Just walked off the #Giants’ practice field. Malik Nabers was ELECTRIC today. 2 deep TDs from Drew Lock:
One on a 9 route down the left sideline vs Cor’Dale Flott on an accurate deep Lock throw
And a leaping, highlight-reel catch on a Lock improv rollout and shot play over top of the safeties. Nabers improv’d, flew up high and snagged the ball and appeared to land in bounds inside the left sideline in the end zone — incredible catch
In early routes, he made an insane grab on a Daniel Jones throw way out in front of him
Big day for the Giants’ 1st round pick

On Malik Nabers today: I have not seen a receiver have a practice like he did today since Odell. Wish I can give you more than words and the video is the team opts to put out.
Jumped off the page, so to speak. If this were training camp, my word.

Nabers had a monster day. Had two long TD catches. The second one was an acrobatic leaping grab in the end zone
Chris B from the The Giant Insider Podcast posted a video: "Malik Nabers...he looks like the real deal.'
Oh brother, just maybe Jones was testing Nabers speed to learn what the rookie is capable of. Why does everything have to be viewed as Jones doing something poorly?

So the two plays downfield for TDs were throws from Luck and the one that was way out in front of him that he had to make a great play on was from Jones. Not surprising

Because of people who somehow find a "maybe Jones did that on purpose" explanation for every time Jones makes a mistake?

Maybe I'm missing something, but is a TD pass a mistake?

No, it's not. And both of Nabers' TD receptions today came from Lock.
Me neither. But let's play fair. When Odell made that great one-handed catch, was Eli's throw called a mistake?
I think that might very well be the case.

Jaden Daniels has 100 bucks that says otherwise
I have no issue with the throw. I took issue with Steve suggesting that maybe DJ did it on purpose.
The faint praise is absurd.

than it couldn’t have been that far out in front of him. Not sure how that works other than it wasn’t a perfect throw but apparently good enough.

Exactly. Maybe he did it on purpose? Jeezus man

Wouldn't it be funny is Nabers was the main reason Daniels looked so good last season?
Those were just the TDs to Nabers. And remember Jones still isn't doing 11-on-11s yet.
He's best served to sit for at least half a season anyway.
There were quite a few teams who thought this way
It truly is. I wouldn't blame you if you stopped posting.
Hopefully Neal gets in there sooner than later. If not, they must move over Eluemunor.

Haha, classic post. Daniel Jones testing out Nabers' capabilities.
Well sure, I can see that. If Nabers isn't going to be able to perform to the level required of a gunslinger like Daniel Jones, he might as well know now. That way Jones can go elsewhere with his downfield throws in 2024.
Inaccurate.
This is the kind of performance indicative of bad quarterbacking.
Drew Lock, who will never be mistaken for John Elway, is going to win the QB job.

Who killed Daniel Jones for the throw?
I'm pretty sure the gripe you have is with your own reading comprehension.

As far as a ball being way overthrown, couldn't have been too overthrown if it was caught. Add that Jones is getting limited snaps so his timing is going to be off. We are talking about OTAs without pads. How about we be happy that Nabers looks very good.
Just like the beats predicting sacks or saying Burns or Thibs likely would have had sacks on a play. How do you say that when the oline isn't in pads. Pretty easy for a defender to just run around a player when there is micro-contact.

Again, the only gripe about the DJ throw wasn't actually about the throw itself. It was about the silly suggestion that maybe DJ did it on purpose to test Nabers.
No one cares about the actual throw being a little bit out in front and Nabers having to adjust to it, because that's the point of drafting a receiver like Nabers. But to suggest that Jones did it on purpose is inane.
I had the same thought.

I agree that the "testing" POV was beyond a stupid comment so stupid I glossed right over it. But no, people(person) were making snide comments on the Jones throw being inaccurate as if it were part and parcel. If the "testing" comment was stupid, so were the ones implying Jones is expected to be inaccurate, especially in OTAs and after knee surgery 6/7 months ago.

Plus, all the reports on the day were that Jones looked great. Obviously you can't read much into OTA reports, but if people choose to comment on them, you would hope they would get the reporting facts right. Some folks on this thread don't even seem to be aware that Jones is not fully participating and is in on 7-7s but not 11-11's yet. So Lock taking those reps. It's not like this hasn't been discussed/reported over and over. Nothing like an agenda, I guess.
True. But if we're being fair, how is "maybe DJ did it on purpose?" not agenda-driven?
Maybe that agenda just doesn't bother you so you don't notice it?
Inaccurate.

Drew Lock, who will never be mistaken for John Elway, is going to win the QB job.
In 2022, Daniel Jones had an 81% on-target rate (472 throws) which led the entire NFL. Number 2 was Aaron Rodgers. The only 2 QBs in the league to exceed 80%.
Also, the earth is round.

You are trying too hard to rationalize. One silly throw away line and you are hanging on it more than those disparaging him that he made a somewhat offline throw(yet still completed it). I think we can all agree he wasn't just seeing if Nabers can catch a poorly thrown ball on purpose. What is sad is disparaging a guy for the slightly offline throw in OTAs while recovering from ACL surgery.
Also, the earth is round.
In 2022 Rodgers's passes traveled 1300+ more yards than Jones's in aggregate, and traveled 1.6 more yards per throw.
The on target component between Rodgers and Jones is a drastically different measurement considering the types of throws.

He was LAST in ADOT and LAST in Y/A. I would hope that an NFL starting QB would be on target when he leads the league throwing behind the LOS, and barely throws anything over 6 yards. Also, 1+1=2. I know, advanced math is a bitch.

Remember, Herbert's YPA in 2022 was identical to Jones at 6.4...
We really don't need to relitigate 2022 over. The numbers haven't changed and Jones is vertically challenged.

You should stop comparing Herbert to Jones. It's embarrassing. Yes his Y/A was low in 2022 but Herbert threw for the most yards in the history of the NFL to start his career. If Jones had that kind of overall productivity we wouldn't complain about him. There is a reason Herbert is universally appreciated whereas Jones' play underwhelms almost all observers and analysts.
I asked this before. What's the difference, safety wise, that JD is limited to 7 on 7? 7 on 7, 11 on 11, no contact in both drills.

2022 was also an outlier for Herbert. The line was a mess, and they like the Giants went to a shorter/volume pass game.
The key difference is Herbert passed for 1600 more yards and took twice as many deep shots as Jones that year.

He wasn't last in neither IAY/A or CAY/A. Yes the offense was limited in big plays, and when your wide receivers are primarily David Sills, Marcus Johnson, Isaiah Hodgins, and Richie James, that's going to happen. They didn't create many explosive plays, that's factual. Also factual they were 15th in total offense (16th in points per drive) with those receivers, and the pass game with Jones wasn't last in either category. If you want to say bottom of the league, go ahead. They weren't going to be the '99 Rams with those receivers.
As a Giants fan, you would hope they have progress to where Brian Daboll wants them to be now with Nabers on board. I, however, feel like many here prefer some things not to happen a specific way because then they might disappear from the message board for a while.
I'm sure you and the rest of the polyanna posse can start your own subreddit exclusively for DJ enthusiasts.
