A lot of good fun and laughs, but the story was trash and some of the fights get boring real quick.
Wolverine and Deadpool fight several times in the movie and in they give Wolverine has pretty much the same, nearly magical, fairly instantaneous healing power that Deadpool has. When you have two guys who have super duper healing fight each other there are no stakes and you lose interest in it pretty quickly.
I think you need to be a moderate to big fan of the MCU as well as the Fox X-men movies to properly enjoy this film. There are a lot of in-jokes and easter eggs for true, Marvel geeks.
Was progressive, linear entertainment……costumed, irreverent characters breaking the fourth wall….…..may have finally run out of compelling storylines…..for now. Fear not, the VFX possibilities are limitless, more so than inspired, relevant writing which is always the cornerstone of big box office success. It can, and will happen again.
Haven't laughed that hard in a movie theater in a while. Definitely a movie Marvel sorely needed, and I'm pleasantly surprised they weren't more constrained by Disney. I know Jackman needs to hang up the claws sooner or later, but I'm hoping he gets one final go in Secret Wars alongside other characters.
the build up was so much for this movie that I was honestly expecting to be dissapointed, but for the most part i wasnt. It was funny with enough plot/emotion to not just make it feel like deadpool making 4th wall jokes for 2 hours.
And for the most part they made all the cameos actually fit a bit in the story and not just "hey look its that person from that thing".
maybe dare I say a bit too much with the jokes, but nice to see Disney/Marvel shift gears into rated R mode. I agree that the fight scenes with Wolverine and Deadpool were a bit mundane, but the chemistry is clearly there.
Some of the cameos were cool, some were just meh, with some of the characters just looking way over the hill.
Since Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman announced it on Youtube. I was expecting the violence, sex jokes, and cursing to be toned down a bit due to Disney but they went in the opposite direction. I can't remember the last time I laughed that hard in a movie.
do you need to see all the other movies to see these
or can you just walk in and enjoy it. I ask because if there is a rainy day and I want to take my kids just curious as we are not too up to date on the Deadpool and Wolverine characters etc.

It's an R rated movie. Lots of violence, profanity and sexual references. Not very kid-friendly.

got it--one of my kids is 13 and can probably do ok as long as it is not overly graphic in the sex or violence. Buy my other kid is 9 and it would not be appropriate. I thought these were like superhero movies. Shows you how lost I am in this space.

We brought my 88-year-old mother-in-law and she laughed. I know she hasn't saw or kept up with the other movies.

Definitely not for kids. Although if you watched these movies, you'd understand some of the characters better...
Haven't been. Fun. The Guardians of fhe Galaxy series was good but the last one was meh. The slamming of Disney by this writing team was brilliant. Disney was finally smart for once. They will go back to sucking w the next Calt America movie I'm sure. Just like the Last Thor/Antman/and the Marvels might is sucked the life out of the genre. Never mind they shit show the Eternals.
Of you didn't laugh your ass off ok. But that's you. The movie is smashing it w fans.
There is a ton of blood, gore, amputations etc etc.
I saw a couple of parents bring their young kids sitting a few rows in front of me. The dad commented "I love Hugh Jackman as Wolverine!" and the mom said if this movie was appropriate for their kids to see?
They all walked out after that opening sequence at Logan's grave site! LOL

1) Deadpool
2) Deadpool 2
3) Logan
4) X-Men (original 2000 movie version)
Watch them in that order. Also if you add to watching movie trailers of the "other" FOX Marvel movies, that should get you caught up!
Each slice of blood Wolverine and Deadpool inflict, you get a water mist splashed on you. They also snyced the other effects pretty great.
Especially the snow scene at the beginning and the fight scene at the end felt like a roller coaster! LOL
