Burns effectiveness since Thibodeaux to IR

NYGCO : 10/23/2024 6:14 pm
I thought I heard during a game that Burns has switched side since Thibodeaux went to IR. That he is attacking mostly from the right side now (right side from the defense, so against the left offensive tackle). And since that switch, he has been so much more effective getting to the QB. If I am wrong in the switch, I will delete my post. If not, I have not seen a discussion on it and could be an interesting topic once KT comes back to see if Burns stays on that side.
Yes, he did switch sides...

after KT's injury. Apparently the right side is where he regularly played in the past. It was mentioned on the Sunday Night game broadcast.
Almost every time I looked, Burns was on the right side against the LT

And Thibs was on the left. But maybe I am wrong because I don’t get to see a lot of games. Burns commented in training camp that he wants to pass rush on every play and does not like to drop in coverage. I interpreted that to mean he is happier if he doesn’t play on the TE side.

Thanks for confirming. I know there is more than just stats, but he has looked good on that side.
He did rush the LT

In the past two games but I believe against Cincinnati he was playing a rookie at LT, so you kind of have to take that into consideration.

He plays both sides and made plays on both sides. He's been a great addition.
One thing that is

Slightly overlooked is the secondary has been improving week to week. Particularly drew Phillips and even flott. Phillips was really good guarding d smith last week and is a plus run defender. Flott has improved and Nubian - while not making splash plays is steady and generally in the right spot. Bowen has honed in on what he has to work with and the back end is playing as a unit.

That extra half a second or so def makes a difference. Cpl of the sacks were hustle plays.

I wasn't overjoyed with the burns signing but he is a relentless player and a leader.
