I saw in the last thread you were handing the reins over to LT56 for tonight, and I got impatient, so I started the thread, but wanted to check to make sure no one else did before I submitted it. You've gotten us this far, I'm glad you started us off today...
According to NYR twitter, Brodzinski is coming in for Rempe. Wheeler is banged up, and my guess is Laviolette wants a more viable option than Rempe getting a handful of shifts and playing under 5 minutes tonight. It appears there are no changes to PP1, and PP2 is Gustafsson, Lafreniere, Roslovic, Brodzinski, and Wennberg. Not sure why Chytil is not in that group, and it is kind of disappointing that Lafreniere isn't getting a shot on PP1. This is all per a combination of Vince, Colin Stephenson, Mollie Walker, Larry Brooks.
Just get it F'ing done tonight. The Rangers have not played a good full 60 minute game this series, but they have answered the bell all year long in dealing with adversity. Doesn't get more adverse than facing elimination. Igor is 6-3 career in games facing elimination, with a .925 save percentage and 2.56 GAA. One of those losses was in the bubble, which I don't even really count. He may need that elusive first career playoff shutout tonight. LET'S GO RANGERS!!!!!!!
I've been harping on the same thing for a while now, but not having a RW capable of playing on the first line hurts. Nobody that they've tried there has been any good. Chytil has an excuse, but the others just can't cut it. Would Vesey have been a good option? I don't know. At this point in his career he's a third/fourth liner. What if they brought up Othmann during the last week in the season and tried him at RW, which he had switched to at Hartford? We'll never know.
Anyway, it's been a good season. It is depressing to think that it might end tonight.

I go back and forth between your line of thinking, and the perspective that Mika and Kreider should be able to carry that line no matter who is at RW. Those guys need to get the job done, they account for $15M in payroll and are the heart and soul of the team. Of course it would help if they found the right guy to play there (or didn't trade away the guy that we know worked), but in the end, it's up to Mika and Kreider to generate offense.

I dunno, some weird reason the Rangers losses hit me harder than the Giants losses. Maybe cause the Giants have sucked for so long but outside of a couple of rebuild years, the Rangers were tantalizingly close?!?, dunno, I tear up with every playoff loss…
But, I can't do it anymore. I have to be realistic, these is no Messier coming out of this group. It’s been 30 years, just disappointment after disappointment. I thought the stars all aligned this season, but if this group doesn’t do it, then it’ll be another 10 yrs before they’ll be good enough for ECF again. I don’t have that kinda energy anymore, I’ll still support em but from afar.
Here is hoping for the best - Let’s Go Rangers!

That's what I kind of did after 2015. I stopped taking them seriously. I still cannot believe that loser game 7 on "home ice".
I had 0% confidence they'd win that ECF in 2022. What lead me to them this year more so was the Giants 40-0 game lol It really is weird how some teams are just ultimate failures, just like Toronto.
I did go to 11 Rangers games this year, because I am a baller shot caller.
RE: I want another day or night of NY Rangers hockey
I feel oddly confident? I'm with you, rnargi--however, we need a prediction on goal scorers from you given your blessing of Laf earlier in the playoffs.
DadNYG10 is going to the game tonight. He was there for 3 and 4 too.
2-0 victory. Trocheck and Igor are the goal scorers.
I think Zibby and Laffy get it done tonight. I also think we get a greasy goal from a Roslovic or Kakko. Zibby was so close last game. His breakout is tonight

Glad he picked this game to show up with his $8 mil and everything
A greasy goal from Roslovic?I think that is an hallucination. He's never been within spitting distance of the crease.
Exactly. Look. In 1994 the Talisman throughout the playoffs for me and my brother was the album August and Everything After by Counting Crows. Did you think Mattaue was the guy that night? I've been listening to that album tonight. As Mark said: We will win tonight. I still believe. This is the best team we've had since then. We're winning the fucking game.
Up until the end. You listen to Saban and you think the Rangers didn’t show up. That isn’t accurate. The problem. Is we had a decent first period the last two games and then got smoked thereafter and neither game were we down after a good first. Very bleak situation
RE: They went into their scoring shell in the playoffs
I said I thought they’d get shutout tonight after Thursday’s game..while I obviously hope that’s not the case, if there is a next goal, it HAS to be the Rangers goal. Igor might have to keep it at 1 the rest of the way.
of the defensive zone?????? That’s how you end up with the half assed puck lifts that led to the only goal.
The worst part is they don't even have to. Open ice in front of them but instead of looking up at options, they just chip to an open Panther. Bits the definition of insanity
But again, why are we so insistent on playing Kreider-Zibanejad together on 5v5 when it hasn't worked since the Carolina series? We've been playing musical chairs at RW, but newsflash, it's not just the lack of a complementary RW. Those two have been playing like shit.
If you're not going to split those two up, double-shift Laf. Try Laf on that line.
They’ll prob roll it back next year hoping for a better finish, but my guess is they get bounced in the first or 2nd round…
They got a free pass with Jersey’s injuries this year too.
This was the year.
They're going to run it back because they have so many NTCs, but you're right, this was the year. Drury blew it badly at the Deadline and we were thoroughly outcoached and outplayed in this series.
It may have gone to 6 games, but it wasn't close. The Panthers dominated us.
I just read that Mika, Panarin, Kreider, Trochek, Goodrow and Trouba all have No Move Clauses in their contracts. They may have no choice but to just run it back again next season bc I have no clue how they’ll bring in any free agents with so much money tied into those six players.

Just what it sounds like. They cannot move those players without their consent.
You cant play the way this team did the last 11 games
they actually looked good game 1 vs Carolina - and keep this team together. Changes have to come even if it means we wait another decade to get back to this point. They're not even close ... not remotely close... to being a contender. That was made crystal clear these past 4 weeks. I kept wishing for something to change, but they were soundly beaten in every facet by two teams for a solid month.
Those 6 should be brought back. Maybe K'Andre and Schneider for consistency. And of course Rempe and Edstrom. Othmann should be on the team and Zac Jones can replace Gus.
Everyone else can go take a hike. I'd buyout Trouba, trade Mika, shop Kreider and Panarin (no one's gonna take Panarin and IDK if he'd waive anyway).
such a disappointing performance. But at least the usual suspects keep the threads amusing.
Tell us, Mad Mike, what should the "usual suspects" think and feel? You take a shot across the bow, how about sacking up and tell us who was wrong and why? What amuses you, other people's misery? You're a sad sack.
Some of you are just a freaking joke. They got outplayed. It's no deeper than that. Not a matter of heart, or disgrace... for those that want to get rid pf Panarin and Mika... you're F(cki^g idiots.
it was the inability to score on the PP and to defend on the PK that probably cost them this series. Not 5v5 play.
they were 3rd in both during the regular season.
and were abysmal on the PP in this series and gave up too many on the PK. I think the Rangers had more short-handed goals in the series than PP goals.
Also, they didn't pressure FLA enough to draw more penalties. Most penalties happen when you a: have the puck and b: move your feet they took away one of FLA's weaknesses.
If EDM wins the West the EDM PP vs FLA PK will be fun to watch.
Grow up...acting like a bunch of sore loser babies. You aren't true fans so bug off..
Not true fans because we see the same flaws year after year and don't want to see it any longer but we know we'll have to because management gave these no shows NMCs? OK then.
So what do you think the odds are that NYR win the Cup next season? Or are you happy that they won a shit load ormf regular season games and are satisfied with that, Mr True fan?

Yup. The whining about Panarin is particularly absurd. He had 4 GWGs in these playoffs and his line was the best in this series and all season. He’s arguably the best free agent signing in Rangers history.
Disappointing end to a good season. I hope Othmann and Perrault arrive on the scene soon. Let’s Go Rangers!
But still a damn good season. Wow, the Panthers were just suffocating. Rangers just couldn’t do anything. Every time they tried to clear the puck, there was a Panthers stick to deflect it and stop their momentum. Hardly any room to make plays. And the phuquers neutralized the Rangers best players. That sucked. Very frustrating games to watch after all the ones the Rangers dominated. Panthers deserved to win the series. The pig phuquers!

Law of averages/odds/puck luck..whatever you want to call it..probably be against the NYR from even getting back to the ECF…

Trade Panarin? Loser move. Call the team a bunch of loser fuckups? You're not a fan. Say the team played with no heart? You know nothing about hockey or sports for that matter. Yes be disappointed. Keep your shit in check... stop the whining.

Servo...Bread averaged 1.5 points per game in the regular season. And more than 1 goal per two games. What were his averages in the playoffs. I'll wait right here.

0.938 PPG. Five goals, four game winners. What’s your point? You expect the same PPG against tougher competition in the playoffs? His line was the most productive. One site had him as the best xGF on the team through the playoffs.

What's YOUR point...he can only score against the dregs in the regular season?
Unrestricted free agents: Alexander Wennberg, Jack Roslovic, Erik Gustafsson, Chad Ruhwedel, Blake Wheeler
None of these guys are worth bringing back. Maybe Ruhwedel on the cheap for the third pair, but it's not like we saw much of him this year.
Restricted free agents: Kaapo Kakko, Ryan Lindgren, Braden Schneider
Kakko is the biggest decision. What will he ask? Regardless, I know there are fans of him here and if you remove his draft status from the equation, you'd find a solid defensive forward. But I think he would be much better served on another team. I think the Rangers will trade him.
And with Lindgren, he's a warrior. I mean a true warrior in the mold of Dan Girardi. Incredible toughness. The problem is he's always hurt, he has slow footspeed and he contributes nothing on offense. I have a feeling he's gonna ask for more than he's worth and Drury shouldn't go overboard.
Schneider is a must re-sign. Still a young player and still room for improvement.
Ironically, the #1 guy on my FA wishlist is Brady Skjei. I think he'd be an excellent replacement for Lindgren. Great skater, can put up numbers offensively and can eat up top-4 minutes.
I think when the dust settles, you won't see the corp broken up. I think you'll see Mika, Kreider, Panarin, and Trouba back. They have NMC and they'll most likely use 'em. IDK what the numbers would look like, but I would STRONGLY investigate buying out Jacob Trouba.

I’m pretty sure Laf-Trochek-Panarin was the highest scoring line at 5 on 5 in the NHL this season. No argument about them being too dependent on special teams, but attempts to hang this on Panarin are ridiculous.

Yeah, I want to “run it back” (sports message board cliche du jour) by expressing desire for Othmann and Perrault to arrive soon.
I’m simply defending one player who doesn’t deserve the shit he’s getting.
We’ve been on this board together for decades. I always respect your opinions, but I disagree on Panarin.

He SUCKED. Did you WATCH the GAMES? He was shit in this series. As was Mika, Krieder, and Fox (hurt, I know). Tou expect stars to ELEVATE their games when the games mean more. He did the exact opposite

He SUCKED. Did you WATCH the GAMES? He was shit in this series. As was Mika, Krieder, and Fox (hurt, I know). Tou expect stars to ELEVATE their games when the games mean more. He did the exact opposite
I suppose Messier is wrong then too. He called out Panarin explicitly.
RE: So is game 6 ECF the closest NYC gets to a championship in 2024?
I just read that Mika, Panarin, Kreider, Trochek, Goodrow and Trouba all have No Move Clauses in their contracts. They may have no choice but to just run it back again next season bc I have no clue how they’ll bring in any free agents with so much money tied into those six players.
Just what it sounds like. They cannot move those players without their consent.
This is not a true statement. Look at cap friendly for their trade NMC status next year. Mika, Panarin and Trochek have NMC contracts next year. Krieder, Goodrow and Trouba have modified no trade contracts. They both must submit a 15 team no trade list by July 1. So those three players could be traded to other teams.
to the Panthers, like Pjacs said. One of the best overall teams in recent memory. Super bummed but, yeah that Rangers PTSD is in full effect. As always, Go Rangers
I am not disappointed that they lost. Florida is a good team and it was not crazy to think they would win.
What I am disappointed is how they lost. Florida played well, but the Rangers played poorly. They lacked energy and they were sloppy virtually the entire series. They did not remotely resemble the team that won the President's Trophy. If it wasn't for Igor, this series wouldn't have even been close.
Florida plays a very disciplined and conservative D. But, in 6 games the Rangers never came up with an answer. On the PP they passed the puck around forever when they needed shots. IT was a very frustrating series to watch.
They did not remotely resemble the team that won the President's Trophy.
Said every President’s Trophy for the last eleven years.
Not true. It has nothing to do with losing the series. It was the fact that they looked like a mediocre team doing it.

This is true. I never once thought watching them they looked like a team that'd win the cup. I honestly thought they'd Dallas Cowboy and lose on the first round.
have a dominant #1 center. We have the opposite.
Some teams are built for the SC playoffs (Florida) and some for the useless
Regular season (NYR). I hope Drury understands this, so far he hasn’t.
with a lousy ending. We all wish the Giants would have seasons like this instead of being at the bottom of the barrel.
Whether Florida forced the Rangers to play like they did or it was the Rangers' counter move, it didn't work. The Rangers rarely carried the puck out of their zone. They had no established break out. They would throw it out to center (or to a Panther expecting it at the blue line) and hope another Ranger picks it up. On the rush they dumped it in, cycled around the boards and sent shots from the blue line that Bobrovsky had no problem with.
Too many of the Rangers' shots were from long range and too many of the Panthers' shots were from in close. I'm not a fan of all the stats that TV throws at you, but slot shots told the whole story. If it wasn't for Igor the scores would have been very different.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the off season. The core will stay. They aren't getting rid of Mika, Kreider, Panarin or Fox.

Yes. I agree. The Rangers are built to win the President's Trophy, the Panthers are built to win the Stanley Cup.
Tough ending. Panthers played better. NYR didn’t deserve to win the series, but there was a lot to be encouraged about. Best players have to play at their best in the biggest games. Unfortunately, they didn’t (Igor excepted).
Drury and coaching staff need to figure out what is missing to get the SC.
Roster as presently comprised with probably stay mostly intact.
What needs to be added to get the Cup?

A #1 C who isn't the streakiest player on the team and so mentally weak he can't be counted on in big spots.
Fun season, boys…our power play going stale, Fox being dinged, Zibby and Krieder MIA after the Carolina series. Just too much to over come against that squad, even with Igor’s heroics
Hopefully, Othmann can be a better offensive version of Cuylle. They need more toughness and Cuylle was just about the only guy willing to stick his nose in it.
I’ve just about had it with Trouba. How can such an experienced player make so many mental errors? I doubt there’s any interest by other teams with his contract and I doubt even more strongly that he’d waive his NMC. Bread just is what he is at this point… a great regular season player not built for postseason play. The only hope is to lessen the team’s dependence on him come postseason.

They aren’t going to shut down McDavid and Draisaitl the way they could the Rangers. I think Edmonton has a good chance despite subpar goaltending.
Greg. Agreed. I think that series will go the same way the 2023 Finals went with Vegas if they play Edmonton. Don't really care about it either way. I don't watch much hockey games with other teams anyway.
That's just it for me. I don't think Florida is a better team. They just played better by a wide margin. The Rangers best players didn't show up this series.
This playoffs, I don't think it's fair to criticize Panarin for the entire post season. He was good in the first two rounds; a far cry from the prior 2 years. But, in the ECF, he was non existent. He wasn't even getting shots, which was reminiscent of the last 2 years.
It wasn't just him. The whole team, but even worse for the top 2 lines, were just too passive. They had no answer for Florida's very conservative D. It's not like it was the first time they've face it. And, in 6 games they couldn't figure it out? It's not like Florida really changed things up much. The Rangers just played a terrible series, even in the games they won. As you go deeper, you can't rely solely on being opportunistic. You have to be able to generate offense on your own on 5v5. They just couldn't. They were content to pass the puck around until they turned it over.
It also didn't help that some of their better players came up very small in big moments. Zibanejad turned it over badly at the end of Game 5, forcing Wheeler to commit the penalty. Trouba was way out of position on the subsequent PP to allow the goal. Then Trouba turned the puck over in the neutral zone to set up the first goal in Game 6. Fox seemingly played hurt the entire series, which hampered them. Zib and Panarin went into shells for much of the series. Kreider as well.
I am also sick of the false Rempe fascination. Guy plays 4-6 minutes a game. He isn't impacting the game overall, outside of fluke goal. He takes stupid penalties and gets whistled for some BS. He isn't bad and can be a factor in the future. But, he wasn't a big part of their success in the regular season, so acting like he would be a savior in the post season was stupid.
If the refs called one of the penalties in the final minute of Game 4 that they should have called, maybe we have a game seven. Or of Zibanejad could score and not hit the cross bar.
This series was close. People need to stop analyzing the series like Igor isn't part of the team.
Panthers also had a pretty obvious high stick on the play that led to goal one last night when they knocked the puck down.
I can't see who could argue that. They did everything they needed to do and looked great doing it. Whereas the Rangers were just stymied - maybe 40 minutes of great hockey over 6 games.
Part of what makes hockey great is the playoffs are so grueling the better team wins. Flukes usually get washed out.

Oh stop. How about if they call a blatant slash on tkachuk breakaway? He has a pen shot. Maybe he scores
If they called either of the ones at the end of game 4, Panthers don't get the power play that led to the GWG. If they whistle the high stick before the first goal last night, the play turns out differently.
The Rangers didn't do their job, but neither did the refs.

+1
Can't stand them or their coach or anyone named Tkachuk.
Quote:
I've been harping on the same thing for a while now, but not having a RW capable of playing on the first line hurts. Nobody that they've tried there has been any good. Chytil has an excuse, but the others just can't cut it. Would Vesey have been a good option? I don't know. At this point in his career he's a third/fourth liner. What if they brought up Othmann during the last week in the season and tried him at RW, which he had switched to at Hartford? We'll never know.

This. You want to win a the Cup you step up.

Yeah. I'm not ready to switch over to boring ass summer and baseball.
We’ll have to rely on PP1 entirely
We’ll have to rely on PP1 entirely
I like laffy on PP1, swap one out.....something needs to change....

Agreed.
Will it be lecture night about how it's not annoying to be a Rangers fan and all of the yearly positive affirmations and blah blah?
Or ...
Game 7?
DadNYG10 is going to the game tonight. He was there for 3 and 4 too.
2-0 victory. Trocheck and Igor are the goal scorers.
Glad he picked this game to show up with his $8 mil and everything
Exactly.
10 16 13
21 72 24
50 22 96
Cullye deserves more playing time. He’s earned it.
Anyhoo, LFGR!!!!
Killed. Here we go
Panarin with 2 already
Captain Fuckup
Cool, cool…
He went for the hit (which is the only thing he can do well) and missed. And it led to the goal.
Great job, Captain
Captain Fuckup
This guy is terrible. Ready to hear how he doesn’t suck and it’s somehow not his fault
Yep.. boring. same old shit. I guess this is what happens when they're not playing Ottawa or Columbus.
This certainly seems true at this point.

The scoring momentum they generate in the regular season never seems to carry over once the playoffs begin.
I said I thought they’d get shutout tonight after Thursday’s game..while I obviously hope that’s not the case, if there is a next goal, it HAS to be the Rangers goal. Igor might have to keep it at 1 the rest of the way.
Very boring and unproductive players
Laffy this year is starting to live up to expectations
Kaapko I don’t know if he will ever
Chytil was hurt all year but is so talented
Panarin doesn’t show up in playoffs but is a stud in regular season
Drury needs to get another big time player off season
Excited about Perrault and Othman
Once again. Wait til next season
Bob has it too easy.
Captain Fuckup
I’m so fucking tired of his shit. He’s basically Niko Mikkola for four times the salary.
We dump and chase and the Panthers easily carry the puck into our zone
Frustrating to watch….
Because they're a pile of garbage franchise plain and simple
We need 2 to win. And 25 minutes to get them. Anyone confident?
The worst part is they don't even have to. Open ice in front of them but instead of looking up at options, they just chip to an open Panther. Bits the definition of insanity
Mika? LOL hahahahaha
If you're not going to split those two up, double-shift Laf. Try Laf on that line.
Trocheck 8 hits
Panarin 3 turnovers
It’s a given that Panarin will disappoint in playoffs.

2-0 FLA
And Lindgren got dogwalked there.
Sounds about right. Brutal to watch, but the Panthers are just better
The two wins were complete coin flip games, one in which they were the lesser team.
FL better at every position save one.
Enjoy the President’s Trophy and tip your hat.
I told my wife that after the first panthers goal
They have to roll it back. Too many NTCs. They aren't going to leave. Why would they?

Just disgraceful
They got a free pass with Jersey’s injuries this year too.
This was the year.
imho

They're going to run it back because they have so many NTCs, but you're right, this was the year. Drury blew it badly at the Deadline and we were thoroughly outcoached and outplayed in this series.
It may have gone to 6 games, but it wasn't close. The Panthers dominated us.
Shesterkin deserved better, but his teammates are gutless fuckups.
Hank is shaking his head.
Twats
Good choice. Fuck these losers.
Just what it sounds like. They cannot move those players without their consent.
I underestimated them. No room at all out there. They epitomize the concept of layers. and come at you in waves.
their D, the weak link, couldn't even be exposed because their forwards swarmed and Bobrovsky played really well too.
I'd be surprised if they don't win the cup.
Trocheck
Fox
Igor
Cuylle
Quick
Those 6 should be brought back. Maybe K'Andre and Schneider for consistency. And of course Rempe and Edstrom. Othmann should be on the team and Zac Jones can replace Gus.
Everyone else can go take a hike. I'd buyout Trouba, trade Mika, shop Kreider and Panarin (no one's gonna take Panarin and IDK if he'd waive anyway).

Actually you are gutless. That's a bullshit assessment of the team. They played hard. The other team was better. That doesn't make them gutless...
Just disgraceful
Disgraceful? Because they weren't the better team? They got outplayed. No "disgrace" in that at all...
Tell us, Mad Mike, what should the "usual suspects" think and feel? You take a shot across the bow, how about sacking up and tell us who was wrong and why? What amuses you, other people's misery? You're a sad sack.

Really feel sorry for Igor who was amazing this series.

The Panthers are certainly legit. And I certainly suffer from Rangers PTSD.
Yes. They got some stupid presidents cup.
Saw this in 12, 15, 22. Yawn. Boring.
This. Five on five matters.
they were 3rd in both during the regular season.
and were abysmal on the PP in this series and gave up too many on the PK.
I felt like this was Fox's best game of the series. He looked active and physical. I wonder if we will hear what is wrong with him.

0.938 PPG. Five goals, four game winners. What’s your point? You expect the same PPG against tougher competition in the playoffs? His line was the most productive. One site had him as the best xGF on the team through the playoffs.

Ironically, the #1 guy on my FA wishlist is Brady Skjei. I think he'd be an excellent replacement for Lindgren. Great skater, can put up numbers offensively and can eat up top-4 minutes.
I think when the dust settles, you won't see the core broken up. I think you'll see Mika, Kreider, Panarin, and Trouba back. They have NMC and they'll most likely use 'em. IDK what the numbers would look like, but I would STRONGLY investigate buying out Jacob Trouba.

15 points in 16 playoff games, but he can only score against the dregs of the league?

The point is that you are whistling in the wind if you assume as management that a PP that carried the team disproportionately during the regular season is even remotely likely to do so through four rounds of playoffs
Lost another big game.
Who bets money ON the Rangers, lol?

And what do you do about Miller? I've liked the guy a lot but he's had lots of turnovers in the playoffs.

Same core. Same results: disappointment in May/June. Igor is FA after next season?
That makes FIVE seasons in a row now.

I’m pretty sure Laf-Trochek-Panarin was the highest scoring line at 5 on 5 in the NHL this season. No argument about them being too dependent on special teams, but attempts to hang this on Panarin are ridiculous.

Exactly. Yet you want to run it back. Insanity, defined. This core will never win.

I suppose Messier is wrong then too. He called out Panarin explicitly.
Well, the Rangers were in the Stanley Cup Finals in 2014, but yeah, New York sports has sucked.
This sucks.
Feel better sticking up for a franchise that hasn't done shit in 30 years? Good for you.
I watch every game and I'll respond how ever I want to. Thanks.
Zibanejad is my biggest scapegoat. Trouba too. What was he doing on that first goal?
This sucks.
What sucks is having to look at another chart lol
Quote:
I would keep Goodrow. The others could be traded.
Cap Friendly New York rangers - ( New Window )
What I am disappointed is how they lost. Florida played well, but the Rangers played poorly. They lacked energy and they were sloppy virtually the entire series. They did not remotely resemble the team that won the President's Trophy. If it wasn't for Igor, this series wouldn't have even been close.
Florida plays a very disciplined and conservative D. But, in 6 games the Rangers never came up with an answer. On the PP they passed the puck around forever when they needed shots. IT was a very frustrating series to watch.
Said every President’s Trophy for the last eleven years.
Said every President’s Trophy for the last eleven years.
Not true. It has nothing to do with losing the series. It was the fact that they looked like a mediocre team doing it.
Several big names came up small...curious to see what happens.
Looks like the Ranger will be in contention for awhile.....this coach was a great addition.
Seems like the same playoff flaws repeat itself and must be solved.
Now the NHL playoffs goes from a national interest to regional market interest......big dollars were lost last night!!!!
I have more respect for Jed Ortmeyer than I do him, at the moment.

This is true. I never once thought watching them they looked like a team that'd win the cup. I honestly thought they'd Dallas Cowboy and lose on the first round.
Some teams are built for the SC playoffs (Florida) and some for the useless
Regular season (NYR). I hope Drury understands this, so far he hasn’t.
But don't be too hard on this Rangers team. The Giants could only wish they played "as badly" as the Blue Shirts.

Yes. I agree. The Rangers are built to win the President's Trophy, the Panthers are built to win the Stanley Cup.
Drury has some work to do.
Roster as presently comprised with probably stay mostly intact.
What needs to be added to get the Cup?

That's it. That's what's missing.
Fun season, boys…our power play going stale, Fox being dinged, Zibby and Krieder MIA after the Carolina series. Just too much to over come against that squad, even with Igor’s heroics
It was a good season tho
Hopefully, Othmann can be a better offensive version of Cuylle. They need more toughness and Cuylle was just about the only guy willing to stick his nose in it.
I’ve just about had it with Trouba. How can such an experienced player make so many mental errors? I doubt there’s any interest by other teams with his contract and I doubt even more strongly that he’d waive his NMC. Bread just is what he is at this point… a great regular season player not built for postseason play. The only hope is to lessen the team’s dependence on him come postseason.
Gus is gone. Free Zac Jones.
But don't be too hard on this Rangers team. The Giants could only wish they played "as badly" as the Blue Shirts.
The Tommy Devito story for a month was more memorable than the Rangers bombing out in the ECF again for the 97th time.

They aren’t going to shut down McDavid and Draisaitl the way they could the Rangers. I think Edmonton has a good chance despite subpar goaltending.
This series was close. People need to stop analyzing the series like Igor isn't part of the team.
Panthers also had a pretty obvious high stick on the play that led to goal one last night when they knocked the puck down.
Part of what makes hockey great is the playoffs are so grueling the better team wins. Flukes usually get washed out.

Oh stop. How about if they call a blatant slash on tkachuk breakaway? He has a pen shot. Maybe he scores
Stop blaming refs
The Rangers didn't do their job, but neither did the refs.
