State media turning on Jones?

There was also the Schwartz article about friction in the locker room if the defense continues to outplay the offense.

Eh.

They were critical of him in week 1 too. They would lose every shred of respect if they found some way to spin that performance as anything other than bad.

"below-average" is lukewarm critique.
He should go to jail

Just listened to the BLEAV pod…

Carl was critical but didn’t go completely off script. He did say if you get Jones off his game early he won’t recover, which is pretty damning. We’ve noticed it too.

Exactly. If you read it, it comes across as a one off situation. “Performance” being singular and no mention of “continuous”.

Just one bad game!!! Everyone has them !!!

When Papa & Banks turn on Jones, you know it's over. Both are complete shills & total state media. I never had any respect for Bob because, to be frank, I don't think he's that good @ his job, but Carl...great Giant who just started parroting the company line. I lost a lot of respect for him.

Don't forget that Carl said 'Hats off to Jones' on his Week 2 performance vs. WFT.

The bar is below the ground.

And yet Jones manages to get below it.

Bob in particular has become insufferable. Thanks to twitter, I've gotten to see how he interacts with people and there's nothing worth listening to there.

Red zone pick on 1st down, do not pass Go, go directly to jail!
Jones is like a baseball pitcher who doesn't play well at home....
Fishmanjim57 : 10/14/2024 7:19 pm : link
He should be benched next week against Philly. I'm tired of seeing Philly beat him, and they will next week. They know how to beat him, and they've owned him during his entire NFL career.
Put Lock in, not DeVito!
I'd rather see Lock start an important game for the Giants, rather than putting in a PS QB. Lock has at least been a starting QB in his NFL career.
Agreed on the Papa hate

He really represents himself poorly.

Hes also incredibly rude on every podcast/interview he does. Hes always paying attention to something else while a guest/Carl is talking. Just look at his face while a discussion is going on - its like he has better things going on outside of what hes currently doing.

They must have gotten the "bat signal" from 1925 Giants Dr., that it is now ok to criticize Jones. The end is near.

Bingo.

Clearest example was the Kadarius Toney situation. About a week or two before the trade, in a somewhat cryptic manner, Banks pulled back the curtain on Toney's phantom injuries, his work ethic, practice habits, etc. Prior to that, he had been, at best, ambivalent on Toney, if not falling somewhere short of cheerleading.

I'm not saying Jones is going to get traded next week, but Banks will not be publicly critical of a team "foundational" piece. His are some of the easiest tea leaves to read in this organization.

Agreed. I thought I was the only one who noticed that about Papa. I haven't listened to a podcast or interview with any of those losers in a very long time, but from what I remember I always thought Papa was just annoying on camera. Easily distracted and his eyes were wondering around the room when someone was talking. Found that very obnoxious about him.

I always thought all those guys were "okay" but ever since the team started sucking brutal ass, all those morons became unbearable. Very patronizing.

Graduated from "indifference" to "infuriation"

It is amazing how defensive they both are. Even Pat Hanlon has been known to get into it with fans who are critical on social media. If anyone should be self-aware enough to see how bad that looks it should be the head of public relations but alas....
Dottino takes the cake though

He's pathetic interview on WFAN a few years ago pleading his case for the team retaining Gettleman was rock bottom

Dottino is the Cookie Monster and John Mara is Jim Henson..

All he does is say what he is controlled to say. His questions are leading to elicit the desired response that is always positive.

You guys are overly critical. He’s not a shill he’s just not a knee jerk guy on a radio show screaming and yelling to sell ads. He’s more measured and leaves room to change his opinion. He’s got to cover this team good or bad. Neither CB nor BP has been huge in their DJ support but thought he had more skills and a bad surrounding cast and changed coaches too much. All true. But they also said he’s got to perform.

They were not “luke warm.” They were as direct as they have been.

CB “the book is out on DJ, get to him early he won’t play well.”

BP on the INT “a 6th year QB can’t make that mistake.” They both went on about how he has multiple options from get rid of it, take a grounding or take a sack but no way can you do that. Said it’s rookie level.

BP on missing a 3rd down in cut “a professional QB has to make that throw. You have to.”

CB called him a role player as opposed to one of the best. Said he’s not a gunslinger like Burroughs or Allen. He won’t win you the game, but can lose it. “He’s not built that way.” Has to just make good decisions and “keep the train on the tracks.” Talked about how IF Dabes thinks he’s the best chance to win games they have to protect him in game planning (basically work around his known limitations.) BP said “well can you even be a good offense if your QB is a role player?”

Called DJ out for going to Slay as a security blanket when he’s uncomfortable as he was in this game and not seeing other options. “On the 4th down he eyeballed him the whole way.”

They both said 15 yard long and 7 pts ain’t gonna win games in this league. Talking about all the criticism of DJ they basically said they get it. BP said “1-14 prime time, he’s basically proving his critics right.” They just call it game by game. Banks said he’s been in “let’s see how this plays out” mode.

They don’t yell and scream and say he suck. But they were not sugar coating it and I think their big picture thoughts of he’s not the guy are leaking out here. They’re not writing off the season. Why would they? They have a lot more shows to do. But they certainly were not pretending he’s been anything but shit 2/5 games and ok to pretty good in 3/5. Which is about right. But I don’t think they’re saying bad play 2/5th of games is ok, or wasting a great effort by the D, or having a QB that is a “role player” is fine.

Sorry Daniel

nice rescue attempt but they have both gone after fans who have been critical of Jones. Now that everyone sees that the emperor has no clothes, they should take what is coming to them, and if that label is "shill" oh well.

Six plus years of being measured is being dense.

If one is to believe these guys know more than us, why are they 2 years behind the curve on seeing Jones for what he is? None of this is *new*.
