Wasn't the Giants best player, or close to it. However he was good, let's leave it at that, and oft injured. They wanted to re-sign back him back in 2022 and he kept rejecting the offers.
Schoen is a clown. He bickered over a reported $1M to retain Barkley on a nice deal last year that would have kept him for his remaining good years and resigned Jones to a ridiculous contract coming off a 15 TD pass season. Rookie GM making rookie GM mistakes. Everyone talks about what a great scout he is. Maybe he should go back to being a scout.
Says we have a guy at LT in Ezeudu shouldn’t be there. And a first round pick riding the pine? Insain! So if a hall of fame coach is echoing the fan base, doesn’t say much about the people working for the Giants’ organization!
Also dropped another interesting tidbit - said he didn’t think Daboll wanted to get rid of Saquon, and that the entire league knew Saquon was going to Philly.
Hearing BB take jabs at Schoen, I have realized that Schoen might be in trouble
The entire league is mocking Schoen over how he handled Saquon and Jones. He is in over his skis. If he does fire Daboll, I’m not sure there will be many Hc candidates that want to work with him. Saquon is respected around the league I bet this left a bad taste for a lot of player, agents, and opposing coaches. Not the fact that they let him go, but how it went down, and how it was aired out for the entire world to see.
Hard Knocks is aging very poorly. Tbh I would not be surprised if Schoen is a goner if things keep unraveling.

Like my previous post, agree 100%
You could have kept Barkley and Xavier McKinney for what they paid Jones?! Keep the core, that's how you build a team. And Barkley was hands down the best offensive player in the Giants imo.

pitching for his return to the NFL. Brilliant football mind and he appears to be trolling for a job.
When he analyzes plays he is great. Take digs at whomever is bad ju-ju.
but this is getting ridiculous. BB is enjoying sitting back and critiquing the league, like other former and would be GMs on ESPN. Unlike Riddick and Tannenbaum, BB actually is entertaining and has a track record to make his comments worth hearing. But any RB with a lousy OL is not going to be good. Even with the over-hyped "fix" of the Giants OL this year, they are still below average at blocking for the run. Blame the Giants for a lot but keeping Barkley was not going to fix this team.
Who does not immediately mention Jones, Lock, DeVito as the central issue with this team is just concern trolling and passively contributing to us Giants fans be subjected to more Jones gruel.
Belichick holds his tongue on Jones here, a guy who just set a record for most consecutive games since 1970 without a home TD.
If Bill wants the Giants job....he needs to walk a fine line
He's cool on the Manning cast. But those comments from PatM's show makes Bill look like an uninformed ass. That's the kind of deep analysis we see on "X" or on every third post on this site. Bill's off the cuff comments may give some insight into his last couple years at NE.
Was a great coach when he had Brady. His drafts were nothing better than mediocre. A lot of veterans wanted to play with Brady and get a ring. The fact that Brady took a lower salary (probably as a result of the scummy trainer deal he had with the team) certainly helped them maintain a quality roster. What BB left the Patriots with is pretty pathetic.
Daboll may have wanted Barkley and not Jones, and BB may be underscoring to Mara and Schoen that he was right. It would also make sense if Schoen was behind playing Ezeudu ahead of Neal.
I also think BB has to criticize the Giants if asked about them because how to you have any credibility if you don't? You can't argue the team is anything other than a rudderless disaster and have any credibility.
but that was pretty lazy. If he's talking about the game on Sunday it was accurate. But the Giants OL for the first 6 games was good enough to have way more points scored than Daniel Jones put on the board.
Now with Andrew Thomas out again for the year JMS and GVR are both going to get exposed. They are both well below average and with the asinine decision to play Ezeudu at LT they're not going to get the help they were getting with Thomas able to handle his island.
The OL is about to fall apart again and Daboll and Schoen should both be fired for not having a better plan at backup LT than Ezeudu who can't play at all and probably can't play any OL position at an average NFL level.

None of us knows what's going on behind the scenes but why would/should a GM have a say on who should be in the lineup? Now he may have some input but you have to let the HC make those calls. JS would definitely be out of his lane

Andrew Thomas.

Good on Barkley, bad on the front office, but not a clueless decision. We constantly clamor for this team to be data and analytics driven.

At this point, Bill would be the only GM, in my opinion, that keeps the Giants House from sliding down the canyon into the ocean.
Quote:
Won’t be coming here, at least while Schoen is here.
if it is a choice between Schoen and Little Bill, Mara will help Schoen pack his office.
Yeah, he did a real bangup job as Patriots GM, didn't he?
Enjoy TV life Bill.
BB placed a very deliberate dagger into Schoen here with some very calculated digs aimed at Maras ears
The clock just started ticking on the end of Schoen tenure here
At the most.
Was thinking the same thing. He's hoping Mara reads this stuff and calls him and says, "You think you can do better? Here! The job is yours!!"
