Keeping the starters away from any of the pre-season games was another huge mistake! I hope they don't do that again.
Not right away.
People say this, but look at the Giants record against Dallas over the past 10 years.
It's not readiness, it's roster.
Daily repeat of dull questions like “do you think scoring more points is important this season?” and gotcha questions designed to try and get him to say something controversial, as in “you gave X player 2 reps at that position yesterday - does that mean you’re disappointed in Y player so far?”

Coaches doing their press conferences before practice each day makes the Q & A even worse. All we ever get is “we’ll have to get out on the field today and see how it goes”. No matter what the questions are. They should do them after practice. Not that we’d get great answers then either but at least it takes away the lame escape hatch of not having practiced yet
Our 3 day mini-camp really had one day. The second day was 1 hour and the 3rd day was scrapped.
Did we learn a lesson from last year and being utterly unprepared? Sorry, but from the outside in, this all appears like "light work."

You do realize that there is a CBA that now strictly regulates how much teams can practice, right? Do you honestly think this is just the Giants deciding to be soft and they don’t need/want to practice?
Education about CBA limitations on training camp hours is available at pages 162-63, Sections 6 and 7, entitled "Five Day On-Field Acclimation Period" and "Conduct of Practices".

The team also built the entire offense around Waller (who by all objective accounts looked like a beast in camp) and he ends up getting hurt a few days before the season. Maybe that was a poor decision, but playing time in preseason games has nothing to do with that.
I'm not sure that playing the starters a few extra series in preseason games would've salvaged last year's mess. The team overachieved in Daboll's first year, and the weakest position on the roster was gutted by injuries. Many of the guys who ended up playing on the OL did get a lot of playing time in the preseason since they were the backups.

Good point, also the starters will get plenty of reps against other teams during joint scrimmages too and so the pre-season games will not be as critical for the starters.

The entire Giants roster reports for training camp today. They’ll do physicals and have their conditioning test, so we should learn about any players on the PUP/NFI lists later. Biggest player to watch is Evan Neal, who appeared to have a setback with his surgically repaired ankle in the spring.

Any idea of the time we expect to hear?
