Makes me shake my head. Nothing against Saylors…..but we have a plethora of RBs…….why aren’t we trying to sign the best guys from the USFL who play positions we are weak in? Like QB, OL, DL, Secondary, LB…..which I realize is practically every other position besides WR and RB and K.

My theory: kick returns. Ghobrial talked about how with the new rules that kick returns are going to look alot like running the ball on offense. Singletary, Corbin, and Gray can't do returns from the running back group. The new rules also mean you need two returners on every kick. Tyrone Tracy is a shoo-in for one spot. The other back there has been Dante Miller for camp, but we'll see. They probably don't want to use Olszewski or McKenzie because the one of the two that doesn't do the return need to be able to block, and they both suck at it.
They need more guys who they can stash or call who can help with kicks. Saylors has a lot of kick return experience - he averaged a little over 26 YPR on 43 kicks in college. His final season he had 750 yards on 25 kicks for a crazy 30 YPR. That was FCS though, so I see this signing as seeing if he can handle kicks and blocking at this level if they need someone in a pinch.
