How the hell do you go from juggernaut to shit show in the span of the month? Better yet how do you do it 2 times in 3 seasons and not have any heads roll?

Rodon's first inning runs given up last four starts: 3,3,5,4.
He's either not able or willing to throw at top velocity in the first inning.
Let me amend that: that's four of the last five starts where he's given up those first inning runs. He did have a zero i the first vs the Reds in his last start.

Oh that's easy.. Boone and his inept coaching staff that's how. He said it himself on an interview after this game.
He seems to have a good eye and short quick swing. I'm looking forward to seeing how he adjusts as MLB pitchers adjust to him. For a guy who only recently started playing 1B full time he seems better or at least not any worse than the current version of Rizzo
The big disappointments for me this year have been Volpe and Wells. I expected more offense from both of them. But they're still MLB babies so hopefully the light goes on for both of them in the second half.
The other disappointment is Schmidt getting hurt. He looked like he had developed into a solid #3 starter ahead of schedule but then like most pitchers got hurt. Any word on when he'll be back?
I'm curious to see if they can pull out of this losing streak and be a dangerous playoff team or not. The similarities to 2022 are too coincidental to ignore though.
Did anyone else notice Grisham jog to 1st in the 9th inning and get thrown out by 20 feet even though the 2nd baseman bobbled the ball? That can't happen and can't be ignored. He makes Aaron Hicks look like Brett Gardner when it comes to hustle and intensity.
I really don't put much stock in MLB managers being difference makers but if I ran the Yankees and was stuck with this roster and see 2022 potentially being repeated over again I'd fire Boone because it's about the only change they can make.
Of course if that happened whoever succeeds him will probably just be another front office puppet anyway but try something, do something. There's no help in MiLB. The Yankees have nothing to offer for impact help in the trade market. Hal wants to cut payroll not increase it. What else can you do but fire the manager and hope that shocks the clubhouse into playing harder and smarter?
The lineup is filled with guys who get on base 30% of the time. Tough to win games that way unless everyone can hit 30 HRs.
This, to me, is where Volpe needs to improve. His 3 plus K to BB ratio is well below average according to fangraphs. Until then he’s better suited for the bottom of the order. He can still generate runs that way with 1-3 doing their jobs.
2024 is going to be just another year of being a little above average.
Same guys and same results. The slide isn’t stopping soon and they haven’t hit bottom yet. Disappointed in Verdugo and Volpe. DJ and Rizzo were showing signs of weakness over the past few years and Stanton is who he is….we have to live with that or eat the money. Nothing since 2009 and we just keep charting the same course year over year. Hal isn’t even closely engaged in fixing things and Cash & Boone now have a list of reasons from the previous playbook as to why. We’re clearly going to lose Soto next year, he’d be stupid to stay here and waste his time and career.
This really sucks
Poor approach at the plate buy everyone but Judge and Soto. Rice looks like he gets it. Volpe has no business swinging the way he does. level off at make contact. Stop swinging for the seats.
Until fans stop buying tickets Hal will not make the appropriate changes in FO.
Player development is also a big ?.
I have said this over and over. It is a business for Hal. Why should he make changes if the fans are willing to pay big bucks to see his team. Before anyone says I already bought the tickets, still go. However, you don’t have to buy concessions to go to a baseball game. If you don’t hit Hal in the wallet,he has no incentive to change.
Is a real problem. It will be interesting when Rizzo is ready to return and IF Rice continues to hit like he is, do the Yankees have the stupidity to give Rizzo his job back?
Actually I think Hal is being saved by the Yankees opponents fans treating Yankee Stadium like any other NYC tourist attraction and buying the tickets Yankees fans are ignoring.
Yankee Stadium is now part of the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty NYC tourist rota. It's easy to get cheap seats on the secondary market since demand among the fan base is probably at a 25 year low.
I wonder how the YES ratings are doing this year?
Since Hal treats the new stadium as really nothing more than a shopping mall he may as well sell naming rights too.
Met Life East would make sense since that's what Yankee Stadium is becoming.

The stadium was packed for 6 straight days last week. That's not a bunch of out of towners. There are not cheap seats on the secondary market. I know because I checked all week because a friend was in and we were thinking of going. 200 level OF seats were $90 or more. Even 300 level weren't cheap they ranged from like 60-$100. Come on we're not in last place there's not a bunch of Reds fans packing YS. This past month has sucked. I'm as frustrated as anyone but YS is still packed with Yankee fans.
Tommy Kahnle just keeps giving

Kahnle has been ass since the day he got here.

I got yelled at for suggesting the front office has a big say in the lineup construction, so watch out....

I was hoping they'd do that. Better spot for Verdugo. More confidence with Rice at the plate whenever Soto or Judge get on.

Anything can happen on any given night, but Verdugo is a pretty desperate choice for a leadoff hitter.
.302 OBP for the season and .177/.244/.266 slash over his last 20 games.

Agreed. Verdugo's not a good choice. Just a better one at the moment.
