incredible third period performance, I don't know what else to add. Halfway there.
How do Florida and Boston compare with Carolina? Better, worse, about the same?
Personally, I think Florida is the second best team left after the Rangers, with Dallas right behind them. Their forward group is elite. They are deep, have speed, are the most physical team in the league, highly skilled, and can beat you in a lot of ways. They can beat you to loose pucks, score garbage goals, score off the rush, they're really hard to defend. Defensively, they leave a lot to be desired. Bobrovsky is an excellent goalie but he will have his clunkers too. In my opinion, Florida is a tougher matchup for the Rangers than Carolina was. I highly doubt Boston comes back to win this series, their goaltending is their strong suit, Pastrnak and Marchand are incredible but they don't have much else. That said, Swayman or Ullmark can steal games, which is why they're in position to tie this series on home ice tonight.

I agree with this whole post except FLA is not better than CAR IMO. No current team fore checks or plays with as much pace as CAR and pace is the hardest thing to adjust to if you don't always play that way too.
Also the Hurricanes are about as well balanced a team as there is in the league. But they lacked blue line depth. Pesce being replaced by TDA was likely the difference in the series IMO.
from the puck in this game and the Canuck game last night.. The puck stuck and was sluggish on the Carolina ice and rolled and bounced quite a bit, in the Canuck game it never stopped sliding.. The pucks were not fully frozen in the Ranger game IMO taking away their fast passes and making it more of a board game -Just an observation

Hearing through sources that Chris Kreider's neighbors and NYR fans covered his front lawn with hats last night for when he returns home.
I'm still a bit in shock by that 3rd period. It was impossible to not start thinking about what a third straight year of a multi-game series lead blown would mean for this core. Then #20 puts the team on his back. Legacy game for Kreider. The Igor save on Svechnikov at 4-3 as well. Unbelievable!

No seriously, they did and it's amazing.
I live for moments like this.
It's true! My wife works at a pre-school across the street from his house. I'll try to post the photo
I laid in bed replaying that magnificent third period.
How did they do that as they played an awful second period.
Fox really needs the rest imv as he is playing injured.
Going forward Florida would be a tougher opponent as they are so deep.

Thanks for the breakdown. I was hoping the next series might be a little easier but I guess they will be long series that can go either way from here forward

man. Classic.
Is Mike in Long Beach still around under a different handle? He was fun to mix it up with. He was young and dumb, and loved to talk shit, but he was a good guy at his core.
Mentioned the flu was running through the locker room. Could explain some of Game 5 sluggish effort, could explain why Chytil hadn't played since Game 3. Get the rest and hope BOS/FLA goes 7 games.

I don't really care if that flu thing is eye-wash, spin, or cope of whatever sort....it's working on me! All is well!

Its rare that you hear these stories and you can actually see it on someone’s face. Kreider looked awful yesterday, which makes the hat trick even more impressive.
I've always heard it said the ice at MSG is that way because of the heat from the subway system underneath. Not sure what Carolina's excuse would be!
MSG ice has always been an issue with NBA playing there too.
Subway venting system too was a problem for a long time.. but Rangers benefit from a quick pass open game more than a sluggish one.. throw it in and die on the boards helps Carolina more, Not fully freezing the pucks IMO That was done on purpose

Take the tin foil hat off. Pucks bounce when they're not frozen and wouldn't benefit either team disproportionately. It especially not help the faster team (CAR). That makes no sense.
The home team has to provide frozen pucks to the cooler in the penalty box before each period and the league validates this. every two min of play the puck is replaced with a new frozen puck if not sooner.
Southern cities in particular struggle with the temperature in rinks, while tech can keep the ice frozen the outside air gets in and causes fog, condensation, soft ice, etc. it happens up north too, but later in the year. It was 80's yesterday in Raleigh. If there was any effect to the conditions it was likely because of the weather, not because the Hurricanes warmed up the pucks.
LOL. I told my dad and uncle at the beginning of the playoffs that if they get to the SCF, we are going to a game. I was highly tempted to go last night, had it been tonight with no work in the morning, I would have done it. The logistical part of it would have been grueling for me. I'm 2.5 hours from Raleigh.
RE: Carolina was definitely displaying some classic MSG
I've always heard it said the ice at MSG is that way because of the heat from the subway system underneath. Not sure what Carolina's excuse would be!
The Arena is 7 floors above the ground. It wasn't the subway. MSG Ice nowadays is a million times better than in the '70s when MSG was independently owned. Ned Irish would not let them keep the ice frozen during basketball game like every other arena in the world so the ice never set. Some BS anout the bball fans getting cold. Many Rangers and other players got hurt because of it, Dale Rolfe's career was ended because of it. The Cat was always pissed about it.
that stopped in the '80s under Gulf&Western ownesrship, and 2 subsequent major renovations improved the ice making facilities since.
In the 80s, weren't there complaints about the floor for Knicks games

It's actually kind of remarkable that they've made it this far with Fox being a shell of himself. He's moving around like an 80 year old man out there.
Any of these teams can beat the Rangers. There's never gonna be a cupcake in the ECF or the SCF. But Carolina is far and away my least favorite team to play against. Their style of play is a nightmare. I expect everyone to look far more "like themselves" against the next opponent.
More re: Carolina - I wasn't aware until the series postmortem that I see on twitter from their fans (the twitter algorithm is absolutely FEEDING me Canes accounts), but they are in for a real roster reckoning. Tons of RFAs and UFAs. Good chunk of money "available", but given the number of openings they have it isn't a lot. Lots of different ways they can go with it, but that roster is going to look pretty different regardless.

Maybe I'm nuts, but I think he looks way better than he did against Tampa in that ECF run?

You're nuts he looks terrible. He's playing good defensively, but he doesn't have the same elusiveness/agility offensively. He wasn't ever really fast, but he has some elusiveness.
I don't agree the Aho play was dirty, like Greg thinks, but I do agree that's probably where he was injured.
I agree he isn't peak Fox, I just think he looked worse in the ECF against Tampa, lol.
In the second half of the third period he had a LOT more jump in the offensive zone. Looked a lot more like himself. Maybe he just pulled it, but he got better offensively as the third period went on.
I don't agree the Aho play was dirty, like Greg thinks, but I do agree that's probably where he was injured.
I was talking about the hit by Nick Jensen in the Washington series.
Oh, yeah, right the Aho/Fox play was much earlier this season but I also did not think the Jensen hit was intentional let alone dirty. A penalty because you are responsible for your body, but not malicious IMO.
4 more days to rest injuries before ECF series begins
Anyways LGR!!!!!
End this. PLEASE.
LFGR!!
Rangers win 4-1 tonight. Laf-Kreider-Trocheck with an empty netter from Goodrow.
Let's Go Rangers!
All I can say is, win the damn game, because my confidence in this team right now is very minimal.
I think the third line will play really well.

Blowout loss
Strong win
this series is for the Stanley Cup.
I respect your opinion a lot so I say this with love, this made me sick (knowing how we have blown this).

They had one four game losing streak during their January swoon. Other than that, didn't lose more than two in a row.

Asked if Chytil is an option for Game 6, Laviolette said everyone who practiced today is a full go and in consideration. How they’re feeling physically is a factor, but it’s a coach’s decision.
#NYR have curiously not made Chytil available for comment.
If Chytil is available, put him on Mika's line and move Roslovic to the 3rd or 4th line.
JMO.
It was awesome.

that being said, i fully expect rangers to win tonight with an Igor carry. This series could easily be 3-2 canes going into game 6. If Igor dominates again, rangers will win.

CANES !!! Though I am kind of torn.
Come on man! I’ve been in NC 30 years. I was in Greensboro at the time when the Canes moved down, but no way did I ever consider pulling for them full time over the Rangers.
Go to bed.
You can say this about a lot of their top line guys right now. Poor all around.

Go to bed.
Might as well, Rangers did two games ago.
Yes, ever since the dirty knee on knee hit he took against Washington
Stop watching and posting then. Sheesh.
At a minimum it cost them a game or two of rest.
At worst it sealed their doom.
he isnt good. ive said this for a while.

Ugggh
Devils 2.0
Yeah?
Welp.
Same old Rangers
You're sharp.
Messier time?
Perfect timing. Ha
Tie it up FFS
Is this still open, I'd like a piece please.

Flat footed, stick reaching, no body, that's how
No answer
SAME. OLD. RANGERS
This team is fucking DUMB.!
Historical. NYR fans will not forget
Just my opinion. Game 7. Id put Quick in the net
See if he could give the rangers the lift they need
Does it matter?
Lindgren is terrible. Slow and awful.
K'Andre is stupid.
Schneider is just nondescript.
Trouba is a garbage captain.
Gus' calling card is offense and he's not producing there...

They can't move any of them No trade clauses.
It's not his fault. He's hamstrung with No move contracts. It's amazing IMHO he's gotten them this far.
No. And this time you can’t lay all the blame at the feet of the head coach.
He shouldn't. Get a real GM and bring in some difference makers, retool, revamp. Oh..and stop giving out NMC and NTC like candy, WTF?
We all know they’ll just run it back for a 1st or 2nd round exit again.
Any washed up corpses out there we can bring in to “push us over the top”?
I think he will, but he really fucked up at the Deadline
They’re
This team had the most points. But they weren’t and aren’t the best team.
Not on schedule for another two decades or so

Canes are just flat out playing better hockey on the forecheck and backcheck

"2040! 2040!"
And those first four have a huge asterisk. It isn’t the Rangers fault that there weren’t eight playoff teams in the East this year. Wash only made it because they rules say they have to take eight.
Why are they total losers? I mean Bisonette is, but what is there to be complimentary about?
As I see it they are just being honest.
Same movie every single year
Same movie every single year
They can't blow it up. They can't move these guys, and they don't want to go anywhere. They arr who they are for a whole yet.

Billy Smith would never shake hands after a series. I don’t think he ever did, even once
I'll root for BOS because if you want the NYR to win, you like the match up with BOS more, but also you prefer a game 7 regardless in that series regardless.

100% agree. Handshake line is a great tradition. Of course, much better when your team wins.
I forget, what was up Lucic’s ass that time. He was generally an agitator and goon, so I guess it didn’t take much to get him pissed.

Tkachuk would probably destroy Rempe.

I didn’t mean literally fight, but yeah, I want to see Rempe run those fuckers over.
IDC.
That’s awesome!

I will continue to not watch, now. Keep up the good work and I will read the threads for highlights.

Insanity.

Yup he was a dick about that.
BUT, I met him when I was working at a store in the Walt Whitman Mall in college and he was the nicest guy you ever want to meet.
Also met Duane Sutter. I thought he Jim Ignatowski from Taxi. Too many pucks to the head.

Exactly and just proves once again most fans are wrong
Some of you guys should be embarassed. "Put in Quick. Trade Kreider Fire Drury Series is over"

How did they do that as they played an awful second period.
Fox really needs the rest imv as he is playing injured.

Exactly

Adam Graves said it's way hotter when the arena is packed, too.
Adam Graves said it's way hotter when the arena is packed, too.
New Haven Coliseum was the hottest place I ever played. it was stifling. It was like my grandmothers apartment on Christmas Eve when I was a kid.
Milford Ice Pavilion (where the Drury's home ice at Fairfield Prep was) was the best. So cold in there. Fast ice.

By not going tonight
I'm just relieved I wasn't mentioned in that list lol

More re: Carolina - I wasn't aware until the series postmortem that I see on twitter from their fans (the twitter algorithm is absolutely FEEDING me Canes accounts), but they are in for a real roster reckoning. Tons of RFAs and UFAs. Good chunk of money "available", but given the number of openings they have it isn't a lot. Lots of different ways they can go with it, but that roster is going to look pretty different regardless.
Maybe I'm nuts, but I think he looks way better than he did against Tampa in that ECF run?

It's actually kind of remarkable that they've made it this far with Fox being a shell of himself. He's moving around like an 80 year old man out there.

I was talking about the hit by Nick Jensen in the Washington series.
In the second half of the third period he had a LOT more jump in the offensive zone. Looked a lot more like himself. Maybe he just pulled it, but he got better offensively as the third period went on.

Oh, yeah, right the Aho/Fox play was much earlier this season but I also did not think the Jensen hit was intentional let alone dirty. A penalty because you are responsible for your body, but not malicious IMO.
