Anyone see this Stafford to Giants rumors

Wonder who goes ( Hyatt, Jones, ???)and if this rumor has legs.
NY Giants trading for former Pro Bowl QB isn't as wild as you might think
Maybe the Giants trading for Matthew Stafford could work after all...
New York Giants trade rumors have caught fire after Matthew Stafford Giants trade rumors hit X/Twitter. Matthew Stafford trade rumors started when Fansided listed the New York Giants as the #1 Matt Stafford trade destination. With Daniel Jones on the team does a Matt Stafford Giants trade make sense for Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll? NY
Thoughts?
That’s not a rumor

What would be the point of trading for a 37 year old QB?

Technically speaking I think the math works, and still allows us to draft our next QB. It’s also an immediate upgrade though I think with 5 losses this is just too late.
This came from the same

place as the Dexter Lawrence to Minnesota Vikings rumors. Just one fan floating an idea out and other people jumping all over it.
It is not a rumor
jvm52106 : 10/17/2024 11:09 am : link
and it isn't happening. Stafford to Miami, Minnesota (if something happened with Darnold), New Orleans and Pittsburgh would be more likely.
bringing in an aging star QB to win a handful of games
Greg from LI : 10/17/2024 11:10 am : link
only hurts their ability to draft a future starter
A suggestion from fans on social media is now a rumor?
Kmed6000 : 10/17/2024 11:11 am : link
A stupid suggestion at that. How does this make sense on either side?? Someone please give me a reason why the Giants or Rams would even consider this a decent idea.
Google Home Screen BS
Blueworm : 10/17/2024 11:11 am : link
As soon as I see garbage like that, you're off the list.
No recommendation please.
With the Schoen/Daboll QB decision-making since they've been here

I wouldn't totally dismiss this completely outrageous suggestion.
It's not a roomah
JonC : 10/17/2024 11:12 am : link
I'm all for trading Jones, but this isn't a great idea given Stafford's age and increasing fragility.
i'd be up for trading Jones, but only for a non-QB

draft a QB in '25
Why would LA trade their Franchise QB?
David B. : 10/17/2024 11:22 am : link
Who's behind Stafford that's ready to take over?

If we're in the bizaro world where teams are willing to trade their Franchise QB to the Giants for anyone on the Giants roster, why not just shoot for the moon and get Mahommes? They can have anyone they want in return.
I'm a big fan of Stafford...
bw in dc : 10/17/2024 11:25 am : link
and think he still has some gas in the tank. And the NFCE is actually winnable with better offensive play. So, it's not the worst idea.

I would rather, however, have a younger QB who is a dual threat and leverage a rookie contract.

Wouldn’t hate this prior to the AT news. Like Sy said this team is a QB away from being a contender. Stafford for a couple years with a QB drafted highly this year is a great thought. All the QBs we will have a shot at will most likely be towards the mid to back of the first round anyways

Spider43 : 10/17/2024 11:42 am : link
Stafford is much better... but still, this is not a trade we should be seriously considering. And because of that, it probably IS within the realm of possibility for Mara. Still too far-fetched for me to happen though.

34 yr old YA Tittle traded to NYG for Lou Cordileone !
Anyone remember Lou ? I think not .
Can’t see it.
CV36 : 10/17/2024 11:49 am : link
Not ideal for the future. The future rides on nailing a QB in the draft or getting a good one in the off season. 2-3 years of Stanford wouldn’t be bad. We would likely be 5-1 with him this year. It would be cap friendly. Why would the Rams do it? Like the other poster said just an idea.

Is not legitimate reporting and not even a rumor site. It is just a content generation site for clicks. Random fans type of hot takes and trade ideas and post them. It is BBI without deep analysis or any legit insiders.
I don't think it's true
Lines of Scrimmage : 10/17/2024 12:11 pm : link
and he is not the best fit here imv.

I think they should draft the QB with the best ability to play from the pocket under pressure in either next years draft or the year after. Hard winning a SB without that.

Stafford a few years ago with the right HC (not this one) would have been great.
This is obviously BS
mittenedman : 10/17/2024 12:18 pm : link
but it would've been intriguing before Thomas went down. Giants probably instant Super Bowl contenders with Stafford and that D.
It will confuse all the receivers...
thrunthrublue : 10/17/2024 12:42 pm : link
to be getting tight accurate spirals hitting them in their hands while in full stride......especially on passes further than eight yards. Stafford is a human Jugs machine attached to a superior football intelligence, again, something these Giants receivers have NEVER seen from their current turnover machine called "Ugghs".
I would trade for him just to remind us what it would be like to have
GiantBlue : 10/17/2024 12:48 pm : link
a REAL quarterback playing for us again instead of the three blind mice currently in our QB room.

I am so starved for a real quarterback!
Not

And who the hell would trade for Jones?
Cmon guys

1 or 2 more seasons and Jones should get things figured out.

I know that is the sentiment of most of the BBI board, but I do wonder if that opinion exists in the rest of the fanbase beyond BBI. I really can't tell.

When I do go watch Giants games at bars, the non-Giants fans couldn't be less impressed with Jones.

I don't know...how about good QB play for 2-3 seasons?

NO? We don't want that?
of course this isn't a real rumor (yet)
djm : 10/17/2024 1:52 pm : link
but I would be open to this in the off-season. Or even now.

Not totally outlandish.
redwhiteandbigblue : 10/17/2024 2:27 pm : link
Bring in an aging veteran, then next draft get a franchise rookie. Next season ease the rookie along and provide mentorship to the rookie until mid season.

Sound familiar? That is precisely what the Giants did when they signed Warner and drafted Eli.

I actually like the idea. Jones would not provide mentorship. And all you have to do is look at Darnold to see what damage can be done by starting a rookie in NY from day 1.
It's fake
Lambuth_Special : 10/17/2024 3:09 pm : link
Essentially started by a Twitter user with a modest Giants podcast as a joke that somehow took off.

However, I would love it. You can still draft a QB and kick the tires on Stafford.

The YA trade was in 1961, not 1964.

And it should be noted that Title's record at age 38 was 1-8-2, which is the age Stafford would be in 2026.

Almost all the all-time great QBs (except for Brady and Brees) fell of a cliff (stats and record-wise) somewhere in the 36-38 year range.
He’d last a week with Ezeudu

I laughed too hard at this.
Stafford is still much younger than Flacco

If it means the immediate death of Daniels Jones' Giants career

Otherwise it's a silly allocation of resources

considering we need draft capital to have maneuverability to get a QB this April.
Pass on the short term dopamine fix
widmerseyebrow : 10/17/2024 4:11 pm : link
Put ourselves in the best position to draft higher. Benching Jones, avoiding his injury guarantee, and continuing to lose games is a win win win.
...
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 10/17/2024 4:16 pm : link
Would be idiotic AF to make this trade. & if Schoen did, he should be fired.

Of course I'd put the odds of Stafford ending up a Giant the same of me sharing a bed with Jessica Alba tonight.
Don't
Toth029 : 10/17/2024 4:38 pm : link
See Giants trading for a QB.

It's the draft where Schoen will focus.
This is a good idea...
DefenseWins : 10/17/2024 4:53 pm : link
You bring in Stafford who has a few years left. You can still draft your QB and have him learn under Stafford. Meanwhile, we have a real QB who can help us to win now

Atlanta did the same when they signed cousins and then drafted their QB

You guys are assuming that trading for Stafford means we stop looking for our QB in the draft. Don't you think the giants know how old Stafford is? Or do they have to log into BBI to figure out what to do next?
Only if they take DJ in return
56goat : 10/17/2024 6:09 pm : link
Then again there is nobody in the league, nobody who ever played in the league, nobody who has every touched a football, nobody who has ever said the word football that I wouldn't take in return.
what

That rumor is circling, but who knows….
Simms11 : 10/17/2024 7:23 pm : link
Anyway, Stafford would immediately bring some excitement back to this Team. He’s still an extremely good passer and could be considered one of the top QBs in the NFC. That said, he is 35, I believe, but might have a few good seasons left still. Biggest concern with him would be mobility with a now shaky line, without AT. Another potential issue is the fact the we could win a lot more games now and would most likely end up drafting lower. Could still grab a QB, but may not be one we want in our range, as a result. Instant gratification vs potential future. I’m sure fans would be split on this, but the excitement he could bring back to the team might be worth a gamble. Lastly, we’d have to make some salary cap adjustments, but it’s doable if we want.
Offer a 3rd round pick or a 4th and 6th
Ivan15 : 10/17/2024 11:33 pm : link
Stafford only has a year left on his contract, I believe. An extension deal could allow the Giants to be consistent playoff contenders for the next 3-4 years until the window closes on a Super Bowl run.
