but what an ugly inning that was: four runs scored with one ball hit out of the infield (single) and some sloppy fielding. The Yankees slapped Darvish & Cease around, but couldn't do anything today against the guy with an ERA over 6. That's baseball, Suzyn!
Can’t comment on Rizzo but Torres is leadin 2nd baseman in errors … 7. Seems to me he tries to make the fancy play. He could have just gotten in front of the ball and not tried to be cute with the backhander. I learned that in peewee !

Torres has made too many errors, but that was a tough one. 104 MPH exit velocity off the bat. Not a lot of time to react. If you don't get it clean, a ball hit that hard is going to ricochet, so it's not just a matter of throwing yourself in front of it.
Do or die on the backhand pick and he didn't come up with it.
Rizzo first: I like Rizzo as an offensive player. I think he's part of the glue that holds this offense together and has value beyond the back of his baseball card.
That being said he has become a below average first baseman. Boone has already said DJ will be the regular third baseman. Hoepfully he will consider moving him to first as a defensive replacement late in games where they have the lead.
Torres: Torres has mental lapses both on offense and defense. Thats who he is and we've seen it for as long as he's been here. On defense he's made bad plays, he's also made great plays. He's screwed up some bang bang plays, but I don't see him booting routine grounders.
If Torres is going to end up with 15 HR’s and make routine defense and base running mistakes, at some point they have to see what they have in Peraza and Durbin. No point playing him for sentimental reasons.
Hal’s already barking that 300M payroll is unsustainable, Torres won’t be back.
Schmidt is actually struggling today.
Meanwhile Musgrove has caught two liners hit right back at him.

I would love a 6 man rotation when Cole comes back.

It may not look pretty, but his line is plenty good.
I will take 2 out of 3 every series.
O's won so lead back down to 2.

DJ has to replace Rizzo next year too.
