Is Drew Lock that much worst

Adirondack GMen : 10/14/2024 6:10 pm
You know in baseball they say the most important player on the team is the next pitcher out of the bull pen.
Well in our case it off the bench.
So, help me out - I saw Lock in pre season. Few plays and ouchy'. Then Cutlets comes in. So now do we go for locks or cutlets!
What's the book on Lock? Is he worst, if so why do we have him!
please fill me in.
Lock is stupid.

Pretend he doesn't exist and put DeVito in.

The team will rally behind him more than stupid Lock.

If DeVito gets killed, then we can think about putting in Lock.
Lock has considerably...

more arm talent than Jones.

But he will do some dumb things trying to make the bigger, riskier play. He doesn't take enough of the easy stuff/"profit". He thinks he can fit the ball into a keyhole.

IMV, we will have a better chance for splash plays with Lock, but he will likely offset that with his idiocy.

No. How can he be?
HardTruth : 10/14/2024 6:19 pm : link
Jones is 3-9 last 2 years

Taylor/DeVito were 5-6

probably not much worse.

Between Lock, Jones and DeVito it's the epitome of shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic.

But DeVito and Jones can't dance like this.

Agree... it's time, at this point i'd rather have the ability to make some big plays and suffer some dumb things than a dink-dunk game manager that we have who does some dumb things like yesterday's pick...

Looking at career stats, Jones and DeVito get sacked a lot, and Lock throws lot of interceptions.

If Thomas is out next week, and the OL looks like it will disintegrate, I'd go with Lock, with DeVito a distant 2nd.

Neither have a 25 mil insurance policy that could destroy next season.
watched him in preseason

just aweful rather see Devito. I don't see them taking Jones out.
Worst?

Every single game the last few weeks i kept thinking it's crazy how he just shows no regard for his health

Then collinsworth commented on it.

Then I thought why would he be so careless with his health...
It's just different flavors

Jones will be a lot better down to down. He knows what made him his big bucks and has optimized around a hyper conservative approach that he can perform with his very limited QB skills.

Lock will make more mistakes and be less able to string together long drives. But he will get bigger chunks.

Jones is probably the guy you'd want as a backup QB on a good team. Lock would be more interesting to watch and give us more volatility.

I believe you mean whacked
I don't hink Lock is much worse, if any, than Jones

He has a stronger arm, can see past the first read, and is more of a gambler. He doesn't have Jones' wheels though. He did get beat out by Geno Smith in Seattle. If the season is toast, I'd rather see Lock than Jones as he'd spread the ball more and we'd be able to get a better feel for our TEs and WRs not named Nabers or Slayton. Plus, Lock has more to gain by good performance than Jones in terms of another contract.

I am perplexed as to what people see in DeVito, he was a good flash in the pan story but I see nothing to build on. Your mileage may vary.

If there’s any real question about who would get the start, Devito hasn’t been dressing for the games.

for a context-less stat that seems to be catnip, Lock has a career 39.1% winning percentage as a starter and Jones has a 37.9% winning percentage as a starter in over twice the data points. Extrapolate to your heart's content...

But shouldn't a QB guru, whisperer, etc be able to coach him up? Part of the reason Dabs was hired was his abiity to develop QBs. Ok Jones is not the answer but at what point do we see that part of his resume? Or does it only apply to top tier picks and if so doesn't Lock fit that pre-req? Joe needs to have his buddy step up in that area.

I’ll take the guy that can give our receivers a chance to open up their game and give Ds something to think about deep, otherwise the dink and dunk is no different than Ds playing down low in the box.

Fun fact: The word "lox", with the same pronunciation almost exactly the same meaning, goes back around 8,000 years.

DeVito didn't look very good himself this summer.
Lock would at least throw the ball deep

I can see where Nabers would become frustrated with DJ's short passing game.
The Eagles have owned Jones during his entire career
Fishmanjim57 : 10/15/2024 7:57 pm : link
Bench Jones this week and put Lock in. The Eagles know what Jones is going to do before each snap, he's that easy for them to read.
