Yankees with some lineup adjustments with a lefty on the mound. Rizzo sitting, so is Austin Wells. Stanton gets bumped into the cleanup spot.
1.Gleyber Torres, 2B
2.Juan Soto, RF
3.Aaron Judge, CF
4.Giancarlo Stanton, DH
5.Jazz Chisholm Jr. 3B
6.Jon Berti, 1B
7.Anthony Volpe, SS
8.Alex Verdugo, LF
9.Jose Trevino, C
Having GC in the cleanup might help Judge see some better pitches.
Trevino blows and cannot stop the running game of the opposing team hopefully it doesn't bite us in the ass

Ugg I forgot that Trevino can't throw runners out any more. I hope that is not a deciding factor in this game.

I also may have gone for sitting Jizz in favor of Oswaldo or Berti.

Not sure if people remember this, but Wells stopped hitting when he got hit on the hand while batting. No one seems to remember. I think it was Sept. 2. I think he finished up somethi g like 7 for 76 after that.
Just like no one acknowledged that Verdugo started hitting when he got the new batting gloves that didn't cause rashes and blisters on his hands due to an allergic reaction.
Cleveland with the best home record in the AL (50-30) but the Yanks with the best road record in MLB (50-31).
Today's game will be a little less stressful, with the Yankees up 2-0.

This. Trevino can't throw and CLE can run.
Trevino is a good defensive catcher. His bat is not so good, but Trevino is not a detriment behind the plate.

Wells isn't so great against the stolen base either. He is marginally better than Trevino.

I'd rather see him in the lineup than Jazz right now. I'd also rather take my chances with Wells due to defense.

I recognize that he won the platinum glove, but this year he hasn't been nearly as good in my opinion based on the eye test. (The numbers may say otherwise, I'm not sure how to easily access them.) Anyway, I hope I'm wrong and he kicks ass today.
Easy way to bump Stanton up to clean up for the rest of the postseason.
Wells should be in the game as soon as the lefty is out.
add calendar here
MLB can't fix this shit soon enough.
I’m not arguing that they suck. They absolutely do and there is apparently no accountability for them when they do suck game after game after game. BUT, I’m not sure they are any worse than they’ve always been. It’s just easier to see the bad calls due to the strike zone box the broadcasts now all put up. We didn’t need that box back in the day when Glavine, Maddox and Smoltz were getting calls a foot off the plate though, lol
Somebody will be getting let go this off season on that staff.
And I have muted the sound
This is true. We might be better off without the box, which may not be accurate anyway..
It can be the new "we play today we win today das it"
You’re the better team and you’re lethal offensively. Just err on the side of conservatism. It would be one thing if they felt they had to push the envelope to get runs, but you’re looking at 1 out with the top of the order up, all you have to do is not fuck up and let the hitting talent do its thing. That was ridiculous.

Like everyone is saying here, and in my group chat lol, this makes absolutely no sense and has been happening all fucking year.
Should've had it.
Yup, he should be starting the remainder of the games on the bench, barring injury. And this ump is umping us.
Well he better come out of it or he’s going to have a long offseason trying to explain it Mr. MVP
If they lose this series it will be because of base running.
Made no fucking sense.
Why did he face anyone at all if Kahnle was gonna pitch?
Top 7 are 0 for….says it all.

The other night they scored on past balls. Typical post season offense where the offense is lifeless.

Sorry top 6
He also created the situation where Hamilton got hurt.
Aaron
Fucking
Judge

You were saying???? THAT'S MY MVP!!!!!!!
They most definitely do
Stanton
Stanton
DONT CALL HIM MIKE
Absolutely!
You’re about to see the best closer in baseball
Could be??? Absolutely!
Seriously, I feel like it made Clase feel even worse lol.

Agree 100%. He came out of it big time…
Rizzo didn’t pinch hit for Berti - if he doesn’t come in for defense I guess we can assume it’s the injury.
How is it that we can't find a competent first baseman defensively (or offensively, for that matter)?
He looked like me bending down when my back is sore
It's so ridiculous. I hate it so much.
Nope Yankees can’t hit when it counts l
His defense is superb though. Rather see him than Trevino who is a complete nightmare.
He didn't have great command, he missed pretty bad with some fastballs. I still have confidence in him. But this is also the danger of overusing him. Sigh.
Lol. So fucking dumb.
now Cleveland will believe with this shit .
Tomorrow is a must win. This was a demoralizing loss. Another loss tomorrow would probably make it a near certainty that we're down 3-2 going back to the Bronx.
Ramirez on deck.
No excuses. Can’t throw that pitch that badly in that count.

agree this loss was brutal
pen has been so good, but that's over now
Would jsvebeen better to lose ho hum 3 1
Game was an uphill battle the second they announced this fucktard lineup. The fact they had a shot to take it at all is amazing.
You should get horse whipped for being a know nothing fucking moron.

they were a good pitch away from winning 5-3. This loss is on the players not executing, plain and simple.

Look! More bullshit from a fucktard!
Totally agree. Hate to say it but you have to tip your cap to the two Cleveland hitters who capitalized on two shitty pitches. They could’ve fouled them off but got the barrel on both and cashed in. Also helluva defensive play on Jazz’s ball too.
The Wells K with 2nd and 3rd hurt big time as well.
This 1000x this. They haven’t handled adversity that well this season, if they can win this series despite one of the more brutal loses you can have then they might just win it all.
You mean a closer like Clase, who’s choked twice already this postseason?
Quote:
One fucking out. That’s all you needed to get. What a pathetic loss.
he needed to get 4 outs… again for like the e 5th straight game. Can’t expect a nobody like luke weaver to be Mariano Rivera. Speaking of Momhe blew a playoff game in terrible fashion in Cleveland as well back in 1997. Shit happens
I didn't like Boone using him at the end of G2. But he started overthrowing when he got to 2 outs and 2 strikes.
But maybe people will shut up about Judge in the postseason now.
Just get the fucking job done.

How did they get a 5-3 lead then?
The other guys are paid too and as frustrating as it is, you give them their credit and move on. Stop being a sore loser.
I'm despondent, but this shit happens, unfortunately.
Brutal loss

Mayza should have never been on this roster. Then you try another more than one inning save from Weaver even though Holmes had been pitching well in the seventh and eighth. In the ninth he gives up a scorcher to Ramirez and a bomb that barely stays in the park for a double. Then he grooves an 85 mph changeup to Noel. After the double the move should have been bring in the sinker ball pitcher to pitch to Noel.
Using Rizzo at first in the 9th when you need defense (Cabrera) is stupid at this point in his career. Berti should have been nowhere near first at all and now Hamilton is hurt because of that.
The good news is Hulu got fried with Judge up in the 10th so I didn't have to watch the inevitable.
Brutal loss
Only the 26 guys in the Guardians dugout
Boone’s not the only reason they lost but that decision was absolutely idiotic
And despite all that they still should have won which is why it’s not on him. But you’re seeing what a value negative a bad manager is
Yeah that’s the annoying part. Most dramatic HRs in a long time.
The runner who reached on the error was erased by the DP.
He’s starting tomorrow

I don't understand why this isn't being mentioned more, I totally agree.
I knew Boone would eventually find a way to screw this team! That was all on him. Why not continue to play Holmes earlier like has been doing? You play Clay late in the game and this is what usually has happens! smh.
The Dodgers bought their team, that's weak in my imo. Another reason why Baseball should have a salary cap.
