This... is the probably the one reason Daboll makes a change

bluewave : 10/14/2024 3:55 pm
Link

If there is one reason why Daboll makes a change at QB it's because it could fracture the locker room and cause him to lose the players if he doesn't!
I'm assuming the team
BUgiantfan : 10/14/2024 4:00 pm : link
has seen Lock play, too. Does that make them feel any better?
...
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 10/14/2024 4:00 pm : link
Dexter didn't sound too thrilled after that Dallas game. I suspect he wasn't too thrilled last night. Hell, before Week 1, AT made some comments that I thought sounded like, 'Stop scapegoating the OL for the offensive issues. It's not just us.'

One can see this coming a mile down the road.

These dudes aren't idiots. They see what we see, even more considering practice. They have friends and family who are probably wisecracking to them, 'Helluva QB you got there. Haha.'
The players always know who can play and who can't
PatersonPlank : 10/14/2024 4:08 pm : link
There is no fooling them
I mean, Nabers also made comments before he was drafted about it.
FStubbs : 10/14/2024 4:17 pm : link
I think that Emmanuel Acho comment has some play around the locker room. Guys aren't stupid.
The players know if the QB's bad.
81_Great_Dane : 10/14/2024 4:27 pm : link
They also know if the backups are worse. Fans always pine for the backup, and imagine the players do, too. Not necessarily.

The locker room may fracture but there's no quick fix by switching out a below-average QB for a bad QB. Except to get people pining to get DJ back.
Get Nabers back
mdthedream : 10/14/2024 4:28 pm : link
and lets see what happens.Nabers,Slayton and Robinson play together again. The Nabers loss is a big one.

Here we go again. No he didn't.
I don't think the whole
Biteymax22 : 10/14/2024 4:31 pm : link
locker room has ever fully rallied behind Jones. Go back to KT's comments about him getting a contract ahead of Saquon, that was after his best season and a playoff win...
Then
Toth029 : 10/14/2024 4:41 pm : link
The heat is on Daboll. It's his ass if they make the change and if it interferes with the team moral.

TBH I feel they'd rally more behind DeVito than Lock.

And for the millionth time, did you see the whole interview? I'm assuming not. This is the Mandela Effect.
To summarize, he was specifically asked about
robbieballs2003 : 10/14/2024 5:04 pm : link
what the Giants will do at QB and Nabers said they'll figure it out. Oh, the horror.
To add more, she specifically said that he may not know who his QB is
robbieballs2003 : 10/14/2024 5:10 pm : link
that Daniel Jones may not be the guy. What is Nabers supposed to say to that question? He said the Giants will figure it out. You guys all make it sound like Nabers went out of his way to criticize Jones. He didn't. Use Thibodeaux as an example. That's fine. Use Dex as an example. That's fine. Use Thomas as an example if he was the one that said that the OL is a scapegoat. That's fine. Using Nabers is just trying to form an opinion first and then use this clip to justify your opinion. Nabers quote belongs nowhere near this topic.

You're not serious.

Think he says "they'll figure it out" if they mentioned Kansas City, San Diego, or Buffalo?

Amazing.
Wasting defensive efforts like last night is a great way for this

to start happening.
The players being down after a loss
BlackLight : 10/14/2024 5:44 pm : link
doesn't mean a QB switch will brighten their moods. Most likely they realize this is a zombie season no matter which guy is the QB.

Plenty of players were here last year when they won games they werent supposed to win with defense and backup QBs.

Yeah, this is why I’m a Giants fan. Burrow is maybe the best QB in the league right now, the Bengals are red hot and the D holds them to 17 in an heroic effort. All we need are 18 measly points. L. F******
Yeah I suggested this yesterday
200711 : 10/14/2024 6:11 pm : link
Games like last night's tear teams to pieces over the QB.

I'd throw DeVito in there immediately without giving it a second thought.

Pay $80 million to Jones to hold a clipboard. Not even being a dick about this - I'm serial.

Parcells benched Simms in '83.

I dunno where I'm going with this.
I think Daboll should make the switch
Gforce11 : 10/14/2024 6:23 pm : link
Give a big fuck you to the ownership and all their inbreeds running the organization. What does he have to lose? He'll be shit canned anyway the way the season is going...

I kinda got that impression from him the way he was calling plays last night.

It was almost like his strategy was: "I'm fucked anyway - might as well just gamble on everything..."

He should've just deactivated whatever the punter's name is.

Parcells was a first year coach as well, but sure, if somehow benching Jones had the same effect, I'd be for it.

Who's LT in this scenario, though? LOL
I don't really expect
santacruzom : 10/14/2024 7:16 pm : link
anything too overt or dramatic. Maybe a player will demand a trade. But I do imagine that it just weighs on the player in subtle psychological/motivational ways. Or perhaps more to the point, a true franchise QB who's better than Jones is probably very beneficial in psychological/motivational ways.
The way I see it Jones has to the trade deadline
DavidinBMNY : 10/14/2024 7:24 pm : link
The more he doesn’t win, the more likely they are to dump players at reasonable contracts to contending teams. Slayton, Singetary, Pinnock, anyone decent that would help another team.

Free up cap and pick up 2 or 3 picks and at that point, you throw Divito in and see what he can do.

As they will be needing a qb, helping them improve their draft position along with accumulating picks is the only game to play.
I think the players like Devito
kelly : 10/14/2024 7:28 pm : link
Results may not improve but a young player who they like may lift their spirits and level of play.

They know Jones is not the answer.
Daboll will not be the one to make the QB change
joe48 : 10/14/2024 7:31 pm : link
This will come from ownership. He would be foolish to make the move and if it backfired he would be gone for sure. I think this has been already discussed. Mara isn’t making a change to appease people on BBI who feel they are the voice of the fanbase.

Why would a reporter, any reporter, ask that of a draftee about Kansas City, San Diego, or Buffalo?

John Mara would never make a move at quarterback in reaction to the fans.

The Giants were booed off the field at halftime, and to be clear, they earned that send off. They had two chances to score in the final two minutes and blew them both.

First, they had a 48-yard field goal attempt ruined by the usually reliable Zak DeOssie. He snapped high on the attempt, and while holder Daniel Jones made a nice play to get the ball down, kicker Alrick Rosas missed the 48-yard attempt wide left.

But the defense actually forced a Bills punt, which returned T.J. Jones returned 60 yards to the Bills 32. The Giants had plenty of time and another chance ... until Manning’s pass was intercepted by a diving defensive tackle Ed Oliver.
Yeah

I don't think Daboll is anywhere near having the authority to make a QB change

Yes, that will help them win a few more games
It doesn’t mean the the QB is any better
In fact, it means replacing him is more difficult

The ugly truth is tanking or injuries are the best way to get your QB
Talk all you want about the misses - but the Bears and Commanders feel a lot better about their future than the Giants
nabers back
jestersdead : 10/14/2024 9:41 pm : link
the problem with him coming back is the misconception that Jones is a good QB and can get it done. Nabers is making Jones better, not the other way around and it skews the perception of the QB play
I don’t want any part of lock
djm : 10/14/2024 11:17 pm : link
He sucks. I still don’t know what they even signed him. He’s had 1-2 decent games in his entire career. He’s got no upside. DeVito at least has something. DeVito or don’t bother.
Lost in the whole thing with the Nabers interview
Matt M. : 10/15/2024 2:45 am : link
is how stupid the question was. For the Giants to draft Nabers, it meant no new QB. It was quite simple.
