You can’t write the history of the NFL without mentioning Eli more than once.

They are going to "Strahan" him and not give him the "prestige" of the first ballot. It's annoying but there is a ton of anti-Eli sentiment out there, some of it warranted and some of it not.

Eli can mention his leadership skills as he shows Tiki the rings he missed out on.

The Giants should have their celebratory half-time ceremony during an Eagles or Cowboys game where the loss is inevitable anyway. No sense wasting an obligatory half-time ceremony game loss on a team they have an improbable, but statistically possible chance of beating.

Mike, I couldn't agree more. How in God's name wasn't Strahan a first ballot HOFer?

He better make it! Two time Super Bowl Champ, Two time MVP against the supposedly GOAT?! I always think, what if Eli was in the same position Brady was with Patriots? How good could he have been? Yeah he is a true HOF in my book.

This issue is that this year may be his best chance in the next few years. Brees (2026), Rivers (2026), Big Ben (2027), and Brady (2028) all become eligible in the next 3 years. Voters will compare them to Eli when voting and Eli could lose a bunch of those comparison. They aren't prevented from voting for both, but the comparisons will hurt Eli. If Eli does not get in this year, I could see him not getting in till 2029.

I'm with you. I am concerned that voters won't want to put Eli in on 1st ballot and then it will become more difficult for him over next few years as these other QB's become eligible, and he somehow gets squeezed out.

A lot of the voters like him personnally and professionally. Its not the TV people voting. Its the peter kings and pat kirwins that have HOF votes.

The best explanation I have is that, if I remember correctly, during his first year of eligibility there was an insanely stacked class of guys up for induction. But that still doesn't excuse it to me. Single season sack leader, who at the time was near the top in all time sacks, SB champ, and played the run extremely well (unlike some other pass rushers).

fair enough, but my point is that those who are saying it's no big deal if he doesn't get in Year 1 may be understating how much more difficult it will be for Eli to get in in the years that Brees, Roethlisberger and Brady are also up for HOF.
