Best bet: New York Giants Over 6.5 (+120) The Giants were not surprised that Darren Waller retired this week. And probably not that upset about it either, as injuries and maybe some focus issues rendered Waller less than the dominant tight end he was with the Raiders. The Giants also probably got a chuckle when some people thought Drew Lock was brought in to take Daniel Jones’ job. Jones is not that bad, people. He will be able to get the ball to Malik Nabers. And Brian Daboll didn’t suddenly forget how to coach last season when the Giants disappointed many and fell from 9-7-1 to 6-11. This is a great bounce-back spot, and a defense led by Dexter Lawrence II and Kayvon Thibodeaux will be much better with the addition of Brian Burns. |
A lot of that falls on the OL & given the state of the OL going back like a decade...I ain't confident.
"That's right. I'm all in, dogs. 11-6. There it is. I said it."
The defense is completely different under the new DC. The major question is how long it takes them to figure out the new system.

OL stunk and the offense itself stunk, the defense wasn't exactly stellar either. Some people were upset when AShawn Robinson wasn't resigned, but he was supposed to be a run stuffer. It seemed to me that the only thing he stuffed was his stomach at meal time.

From reading a thread, here, a while ago, apparently the new defense coach has a priority in stopping the run first, by requiring a lot of hitting/tackling by the secondary.
Figuring out the new defense will be one thing, and keeping starters on the field possibly could be another.
If a pro-gambler is making this recomendation - I would run-away from the nutjob. There isn't any other "best bet?"
So if we start Drew Lock we go undefeated?

But the schedule is brutal. Playing the AFC North we probably lose every game. Except maybe the Steelers. Wash is a lot better so I think we split.
So I think the team will be much improved but the record won’t show it this year. Yes Parcells “you’re only as good as your record” yada yada… but still this is the best team we’ve had in a while.
I think the defense is significantly better, especially against the run. Too much talent not to be better. And I'm hoping with my fingers crossed that the OL is finally a better unit, that happens and the offense should at least be closer to 18th than 28th.
~10th ranked defense
~20th ranked offense
Basically a .500 team that will depend on luck to decide if they are closer to the 8th pick in the draft or making a WC spot.
