Giants are dead last in the NFL in YPC allowed on defense

i think literally all of them are bad at that.

our other 4 DT - Nacho (another joe schoen special) and Schoens draft picks - Davidson/Riley are failing.

like Daniels. Saqaun had three big runs. Numbers get skewed a bit. Run D hasn’t been as bad as those numbers would tell you. Certainly when Dex is out other teams take advantage. We do need another DT next to Dex that can be a force. It’ll have to be taken care of this off-season.

I know, it’s sickening…..I’m sure the players aren’t giving up on the season they’ve worked so hard to train for, but some things become so apparent during the season.

And Ojulari is as one-dimensional as a OLB can be.

if your LBs/S/Edge cant cover - get people who can do both stop run and cover.

Had defenses that could run defend in Tennessee but he also had more effective edge guys.

Ojulari is a talented pass rusher but does not contain.

Roches sucks. Chatman and Davidson are backup/role players. DL is a huge need on this team. McFadden misses a ton of tackles and takes bad angles. Pinnock is got awful in run support. I never saw a safety take bad angles like Pinnock. Azeez never keeps outside containment. Okereke hasn’t played as well as he did last year.

continue to be rearranged, as the ship continues to take on water! There is no “Pete Rozelle” leader to take the team out of John “Hazellwood” Mara’s hands….sad.

Run defense is attitude. I think overall our team lacks a toughness and it shows more and more as the game wears on because our offense is so inept.. not everything is as obvious as the stats say and truthfully, our offense and our walking depression poster of a QB is killing this franchise- period!

None of our IDLs outside of Dex is any good. And Dex can't play every snap. I thought it was the most glaring weakness on our roster going into the year (outside QB). And I think it has proved to be so.

And if either KT or Burns is out, we're down to only 1 decent Edge defender. IMO, the biggest off-season job, outside QB, is to improve the supporting cast around Dex, Burns and KT up front on D.

Suppose you have two teams that have each allowed about 1,000 yards rushing. By your logic, both defenses would be about equal in effectiveness against the run. But suppose one of the teams allowed 1,000 yards rushing on 500 carries (2.0 YPC) and the other on 100 carries (10 YPC). They are not equally effective against the run.

Agreed. Losses like yesterday and this season in general engender overreactions.

The defense has been good to excellent for most of this season and were very good for much of the game yesterday.

As terrible as this season has gone, the one redeeming aspect is that I think we are on the verge of having a very good defense for the long term.

However, I will argue that the collapse yesterday may have had as much to do with them being gassed as quitting.

What a great draft pick that was… what is Schoen like 1 for 4 with his first round picks so far?

1 for 13 on 3rd down and still allowed 28 points… they killed us on 4th down and got 14 points on 4th downs. Coulda been a game. McCloud 1v1 on AJ Brown on 4th down in a zero blitz is inexcusable IMO

This is the biggest problem the franchise currently faces. It is a loser organization. It is not tough in any way and is beaten down expecting the other shoe to drop at any moment. Beginning of the game. Within a few series, it became apparent that the Giants couldn’t score a TD against a middling Eagles defense. It’s really simple.

Even up only 14, the Eagles playcalling went from balanced to incredibly conservative.

Every player on the field knew the Giants couldn’t and wouldn’t score a TD. The game became a de facto scrimmage, especially after the Giants goal line failure at the close of the 2nd.

Hard to maintain effort in such a situation.

I rarely agree with your takes.

Anyone who has actually watched this team this year knows that up until yesterday, the problem has been dealing with scrambling QBs. Until Barkley, it wasn't RBs running wild on us.

But again, I watch the games.
