Greetings all. I have been rather busy of late and not been on as much but the Olympics are starting and I'm excited!
It's truly the pinnacle of humanity's physical and psychological capabilites.
I really started to get into them in 2016. I always enjoy the swimming, sprints, and beach volleyball but each time I watch more and more events I never thought I'd enjoy, but that turn out to be good fun - (to wit, boxing, diving, rowing, etc.).
Lastly, basketball is looking to be very entertaining and competitive this year. What are you looking forward to watching and or recommend as must see?
The US looked better in soccer than the outcome.
It feels like it gets less & less relevant with each passing 4 years. Perhaps because there's just so much other stuff/content to consume or whatever, but that's just my general observation.
Can't wait!
Go USA!
I watched the Swimming trials last month which were pretty awesome. I love the swimming but also love the some of the goofier sports too.
So she's not convinced the Seine is clean after the mayor of Paris swam in it?

Only two events are in the Seine: Triathlon and Marathon Swimming.
Paris installed a large sewage storage tunnel to prevent discharges during large rainstorms.
Can't wait!
My dvr (Verizon) is giving me heartache. It's either recording all events (which will fill my storage in about a day) or i have to individually record every event i want which is a mammoth task using the device. The streaming on peacock... does allo you to rewatch things that have finished?
Go USA!
How could i forget gymnastics! They are always incredible
Flames engulfed train tracks at ‘strategic points’ across the country this morning, just hours before the Olympic Opening Ceremony was due to kick off on the River Seine in Paris.
Around 800,000 travellers have been affected by the cancellations, including two German showjumpers set to take part in the opening ceremony who will now miss the event.
‘There was no longer a chance of making it on time,’ rider Philipp Weishaupt, who was travelling with teammate Christian Kukuk, told German news agency dpa.[quote]

No, she mocked the mayor. She's more into this than I am because she competitively swims. The videos she showed me are disgusting.
With you 110%
Wow.
my wife is an olympic nut, so we'll be watching a lot of it in the next two weeks.
Not LeBron James? ;)
Yeah, that was... erm, something.
I enjoyed the tench national anthem aria and the metal sections though

of Summer and Winter games for probably over 40 years. Lately I really have no interest. I'll watch some, but how much depends on how bored I am with other things. Simone Biles is the only name I know going into the Games
Not LeBron James? ;)
They have basketball in the Olympics?
‘Gold Zone’ whip-around show makes Peacock debut for 2024 Paris Olympics - ( New Window )
Yeah, best thing from yesterday by far

Maybe they could've/should've made that installation a long time ago and not needed the Olympics to prompt it? *grin*
I knew our Olympic trials had been going on recently but had no idea the Games were starting.
Celine was incredible to wrap it. That was one of the best performances i've watched in a long time.
They didn't turn out so great for Dan or Reebok. *grin*
Ended 4-1. The U-23s looked sharp today. Nothing is guaranteed, though. Guinea looked decent against France, and now that France has clinched advancing they may rest some of their top players against New Zealand.

Land-locked Switzerland won back to back America's Cups. I guess they practiced on a lake or river? :-)

potential host cities can't accommodate and the first year, the surfing competition is 8000 miles away in French Polynesia. Ridiculous.

The geography of France is also a bit strange. They are one of the few countries where they incorporate their overseas territories as part of the country-proper. So someone living in French Guiana, in South America, is not only a French citizen, but also an EU citizen. It also means of all countries that border France, the longest land border is actually shared with Brazil.
The point of all this is that Tahiti is actually more French than say Guam is to the US.
He was fantastic today. Could not miss.

Obviously I am rooting for the USA to win. But as a Knicks fan, there are a bunch of players on this team I don't like, lol.
Switching sports - watching the highlights of Simone Biles - whoa. GOAT for sure.

Annie Drews is so easy on the eyes too.
