with 2 Super Bowl wins in 4 years, they let their guard down while they partying on both coasts and allowed John Mara to install his brother as senior vice president of player personnel title on par with the GM he always wanted and he installed his nephew, who is now the director of player personnel, into the player personnel department at the same time.
According to Ernie Accorsi’s biography George Young once said “We can’t have any fire-proof heads of player personnel.”
Soon to be 4 GMs and 6 HCs later here we are. Another season checking the draft order in September for Giants fans after 12 years and counting of fire proof heads of player personnel with no end in sight.
Think to himself “what we have always done is no longer working?”
“The Giants Way” has become synonymous with futility. Even he has to see that, right?
I could actually buy this regime was the breakaway from that but the rot was so bad that it was always going to be the follow up regime to bring in success. Schoen and Daboll don't feel like the Giants way to me. Different but unsuccessful.

I am talking about the “owners own, GMs manage, coaches coach, players play” mantra. The owner is hiring the GMs and the coaches, but the owner doesn’t know what he is doing and we keep getting the wrong folks.
We need to move to “Owner hires executive, executive determines structure and makes hires.” As long as John Mara is involved in the process of hiring folks and personnel is implanted with two relatives who have zero accountability, all Mara is doing is rearranging deck chairs every few years.

This
Maybe the ghost of Pete Roselle will haunt Rodger Goodell and he will force George Young 2.0 on us.
This fish stinks from the head, and Schoen & Daboll aren't the head.
My modest proposal to start a Giants turnaround:
1) Both families exit the org chart on the football side. Make the Giants 100% family-free in anything to do with scouting, personnel, coaching, anything that puts the product on the field. If the Mara and Tisch families want to work on the business side, great, they can knock themselves out. I don't think this is really an issue for the Tisch family but the Maras think of themselves as football people. If they want to work in NFL football, they can sell their shares and get a job with the Steelers (The Rooneys are family, too.) or whatever other team will hire them.
2) John Mara especially needs to stop being involved with anything football-related. He's tainted. CEOs in other business get fired for a few years of inadequate performance. (See Starbucks) He's only still in his job because he's ownership, and that's the problem. He's not the majority owner anyway; he doesn't even own a majority of the Mara family shares. He can go be like his father and deal with league stuff, become a beloved figure and bask in the reflected glory when someone else manages the team to success.
3) One of the Tisches can take over representing ownership in any major football decisions. Yeah, the Tisch family is new-ish to NFL ownership. But I think they know their limitations; the Mara family clearly does not know their limitations. I suspect a lot of the Mara shareholders are restive, too, as the younger Tim Mara was during Wellington's reign of error. The losing, the mediocre stadium, the growing apathy among the fan base... all of it has to be dinging the value of their shares.
But Schoen and Daboll control the roster and roster decisions. Today was embarrassing, from the kicker situation to their inability to score more points- 3tds that equate to 18 points is just trash. The fact that our QB looked functional and is seen as a win also shows what this staff brings to the table.

This is where I am at and have been at for a while. Too many owners in the personnel department. They aren't going anywhere is the scary part.
go root for another team.
Mara will NEVER give up control , it’s the family business. The only possible solution is a MAJOR intervention from the Tisch family/

This is indeed happening. Esp. with younger generations under age of 18 - they don't remember the Eli SB era. This goes on a few more years of no playoffs - you'll have a prime generation of 20-25 years long that has no real pull or belief in Giants as a "winning" franchise.
I know quite a few adult fans that while they won't go root for the Jets or Cowboys - will invest time and money into following "fun" in football at College or Pro level.
But the Giants really work at it.
“The Giants Way” has become synonymous with futility. Even he has to see that, right?
First team in history to score 3 TDs and not give up TD and lose

1,000,000,000%.
My guess is not making it to 19 points with 3 TDs, along with giving up 21 points without giving up a TD is a definite never done before.
It's witnessing simply a whole new way of losing, which I had thought that the Giants had finally run out of such ways.

Is scoring 3 Tds and still not making it to 20pts and then not allowing an opposition TD and still giving up 21 points..
Possibly never done before?

Just so done with looking like garbage.

No never done before in NFL history. Score three don't give up 1 and lose. We own it

Just pathetic how this team finds outrageous ways to lose. Please end this futility.
