I love watching football and will be rooting for a bounce back game. If you can’t tell, I stayed off of BBI this past week and didn’t read any threads. Good for my health!
I liked the idea of switching to a RBBC. Singletary is coming off a very good season and Tracy was an intriguing draft pick. They were completely flat last week though. It would take some weight off DJ.
My two cents… if Jones struggles again this week, I wouldn’t be shocked if they sit him. I know it’s early but remember this franchise sat Eli Manning after an 0-2 start in 2019 to give Jones his start and Eli had accomplished far more in his career.
Interested to see if he is active and plays.Carm Bracillo likes to design blocking schemes that use a fullback. JS said I am not paying a quarterback 40 million to hand off but there is a saying that a QB's best friend is a running game.
What’s amazing to me is Jones has only 2TD passes in last 8 games
Holy Cow…what an accomplishment for our $40 million per year QB.
My birthday day is Wednesday. I will be 75.
Maybe the Giants present me with an early birthday present. Ya never know!!!
I can't remember being less interested in a September Giants game in awhile. At least the bar will have Head High on tap & other games on too so I got that going for me.
all on Jones. If he plays like he did last week, Washington will romp. I hope Daboll has the balls to bench Jones if he plays like crap during the first half.

@DDuggan21
Daboll just greeted Bobby Johnson with a hug on the sideline. They were close, with Johnson following Daboll from Buffalo to be the Giants' O-line coach for the previous two years. It pained Daboll to fire his close friend, but he had no choice after the O-line's performance last season. Johnson landed on his feet on Dan Quinn's staff in Washington.

Giants-Commanders pregame thoughts:
• Could this be it for Daniel Jones? I would be surprised if he's pulled during this game (the second half comeback against Arizona in Week 2 last season wasn't that long ago). But if he looks like he did in the opener, I don't think they can continue to stick with him after today.
Of course, this is the one opponent he's consistently had success against. Lot of coaching/personnel changes from those performances, but still, he has to have a level of confidence coming into this stadium.
I think the most likely outcome is that Jones plays OK — not great, not terrible — and is able to hold onto his job at least another week.
• I expect to see the young RBs mixed in more today. Think there was some hesitancy to put too much on them in Week 1.
• I expect the Giants to get Malik Nabers more involved early today. He didn't have a target until the Giants' third possession in the opener.
I'm curious how his knee impacts his workload. The messaging has been "nothing to see here" but he didn't look great in the limited portion of practice we could see on Friday. Wouldn't be surprised if he's in and out of the lineup a bit after playing 100 percent of the snaps last week.
• Interested to see how much Jalin Hyatt plays today. He played three snaps in the first half last week and only had one target. Seems like a guy who can be sprinkled in a bit more, especially against a shaky secondary.
I don't expect as much heavy personnel as the opener, so that should provide more opportunities to get Hyatt on the field.
• Awkward backdrop with the Giants facing rookie QB Jayden Daniels, who we saw Daboll say he'd trade up for during Hard Knocks.
Daniels has plenty of potential, but he's mostly a threat as a runner at this point. Still, the Giants' pass rush needs to dominate this game. The Commanders have poor tackles and as DC Shane Bowen said this week, their best players need to play their best.
Daniels struggled against the blitz last week. We'll see if Bowen breaks tendency and sends extra rushers more today.
• Bowen said Isaiah Simmons will play after getting no defensive snaps last week. Not sure I see a big role for him, but his speed could be useful on third downs to pseudo-spy Daniels.
• Deonte Banks mostly traveled with Justin Jefferson last week, although it wasn't as if he was left 1-on-1 much. Curious if he does the same with Terry McLaurin today. Makes sense with McLaurin not moving around much in Kliff Kingsbury's offense and Cor'Dale Flott expected to be at the other corner spot.
• Will be watching Graham Gano's warmups closely. Alarming to have him pop up on injury report yesterday with a groin injury. This offense is going to need Gano operating at peak level.
My two cents… if Jones struggles again this week, I wouldn’t be shocked if they sit him. I know it’s early but remember this franchise sat Eli Manning after an 0-2 start in 2019 to give Jones his start and Eli had accomplished far more in his career.
You think Eli accomplished far more…..now that’s a well thought out statement.

How short is #Giants leash on Daniel Jones?
If they win today, I think it resets.
If he plays as badly as he did last week, I wouldn't be surprised if this is the end.
If they lose but he plays better, you have to look at the schedule. What I mean:
Joe Schoen said on "Hard Knocks" that Giants couldn't afford an 0-3 start (in the context of signing a backup in case Joes was still injured to start the season) so maybe Schoen looks at the first three games as a true mile-marker. Makes me they would stick with Jones and try to salvage a 1-2 start by beating #Browns in Cleveland.
If they are 0-3, it becomes hard to get Drew Lock ready in one true practice to face Cowboys on Thursday Night Football in Week 4.
The flip side of that, however, is it could be untenable for all involved for an 0-3 Giants team to start Jones at home vs. #Cowboys in primetime. The first-quarter boos last week suggest that fans just don't want to see Jones' face anymore regardless of results. Just anyone else. They want change for change's sake.
I think the most likely scenario would be Jones starts Week 3, Jones starts on a very short leash Week 4 and Drew Lock starts Week 5 in his homecoming vs. #Seahawks.
But a win could change that. Another true stinker could change that.
If a sportswriter says Nabers’ looked obviously limited in practice before week 2, my belief is the player needs to be held out. This isn’t a playoff game. And 17 games makes for a long season. Soccer players are regularly held out simply to avoid fatigue. NFL coaches have to move to this mindset. The NFL doesn’t play 11 game seasons anymore.

what an absolute failure by the organization to be in this position week 2. shameful.
as bad as things were in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2021 when coaches/gms got fired, i dont think things have ever been worse in week 2. a new milestone on the "there is no bottom" era of giants football.

Malik Nabers doesn't have anything on his right leg (he was wearing a sleeve on Friday) and is moving much better in warmups than he did on Friday.
the Giants lose 21-17 or the like where the defense has played decently, we get some pressure, and our offensive weapons flash their talent and we lose because of Daniel Jones's mistakes.
The worst thing now would be to win a 20-17 type game. The people running this team are dumb enough to think that could signal a turnaround.
im hoping for a win bc you never know what happens if momentum turns and i dont believe the future is iron clad, but if they dont win im hoping for whatever facilitates swift change. to be in this position already is close to fireable and the 2 best candidates to lead this forward are basically available already.
to say a team's week one performance is indicative of future performance, but Washington's D was a disaster last week, especially in the backend.
Granted, Tampa has Evans and Godwin, two excellent receivers, but Mayfield was throwing lasers all over the field and had plenty of time. He notched an 83+ QBR.
If Jones and the offense are going to get right - for them - this is the ideal game on paper.
And given the 2025 injury guarantee, the effective IQ of the Giants leadership is… very low. There’s no way he should ever play another snap for the Giants, as far as I’m concerned. I don’t see an intellectually rigorous argument against it.

it's not as hard when their #1 corner is st juste, their #2 corner who was trending bust just got surgery, and his replacement is a declared bust who has now been on 3 teams in 3 years and graded lower than #1/#2.
if they cant get the offense going this week leave everyone in washington.
Getting the vapors over 1 week of football is embarrassing.
We all know the Giants have a major talent deficiency at quarterback, and that this year will be an exercise in development and survival despite Jones.
The Giants are breaking in a new defense, and trying to survive on offense with arguably the worst starter in league.

This is such a dumb take. So, a 20-17 win would do it. Signaling a turnaround is all they need. Not even a thought about the remaining 15 games. They wouldn’t even look at any of that. 20-17 and it’s Jones for the next three years.

larry, I don’t disagree with a single thing you said. I do need a break from the Giants. I just can’t help myself because I have spent my entire life living and dying with them and I am my wits end. Wellington Mara used to call a successful season one that had meaningful December games. At this rate, I’ll take meaningful games in late September.

Everyday I become more convinced our smart people (especially Daboll) are dumb and dumber. Send them both back to Buffalo.
on what should happen and too many people think losing will cure stuff. Guess what- we have been losing for the most part since the end of the 2011 season. This team needs to start winning games. I DOUBT the Giants (Daboll and Schoen) think Jones is their long term guy. Too many here think it is SB or fucking 0-17.. It isn't that way in the NFL.
The Giants need to start winning and stop playing scared. if Jones sucks early he should get yanked and that is the end of the story. But, if he is playing well (well enough) and they are winning you build on that.
Nothing about today will change 2025's plan.. I have said it all summer and stand by it now, I want the Giants to win, I want Jones to play better and I still want a different QB in 2025!!

I'm getting really tired of them getting burned by completely foreseeable scenarios that literally anyone else could have predicted. It's next level incompetence and it's across the entire organization.
Last week I was among a small number of villains recognizing the macro benefits for the team losing if they weren't making strides towards being a championship contender.

The only exception to me would be a 42-3 victory where Jones is executing at a level he never has. If that doesn't occur, I hope he plays like his usual shitty self and the loss would inevitably follow.

today. Want to see a team that looks better prepared with a lot more fight in them to start. More emphasis on the run game on O and then on D Bowens has to have a plan as Daniels will look to run.
Laughing stock for a number of reasons. How many times will we see game where Giants don't have a PR or kicker or (fill in the blank). In a game today that could well be decided by FGs, to not have an actual, experienced kicker defies explanation (and I don't count Gillan).

Hard to get a read on round 2 of Gano's warmups. He usually does game-like kicks with Kreiter snapping to Gillan in both directions. But he only went in one direction today. Looked like he was wide right from 51 and 50 to finish. That's shorter than his typical long attempts.
Then he didn't even warmup in the other direction, but that's probably just because the rest of the players were coming out to stretch and his detour the locker room limited his time to warm up. Didn't seem like a great process, however it turns out.

That would probably be a good thread - which organizations appear to be dumber than the Giants org?
I guess it was hasty and wrong for me to say I hope WFT wins. Once kickoff, I’ll inevitably pull for the Giants because it is in my blood.
But I am not going to be crying if we lose.
Yeah, a lot of us are conflicted, and with good reason. It's the constant tug of war between the heart and the mind. I haven't made up up my mind yet, but there's a good chance this game will decide my rooting interests on the season. Give us something to root for, or we root for change, is how I see it.

Didn't listen just saw the banner at bottom: "Ease him into action". What does that mean?
Isn't that what preseason is for? You're supposed to use ALL OF CAMP to be ready for Game 1. Teams prep for opening day all camp.
I keep saying it, Daboll is a problem.
It means they are going to try to establish the run and use easy-to-complete patterns rather than calling three 7-step drop, slow-developing plays on the first series and give the Wash D-line the opportunity to crush him.
It used to be the way most teams started games. Whether it will work is the question.

commanders secondary appears to blow but so did minnesota's - who also lost one of their starters to IR this past preseason. bobby wagner was still playing well last year. we've seen payne and allen beat us before. luvu is a good player. quinn brought a bunch of players over from dallas like armstrong who've beat us before.

the dumbest coach in the league. Kick it into the end zone, you kicker does not get injured.....deferring these coin toss wins only send the signal you are afraid to have jones on the field.
the dumbest coach in the league. Kick it into the end zone, you kicker does not get injured.....deferring these coin toss wins only send the signal you are afraid to have jones on the field.
deferring is the much much much better choice and an IQ test for a coach.
the only points available to the jones/daboll offense this season, and hopefully daboll's last season are the field goals, which puts it all down to the hammer, and who holds for him? yikes.
That was bad, it’s like they didn’t know where the 1st down marker was and they ignored that the Commanders already threw a bunch of screens that drive.
that if they did not make it......its only fourth and an inch? think they can make an inch? they don't need any threes because the giants lost their kicker on the first play. Gano went into the off season with a major injury, why didn't JS have a replacement either traded for or drafted?
Daboll has me scratching my head on how unprepared they are week after week. Kickoff returned for TD, lucky there was a holding penalty. Holding penalty on 3rd down stop, missed tackles, missed sack by McFadden, wasted challenge. Washington takes over half the quarter with their opening drive.
Jordan Raanan
@JordanRaanan
Dru Phillips the lone bright spot on the opening drive. Sack and tackle for loss. Still, Commanders had 16-play, 64-yard drive. Took 9:36 off the clock.
This is why you need to play your starters in preseason, missed tackles, over pursuit. There is a reason this DC didn't have other offers and was our 4th choice.
designed runs with a QB who has had two serious neck injuries, a concussion, and is less than a year removed from a torn ACL. Or is that because despite having Nabers, Daboll has no confidence in Jones throwing the ball? Then why is he playing.

You might want to take a look at who more regularly starts in engagements with whom.
Official makes Nabers come out but no helmet to helmet?
2. Are the coaches trying to get Daniel injured?
Also holy hell on the extra point. Jesus H.
Maybe Daboll knows he can’t bench Jones yet, so might as well not be careful with him and let nature take its course?
I don’t want to believe that’s true, but a Jones injury probably makes Daboll’s life much easier (and builds in an excuse to lose games going forward).

or that would have been six. Good throw and decision by Jones.
The 3rd down play he needed to throw it to Wan'dale quicker.
He's not atrocious today, just bad.
The defense against the run other the other hand. Woof!
has simplified the offense for Jones. Most of his throws are one read, whether it is simple crossing routes or rail throws up the sidelines. The rest is just Singletary into the line or designed runs by Jones. Daboll doesn't trust Jones to make complex reads. The question is whether the Commanders can adjust and shut down what we're doing.
RE: I try to remember that GOOD downfield accuracy is still only 50%
Nabers lost a half a step in the tangling with the D player imv. One positive I see is the RB run game is better and if that continues they will have more shots deep.
None of us want Jones as our QB, but when you make statements like this, you show the rest of us that you dont know WTF you are talking about.
That throw was on target. Nabers got slowed down after the ball was released by the hand checking between him and the CB. If you could not see that, then you have a YOU problem.

He’s a FIFTH overall freaking pick!!!!
One tackle in a half and the best we can say is he’s active!
He had zip last week as well.
He’s got to play better.
You know he’s responsible for one of the sacks and has 3 pressures already.

Sorry, i am not a jones lover and defender like you. Until Jones proves he belongs in this league i have a hard time respecting him, and want him gone.
probably think giving up 9 pts and letting commanders have the ball all half is good defense.
Interestingly, we probably would have signed up for allowing nine points at halftime.
It's just that now we're so gassed that we're going to have to start going for it on 4th down in the second half just to keep our defense off the field.
I know the game is played between the 20’s and it’s more about red zone and hopefully turnovers but this in not Giants Defensive football.
I’m getting Rod Rust read and react flashbacks and hope it’s only an early season , working out the new scheme type of thing but I’m not holding my breath.
That said, I really like the rookies Phillips and Nubin. I think Schoen hit on two really good players and I want yo see Phillips on the field more.

So you accept this level of play from him. Cool.
We disagree I guess.
yep no criticisms of his play today. he had the ball in his hands for just 8 minutes and he led 2 td drives. 2/3 on 3rd downs and some good runs. daboll at least got the offense on track.
Malik Nabers will keep Jones afloat. He's that dangerous.
Jones just needs to feed him the ball and get the ball in the neighborhood.
I'm not so sure. They've got 12 first half points against an awful defense. But, unfortunately you've been right most of the time.
That's what I mean. By no means do I believe the Giants will have a good offense. But they can win games against teams like Washington by keeping it close and a few big Nabers plays per possession.

The Giants' offense actually looked good. The problem is it only got three possessions because the defense allowed a 16-play drive and a 14-play drive that ate up over 15 minutes.
I'm impressed with both rookie first down picks - Daniels and Nabers

Daniel Jones is a different QB in Washington. That was an excellent 2-minute drill. Malik Nabers heavy lifting, but also a tough run by DJ

Jones just needs to feed him the ball and get the ball in the neighborhood.
If that means Jones is successful, so be it.
There is no problem with Jones being successful because of Malik Nabers. The danger is Schoen and Daboll again not understanding what they are seeing and why.
Nothing has changed with Daniel Jones. I am glad he is playing well since they are playing him, but getting him out of this lineup is an imperative for this season.

I think, instead of filling this tread with your filthy mouth, you ought to realize, your buddy Jones is not taking us to the superbowl, and be more mad against how deep we are in QB hell.
Give DJ a decent line, a gifted receiver and good things happen.
an impressive half IMO. Our expectations are just so low that it seems that way.
The defense has been gashed on the ground. We again have no credible run defense when Lawrence is out. That's on Schoen. BB and KT have done nothing against two mediocre tackles. We can't get off the field on third and long. We're also missing a lot of tackles.
Daboll has really limited the offense because Jones can't make multiple reads consistently. Jones is either throwing to his first read after looking left or right or going deep to Nabers. The rest of the offense is just Singletary into the LOS or designed runs by Jones.
Not activating the PS kicker when Gano already had a bad groin was inexcusable by Daboll.

is executing well what he's being asked to do in the passing game. The problem is that he isn't being asked to do much. Daboll has training wheels on him.

we get it
Poor Gano holding for Gillian on kicks at halftime

The problem is the defense. Offense only had ball three times and has two TDs.
But they do look a lot better than last week. Defense needs to figure out how to get off the field.
All that matters is winning the game, not "moral" victories. And right now, the defense is bad.
Washington has dominated the LOS when they have the ball. I expect them to take some deep shots in the second half as a result, especially if we creep another defender towards the LOS to help the with the run. Jackson in fact was burned for an obvious TD, but Daniels was sacked before he could throw it.
is executing well what he's being asked to do in the passing game. The problem is that he isn't being asked to do much. Daboll has training wheels on him.
At this point, what more do you want Daboll and Jones to do? They scored two Tds on 3 possessions? I guess in your head it should have been three TDs. Enough with the BS.
As we feel this defense has been today we have only giving up 12 points. We have not giving up a TD. The 3rd down defense has been pretty bad though. We have given up multiple 3rd and longs
much of this is on Bowen? At some point, players have to make plays. Is it Bowen's fault that BB and KT aren't getting much pressure against mediocre tackles, or that everyone runs at will against us when Lawrence is out? Seems to me that's more on Schoen for not getting better players.
Bummed? You do realize that Jones really has not done anything wrong today. This is on the defense right now. They cannot get off of the field and as a result our offensive opportunities are limited.
RE: Its a warm day and the defense has been on the field
Not a very good day so far.No excuse for missing so many..Their QB is a nifty runner..They learned that on WFT 1st drive,1st Qtr.Need improvement on this..What's going to happen when we really play a VG team?? Don't tell me I already know !!
have to score on every drive unless we get a TO. But they're running so well I don't anticipate them having to throw a lot, which would be our best chance for a TO.
not another three and out, Please do not run the ball for no gain, Please throw accurately to open receivers. Your defense will appreciate that, and another 7.

that is perspective...
get a stop on 3rd and long
force a turnover
stop missing tackles
mind your gaps
pressure the qb
if asshole could give Nabers a chance on those deep balls. Maybe he makes a great catch. Maybe pass interference. No chance when you overthrow him by 10 yards.
I agree. And I think it's because he always throws to the side with a safety helping over the top because he just isn't very good at finding the one-on-one
Was smart, after all! Granted, it’s all gone to shit since…
No it wasn’t smart, just like the first one wasn’t. It was upheld, but in both cases was a formality for the Commanders to pick up a first down.
Just because they picked up the first down doesn't mean it wasn't smart. THey still need to execute to get it.
Yeah it does. They were easy pickups. Why throw away the challenges (2 now) when winning and losing the challenge doesn’t matter?
Washington has shot themselves in the foot numerous times in short yardage. Can’t just assume they’ll make it.
They also run for 200 yards and are routinely pushing our DLine back 2-3 yards. But sure, a chance to make them have to pick up 2 feet is a wise use of challenges.
The fact tat both conversions were so easy tells you all you need to know about how wise the challenges were. Sometimes you have to make decisions in the context of what is happening on the field.
RE: RE: This is probably the best Giants offensive line
Did he actually get the shot or just the blue band aid? I see over a thousand legislators in NZ were exempt from the shot while forcing the rest of the populace to get the vax.
I used to be able to watch Giants streaming on my phone through Xfinity and now they're saying I have to be connected to my homes wifi, it was never like that before.
at some point they have to be able to scheme a shot to someone else. slayton or hyatt or wandale on a wheel or something.
Sorry, but feed him feed him and feed him some more.
you were saying?
I still say feed him feed him and feed him some more.
So are you saying Jones should stop targeting him?
no. im saying what i said that you replied to in apparent disagreement - they should be able to find someone in a 1 on 1 since he's demanding so much attention.
exactly as they just did for that go-ahead TD to wandale winning a 1 on 1 clean.
of how much more effective our run game would likely be if the Giants had converted Neal to guard this past offseason instead of keeping him at tackle. We'd likely have a mauler at RG and would not have had to sign Van Roten.
is just not a winning player…he’ll get his yards here and there but he’s a nightmare
I said this last week about Hyatt and the same applies to Slayton but to a lesser degree.
The game is more than just running and catching. The true pros understand situations and when they need to alter their routes.
Our last possession ended in a punt. It was the one where Jones did not see Nabers and threw to Robinson in traffic.
On the next play, he through to Slayton but the play was broken up. The throw was fine but it was Slayton who fucked it up. After slayton cut to the middle, he had the CB on his hip. Rather than coming back to the ball to shield the defender from the ball, he kept drifting downfield. That allowed the DB to get position in front to knock the ball down.
I thought they already could, or is it only PI that can be challenged? Either way it’s gotta happen soon. Between CTE, the refs, and overall quality of play - both with the Giants specifically, and league-wide, especially at the QB position
- I’m losing interest in football lately. I can’t imagine I’m alone.

When you lose on a call, then you did not do enough to win the game.
I heard no complaints here every time the officials threw the flag on the skins inside of our 10.
That is such a stupid, bullshit take. Officials can absolutely decide a game. A gassed finally get a stop and it continues due to a phantom hold. You equate that with an obvious false start?

Isn’t that the MO of the new D coordinator, bend but don’t break until you do?
His run D in Tenn was top notch! Not this shit...Dex can't do it himself inside.
that’s because everybody threw on Tennessee. Last season, you could take your pick: if they stop the run, they couldn’t stop the pass. If they stopped the pass, they couldn’t stop the run.
42 Washington vs 18 Giants. The commanders are keeping it close with stupid penalties. The score does not rewflect how badly the giants are getting smacked

Yeah I hear ya, I’m aware over a decade of watching losing football has more than a lot to do with it. It just seems like play across the league seems down. Or maybe I’m just officially an old fart and I’m doing the “music in my day…”/“the SNL cast when I was younger…” thing.
we lose, it's not on Nabers. It's on Schoen for not getting better run defenders and on Daboll for not activating the PS kicker knowing that Gano was already hurt.

This i snot on Nabers!smh..
But if Jones had missed him out of bounds everyone would be blaming Jones.
This L is all on the D. Washington's offense is nothing special. And they marched up and down the field all day long, including this drive. Combination of shitty tackling and awful scheming on 3rd and long.
Who cares? If you guys aren't betting against the Giants, that's your own stupidity. Easy money. Why get mad because these losers don't know what they're doing. From ownership to management, to the coaches.
yeah lets blame the best player on the field because of the 1 play he didnt make - even though his plays on that same drive should have put them ahead with a field goal. genius.

Hard to see Jones turn it around but if there’s a game to do it this is it, as Washington looked like the worst defense in the league last week.
My birthday day is Wednesday. I will be 75.
Maybe the Giants present me with an early birthday present. Ya never know!!!
Throwing for 283 3-0.

They must really like Jones' performance against Dan Quinn defenses.
@DDuggan21
@DDuggan21
You think Eli accomplished far more…..now that’s a well thought out statement.
Can you be more specific with the info?
@rydunleavy

My guess - he'll be benched mid game versus Cleveland or Dallas.
Hopefully the defense steps up was I feel they can be a bright spot this year
And some imagination on offense.
Probably happens, it's WSH.
@DDuggan21
Malik Nabers doesn't have anything on his right leg (he was wearing a sleeve on Friday) and is moving much better in warmups than he did on Friday.

WR Malik Nabers looks to be moving well in early warmups. He was limited on Thursday after feeling discomfort in his knee.

im hoping for a win bc you never know what happens if momentum turns and i dont believe the future is iron clad, but if they dont win im hoping for whatever facilitates swift change. to be in this position already is close to fireable and the 2 best candidates to lead this forward are basically available already.
Granted, Tampa has Evans and Godwin, two excellent receivers, but Mayfield was throwing lasers all over the field and had plenty of time. He notched an 83+ QBR.
If Jones and the offense are going to get right - for them - this is the ideal game on paper.

it's not as hard when their #1 corner is st juste, their #2 corner who was trending bust just got surgery, and his replacement is a declared bust who has now been on 3 teams in 3 years and graded lower than #1/#2.

We all know the Giants have a major talent deficiency at quarterback, and that this year will be an exercise in development and survival despite Jones.
The Giants are breaking in a new defense, and trying to survive on offense with arguably the worst starter in league.

They're playing Gano with a groin tweak? Have they learned nothing?
This is such a dumb take. So, a 20-17 win would do it. Signaling a turnaround is all they need. Not even a thought about the remaining 15 games. They wouldn’t even look at any of that. 20-17 and it’s Jones for the next three years.

Totally agree. They were looking QB last year and will be this year.
What a bizarre mindset
Basically they’re easing him back in..last week they focused on interceptions and not getting into the endzone..hopefully today they focus on at least one TD..then add one per week til October…

I prefer to see improvement
You’re rooting for the team to regress
To each his own… I guess
You both should go root for another team, I know you believe you are make some ultimate sacrifice for the long-term health of the organization but you really aren't.

Time to move on and take a break for the Giants for yourself and the rest of us, come back in November to talk Knicks basketball.

Graham Gano has started his warmups with Daboll watching in the distance
@DDuggan21
Gano didn't look comfortable at all during warmups. Wincing after most kicks. He then cut his warmup short and jogged off the field. Punter Jamie Gillan is now taking warmup field goals. Who could have seen a kicker with a groin injury being a problem?
I want Jones gone because he’s a shitty QB & I want Joe/Dabs gone for saddling us with him.
I’m not talking about Daniel Jones
I’m talking about the team

This is definitely comically...well on a positive we will be going for a lot of 4th downs and 2 pt conversions

Graham Gano is back out on the field and continuing his warmups. So, crisis averted - or just on hold? Stay tuned.
The problem is John Mara. God knows who his next hire will be.

Everyday I become more convinced our smart people (especially Daboll) are dumb and dumber. Send them both back to Buffalo.

I benched Gano, by the way.
That seems to be more acceptable this week.
That seems to be more acceptable this week.
People say "Go root for other teams"
Don't we all of we have coins on other teams?
The only exception to me would be a 42-3 victory where Jones is executing at a level he never has. If that doesn't occur, I hope he plays like his usual shitty self and the loss would inevitably follow.

time and time again they dont know what they are doing with injuries/elevations/backup plans.

I want the Giants to lose enough that they get rid of Jones, and win enough that they keep Daboll.

We have to come to a realization that Daboll may be as big of a problem as Jones. A Bad QB like Jones can set back a franchise - but so can a coach.
He’s in the running as the worst coach in the league.
I think this is the company line, but I can't fathom they actually believe it.

@rydunleavy
#Giants Graham Gano's status (groin) is a big thing today in what should be a low-scoring close game.
He ended up finishing up his warm-up through the discomfort.
But he did not kick well through an injury last season.
You'd like to think they learn from past mistakes.

Yeah, a lot of us are conflicted, and with good reason. It's the constant tug of war between the heart and the mind. I haven't made up up my mind yet, but there's a good chance this game will decide my rooting interests on the season. Give us something to root for, or we root for change, is how I see it.

That was bad, it’s like they didn’t know where the 1st down marker was and they ignored that the Commanders already threw a bunch of screens that drive.

really a poorly coached team...both DE's just get washed up the field....getting beat on screens when that is all the Commanders run
what did they do leading up to this week?

Dru Phillips the lone bright spot on the opening drive. Sack and tackle for loss. Still, Commanders had 16-play, 64-yard drive. Took 9:36 off the clock.
Giants still haven't had the ball.
Washington 3, Giants 0

I have fumbled snap, Jones gets whacked.

Burns stopped Daniels after a yard and that was it.

He’s a FIFTH overall freaking pick!!!!
One tackle in a half and the best we can say is he’s active!
He had zip last week as well.

Sorry, i am not a jones lover and defender like you. Until Jones proves he belongs in this league i have a hard time respecting him, and want him gone.
Interestingly, we probably would have signed up for allowing nine points at halftime.
It's just that now we're so gassed that we're going to have to start going for it on 4th down in the second half just to keep our defense off the field.
Yup.
The deciding factor in this game will be if Daniel Jones is a better than a rookie in his second game of his pro career.

Nabers - ( New Window )
The running isn’t the issue. Its that Jones doesn’t ever protect himself. Maybe thats a skill too or just part of athleticism
I think that was a busted play with the bobble. Could be wrong.
I think Jones fudging the snap may have lead to that last scramble.
Jones just needs to feed him the ball and get the ball in the neighborhood.

I'm not so sure. They've got 12 first half points against an awful defense. But, unfortunately you've been right most of the time.

yep no criticisms of his play today. he had the ball in his hands for just 8 minutes and he led 2 td drives. 2/3 on 3rd downs and some good runs. daboll at least got the offense on track.

Daniel Jones is a different QB in Washington. That was an excellent 2-minute drill. Malik Nabers heavy lifting, but also a tough run by DJ

This is a LB and DL issue.
I am willing to bet anything that Daboll was told the kicker is good to go.

Well, would have been 14 if they had a kicker. The Bucs got 16 against them last week on 4 possessions.

Do people need to be reminded of the Texas rubbing?
All that matters is winning the game, not "moral" victories. And right now, the defense is bad.
Washington has dominated the LOS when they have the ball. I expect them to take some deep shots in the second half as a result, especially if we creep another defender towards the LOS to help the with the run. Jackson in fact was burned for an obvious TD, but Daniels was sacked before he could throw it.
yeah that throw to slayton was a really good one and i think second/third read. trusted the pass pro. much better today.
Yes I know he just fumbled
At this point, what more do you want Daboll and Jones to do? They scored two Tds on 3 possessions? I guess in your head it should have been three TDs. Enough with the BS.

Washington has shot themselves in the foot numerous times in short yardage. Can’t just assume they’ll make it.
that is perspective...
get a stop on 3rd and long
force a turnover
stop missing tackles
mind your gaps
pressure the qb
holding the 49ers to 7 is actually a mild comfort. darnold only 12/20 though and most of his yardage on one 97 pass to jefferson.

They also run for 200 yards and are routinely pushing our DLine back 2-3 yards. But sure, a chance to make them have to pick up 2 feet is a wise use of challenges.
The fact tat both conversions were so easy tells you all you need to know about how wise the challenges were. Sometimes you have to make decisions in the context of what is happening on the field.

exactly as they just did for that go-ahead TD to wandale winning a 1 on 1 clean.
Roster mismanagement
To be fair that was a ridiculous call.
if anything it was fairly obvious offensive PI
These things go unnoticed in real time.
To be fair that was a ridiculous call.
Beyond ridiculous.
That was a dreadful call.

no. im saying what i said that you replied to in apparent disagreement - they should be able to find someone in a 1 on 1 since he's demanding so much attention.
exactly as they just did for that go-ahead TD to wandale winning a 1 on 1 clean.
I agree. If he's tripled covered otherwise feed him feed him and feed him some more. HAhaha

Completely flipped the game. Fucking joke.

What's that now six penalties by Washington in the red zone, five of which have been false starts?

Is gonna happen soon.
I wonder if any Kansas City Chiefs fans are losing interest too?
That's exactly what happened. If anything, it should have been offensive PI for that reason.
Yeah it would be ridiculous but don't lose faith, there's still time to lose in a more traditional fashion!

Your take that we could lose the game because of a call is bullshit. Really? One call? No chance to make up for it before or after the call?
Losers talk that way.
Pssssssst. It’s the QB

Isn’t that the MO of the new D coordinator, bend but don’t break until you do?
His run D in Tenn was top notch! Not this shit...Dex can't do it himself inside.
Smart of him to wave when he was open!
They are just waiting for him to fuck up so they can pat each other on the back
+1

Yeah I hear ya, I’m aware over a decade of watching losing football has more than a lot to do with it. It just seems like play across the league seems down. Or maybe I’m just officially an old fart and I’m doing the “music in my day…”/“the SNL cast when I was younger…” thing.
Gosh
and now instead people are going to shit on nabers for a drop or jones for not making it a harder drop.
Yep he fits right in.
yes, Jones made him go down to catch it. Plus I saw a slight wobble on the ball.
We are not in this game without Nabers
What a stud
Fuck off. Nabers is our only offense. It’s on Daboll and his shitty management of the kickers
LOL, someone will probably believe it
Yeah, throwing to an open receiver. Jones screwed up.
Now is the time.
nabers
slayton
just inexcusable unforced errors with teh K, drops, fumbles.
Thankful every day for the mute button add on
Damn, I'd guess he'll make the next 100 of those.
Crap.

What kickers?! We have a backup one?
Seriously. Walk into traffic
Anytime shitting on Nabers is an idiot. He was our offense today.
Who cares?

You honestly don’t think a ref call can affect the outcome of a game? Whatever. Ok, winner.

Frustrating.

Wait, where do I get this
Seems to be now
It is really on the defense.
easy peasy, just expect worst case scenario.
We like to give free 5 yard gains?
Should be 24 to 18 right now
100%
This i snot on Nabers!smh..

hard to imagine a game more entirely on coach/management failure.
It is really on the defense.
id go not having a kicker > defense but it's neck and neck.
And now he's injured
Well Wash has done their best to give us a chance to win the game.
You dont know the answer?

not forcing one punt all game...I mean bowen shouldn't make it to the locker room.
Unbelievable
I kid. Kinda.
+1 so far this season
100 agree! Burns is a waste of money and Thibs? Lol.
So you think this is all intentional so we lose and get a high draft pick? You truly believe that?

If you use Chrome, search the Chrome Web Store for 'BBI Mute'. It's a free extension.
schoen
daboll
they dont deserve tehir jobs.
So what. They are going to lose and on their way to 0-2. Defense was garbage all day.
Quote:
we lose, it's not on Nabers. It's on Schoen for not getting better run defenders and on Daboll for not activating the PS kicker knowing that Gano was already hurt.
100%
This i snot on Nabers!smh..
But if Jones had missed him out of bounds everyone would be blaming Jones.
We do that and we probably win.
Because we’re run by idiots?
The rest is noise.
Nothing new there.
Right, he should have predicted our kicker getting hurt 😂
Yup. Worst case, we go to OT.
Yup.

The kicker who hurt his leg this week? That one?
But not having a kicker considering Gano’s status before the game…
Lunacy. Dabs is going to get fired..
schoen is trying to force his draft picks he sucks.
The rest is noise.
yeah lets blame the best player on the field because of the 1 play he didnt make - even though his plays on that same drive should have put them ahead with a field goal. genius.
Dabs is going to get fired..
When?
Yup

You know Gano was hurt all week, right?
Tell me you know that, and were still shocked he got hurt?
.
We might go 0-17.
What a boring brand of football. Boring and we suck.

Gano was on the injury list, so yeah, he should have covered our asses with the PS kicker.

In a see of stupidity, this has to be the dumbest post of the day.
Do you even follow the Giants?
Yup. No run defenders except Lawrence.
The worst case scenario really for him. Offense didn't look terrible but yet lose due to bad roster management.
The stupid is on the field and the sidelines.
Odds of missing are soooo much lower than giants scoring

Groin injury, but the hamstring was new.

Bingo.

Or force a turnover.
we led league in takeaways last year. When game on line, bend but don't break sucks.
That's a statistic with high variability.
Groin injury, but the hamstring was new.
True, but the beats were all tweeting that he looked gimpy in warmups.
I hear you loud and clear.
of course but he is a rookie. if they have a kicker they are winning this game right now.
and if they had any kind of defense they'd be up double digits.

His groin was hurt, not his hamstring. Obviously he was a go because he started the game. Completely different injury

Yeah, running with a bad groin probably had nothing to do with the hamstring injury.
More proof a lot of Giants fans are absolute idiots.
