My thoughts (Long post)

giantsfanforlife : 10/20/2024 6:11 pm
You are what your record is, the Giants are 2-5, not a good team especially on offense. We not running the ball more, offensive line didn't play well, Jones miss throw & had a bad game; 2nd week in a row where our longest play is 14 to 15 yard & you not going to win games like that. The defense beside giving up the Saquon run & Brown touchdown played well in the first half; the defense can do what they can & if they not getting help from the offense, eventually it will break. Good team find ways to win/overcome obstacles even if everything isn't perfect. Were not a good team & we need to get better & it starts from players to the owner of the team.

I am glad they pull Jones in the 4th quarter when the game was getting out of hand (avoid the injury clause & see what Lock can do even though it didn't change much). As I mention, Jones will be the starter & will continue to be the starter for now; maybe after the bye when we get closer to the end of the season, I can see the change then or if we get blown out again. I understand fans benching him & i don't blame them (but I don't see any change for now at quarterback). Jones will be gone after this season & we need to address the quarterback position in the offseason. We need a quarterback that is consistent, can make players around him better, have comeback wins by putting it on him, & win in the big moments like primetime games, playoff, or Super-bowl.

I am not going to root for the team to tank or lose on purpose, but if we keep losing I don't care; I will continue to watch and hope for the best. Realistically I don't think things will improve & we will have a losing record (maybe win some more games, but thats it).

Regarding fans saying we should kept Saquon: we offer around the same money to him during the 2022 season (and after) & the market for running back is lower. Beside the Eagles, I don't think another team would give the same contract as the Eagles did; he is getting older so I am glad he on a better team. Frankly if he was still on the Giants, it won't really make much of a difference with how we are playing.

Regarding Daboll & Schoen, I would be surprise if they get fired (either or both), but I wouldn't blame the fan/organization on moving on from them. Going into the 2022 draft, alot of teams was high on Evan Neal; it didn't workout unfortunately & maybe he will get some playing time this season. Ezeudu is a guard playing out of position (even though he has played tackle in college). We have to see how he plays at guard in order to see how he is. GM will have some misses like McKethan (but before Beavers got hurt, he was playing well in preseason). Jalin Hyatt does have potential & he is still young; he is making mistake but I wouldn't give up on him just yet. Tre-Hawins had a good camp/preseason last year & he made mistakes (still young & have to see how he develops). You have to give 3 years to see how the players from the draft exceed before making a decision on them going forward. I thought overall draft especially this year has been good. Daboll won coach of the year in 2022 & you see he didn't lose the locker room and player fought hard last season. I think he can be a good coach & his play-calling has been okay (can be tough when you dont have player executing them). My opinion is you give them 1 more year and see how it goes, but I won't be surprise if they are not here. You need to have continuity and see how it plays out. Yes you go where the money is, but sometimes players/coaches would rather be at part of a good successful organizations.

One thing I will say about Joe Schoen is he should had brought competition to Jones at quarterback this offseason incase he doesn't improve like he is now. We should had sign Darnold, Flacco, Russell wilson, or even Jacoby Brissett. At least if Jones is struggling we have a reason to change quarterback. I really think they wanted to give Daniel Jones another chance & just bring in a backup to be a backup. People can say put Lock or Devito in, but all 3 quarterback are inconsistent; is it really going to make much of a difference? Like Joe Schoen own up not getting a punt returner last year (before we got Gunner Olszewski), he should own up to this as well. It year 3, we shouldn't be going backward, we should go forward.

Another thing I want to add is fans saying Eagles/Bengals defense isnt great and the cowboys can't stop the run. Thats all true, but until we get better, do the execution, & the basic fundamentals, none of that matters.

Different scenerios going forward: If Schoen & Daboll stays, they will get a chance to draft their quarterback & add more talent around. Look at Washington with Daniels as their quarterback; their defense isn't that great, but they are finding ways to win. William on the bears, have a great defense, good receivers and finally winning more games after a slow start.

If Daboll is gone, I think the Scenerio will be similar is he isn't gone with getting a new quarterback, but the staff might change.

If Daboll/Schoen both get fired, we get a new GM/head coach, we will start over again and this team will look different after 3-4 years.

I know beside 2016/2022, this team has been terrible year after year. Eventually we will get it right & be competitive every year. The Giants will be a good team again & we will go back to the Superbowl.

As fans, we shouldn't be divided, respect everyone opinion (even if we don't agree), come together, and have confidence for the future. Thats all we can do is hope for the best. We are loyal to this team & this rock bottom/dark time will end at some point. Its like life, there will be good and bad time, have to learn from prior mistakes, become better, & do the best we can. If we can struggle, we can have success as well.
I agree

The team is bad
DavidinBMNY : 10/20/2024 6:31 pm : link
And they don't have a difference maker at the key position which makes it worse.

I agree they really botched the backup QB choice.

Jones will get the next start but the clock is ticking loudly now.

I think Nabers is a difference maker, Slayton is a good 2nd option with Robinson in the slot. I think Johnson & Tracy getting more reps will get better. Losing Flott, Burns, & Kayvon hurts, but defense did what they can. I agree time is ticking with Jones, but for now he will start.

The Giants stink but you want to stay the coarse with Daboll and Schoen.

In my opinion, I would give them 1 more year; if the offense continue to play like this the rest of the season or if Daboll loses the locker room, then I would not be surprised if we have a new head coach. I think Joe Schoen is safe, but well see how things plays out within time.
not only do Schoen and Daboll need a QB
Shirk130 : 10/20/2024 7:49 pm : link
but it's been 3 years and the offensive line is still crap. But so glad we got the flashy WR.

The game against the Bengals & Eagles, the offensive line hasn't played well especially losing Thomas for the rest of the season. Prior games to that, they were playing well. We definitely need to add more depth especially a backup tackle.
Not one QB drafted or brought in to develop.

This GM and coach are more of the same……crap!

They tried to make a trade with Patriot to get Drake Maye; unfortunately it didn't workout. I think they should had brought in competition for quarterback in the offseason, which Schoen didn't do.
Drake Maye wasn't the only QB available
Shirk130 : 10/20/2024 8:04 pm : link
last offseason. Trying to trade for him doesn't absolve them from figuring out a way to improve at the position.

If the Giants look like how they played verse the Eagles & Bengals the rest of the season or if Brian Daboll lose the locker room/player quiting, in that case I do believe Brian Daboll will be gone.

True, but I think realistically if the Giants were able to get a quarterback, it would had been Drake Maye. In the offseason we only heard that they only spoke with the Patriots; they should had spoke with Commanders or the Bears.
I think the defense packed it in sometime after the 1st quarter

because the offense did nothing.

Completely agree
Just want to add
giantsfanforlife : 10/20/2024 10:09 pm : link
Yes Daniel Jones is holding the offense back; yes he doesn't play well at home especially on prime time; yes he is inconsistent, but part of the problem on the offense is Daboll. I know without a good quarterback, its not easy, but the offense shouldn't be this bad (especially after 2 week we beat Seattle). He was suppose to be a quarterback guru & help the offense. This offense stinks & hard to watch. I think Daboll can coach, but things don't get better/loses the locker room, he will be gone.

Exactly.

There is little talent on offense. No starter on offense is in the top 1/3 of the starters at his position aside from potentially Nabers. It’s a real problem that a rookie wr is far and away the best player on offense. Iy’s a team of JAGs.
Schoen should absolutely be fired
markky : 10/21/2024 7:15 am : link
1. I don’t care if pundits were high on Neal. It’s Schoen’s job to be right. And there were red flags

2. 6 years of Jones as the uncontested starter. Every knows he can’t be an NfL starter, we’re paying two other human beings that are labeled as QBs, at least notionally, and we’re not comfortable that at least one of them is an upgrade over the horrendous team lay we’re watching now? It’s an admission that we have 2 guys in the game day roster who shouldn’t be in the NFL either. What the hell. This alone should lead to dismissal. I’d fire both Schoen and Dabs this week.

Alot of teams including the Cowboys were high on Evan Neal in the 2022 draft. I don't blame them for taking him, but he turned out to be a bad pick. Regarding Jones, after that 2022 season, I think they still hope that Daniel Jones was their guy (even if they couldn't get Drake Maye). They stuck with him & thought if he surrounded by a good line/receiver, he would improve. But no matter what we do, Jones get worse every year.

I am sure Slayton & Robinson would play on a different team. They both need to do a better job holding onto the ball. Our tight end and running back (Tracy), is still young and developing (they will get better within time).
