The Hawks are considering Donovan Clingan with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, league sources tell @ClutchPoints.
not a strong class + his size and ability to move make him a lock for the top 3 I think. At worst he’s going to be a premier rim defender and should have a better offensive game than a guy like Gobert.
And has some skill and traits you can hang your hat on. Sarr, Risacher, Buselis have lots of upside but are riskier. This draft is a tough one for those wanting to trade down early with no clear blue chips to make it worth the move.
This draft class sucks. '25 is supposed to be a monster one, with Flagg being the consensus top overall pick.
Flagg isn't the consensus just yet. Likely. Sure. But Ace Bailey might have some shot at it. Add Dylan Harper to that list and those 3 alone are better prospects than pretty much anyone in the top this year.
Haha. Care to explain? He's a Blue Devil so I'll hate him this coming season. But your beef with him? I know he's from Vacationland/close proximity to Storrs... did he pass on the Huskies?
this seems like a year when two picks in the first aren't that helpful, but there isn't a huge fall-off from the lottery to the 24th & 25th picks.
Which means that scouting is going to be extremely important; can you spot the guys who'll develop, like IQ and Deuce?
I think the Knicks need an infusion of young depth on cheap contracts so I think they'll use one or two of their three picks.
My bold prediction: If the Knicks keep one or both of those first-rounders, they'll pick at least one player who's not on our radar, maybe a kid from Europe or a very young player from college, who'll have fans saying "WHO????? WTF?????" The pick will be based on potential upside alone. It'll be panned (CBS Sports gave the IQ pick a D+), and there'll be a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth, and "LOL Knicks" on social media and NBA Twitter. And in two years he'll be considered a steal at that draft spot.
But if Terrance Shannon slips to the back of the 1st Rd/2nd that is an absolute steal. I feel he was the most talented guy in the B1G this past season and his game definitely translates to the NBA. The sexual assault allegation which turned out to be bogus really put a dark cloud over him.
RE: Not saying he's the best fit with this Knicks team

Getting to the line 9 times a game is totally nuts. Hes a 5th year senior but there’s a lot to like as a player on both ends.

I have seen highlights. All of them seem to focus on him driving (whether in transition game or half court) and finishing. Impressive speed and agility with the ball.

How would you assess the rest of his game?
It may just be because he was just on TV but he reminds me quite a bit of Finals MVP Jaylen Brown. Good defender, good not great shooter, excellent attacking the rim and finishing and drawing fouls.
If he was 20 instead of 24 and didn’t have the legal issues he’s probably a top 5 pick. Especially in this weak draft
But man what an underwhelming draft class. If I were the hawks - I would stock up on picks and trade out of it.

Why woild anyone trade for that pick?

To quote Judge Haller...'Well, that would explain the hostility.'

Of course, I dislike Duke and am not sure their coach can get what is needed out of this class of five-star players.
Isaiah Collier
Ryan Dunn
Adem Bona
Jamal Shead
Oso Ighodaro
but I actually like it in the 20-30 range for adding solid rotation players

If I'm the Knicks, I'd hate to use all three picks and not be able to kick any of them out into the future to preserve trade ammo.

I, too, am unreasonably bitter about this haha.
