New week, new CFB QB discussion:

Everyone Relax : 10/28/2024 1:35 pm
As we all know there's no definitive #1 QB. It seems like the wish list for the Giants should consist of Cam Ward, Milroe, Nuss, and Sanders. Throw in Ewers if you must.

The question mark with Sanders is going to be "can he handle NYC." Blah blah blah. At this point I don't give af. If his biggest problem is that he's too confident and cocky so be it. I will happily watch him flash his diamond studded Patek in the face of Philly fans for the next 15 years.

I prefer him slightly over Ward right now, solely because when I watch Ward he has infinite time to make plays. Not his fault, just the reality of the situation. Sanders has an awful OL and is tough as nails.

That being said give me any of them, PLEASE!

if there are 4-5

that are all in the conversation and not a clear order, I like the Giants' chances of getting a good starter. But I'm naive and optimistic about things in general ;)
Ward is still my QB1, but I'm warming up more and more to the idea

of a bridge QB in 2025. Jameis or Stafford.

Sanders currently #1 for me. IMO we make the playoffs next year with him at the helm.

Nuss is my #2.

Obviously could change as the scouting reports start coming out this offseason.
Alot of QB-needy teams currently picking ahead of us
Gap92 : 10/28/2024 2:38 pm : link
According to Tankathon.

Carolina
Tennessee
New England
NY Jets
Jacksonville
New Orleans
Las Vegas
Cleveland
Miami
NY Giants

Records will change. But I don't see where some of these teams get another W. Of course, I don't see where we get another W either. But we'll probably win some late in the season as per usual. A trade up to a NE or JAX may be needed to get our guy.

There's hope for us. Now that Cle has upgraded from "terrible" to just "mediocre" QBing, they'll win 6-7 games. Tua is back so Miami will be in the 7 win range. Drake Maye has been frisky since he was inserted into the starting lineup, if he is not too injured NE will win 4 or so more games. AP always has the Raiders playing hard, so there is hope there.

Ten, NO (as long as they are without a QB) and obviously Car are who we are competing with

Only teams on that list that I feel like will actually end the year worse than the Giants are Carolina and maybe Vegas?

That's only four. Who is 5th? Ward?

Dart, Beck (whether you like to or not), Allar, and perhaps even Clubnik and others to the mix (but NOT the sub-six foot Gabriel!). I feel we'll have a decent selection to choose from, and there's still lots of season to play out. I'm guessing we'll be selecting in the 5 - 7 range again. I'm fully expecting Dabes to pick up meaningless W's when the season's effectively over, and there's no pressure and nothing else to play for, unfortunately.
not sanders

you really want to deal with Dion - another daddy "Ball" situation?

Klubnik is starting to show why he was a 5 star recruit. But the first 2 years whenever there was pressure he would immediately spring all the way to the right sideline and more often than not do something stupid. I'm afraid that in the NFL he'll start his first 2 year that same way he started his first 2 years in the NCAA.
Keep playing Jones

I'm with some of you guys. I have Sanders on top of my QB board now, even if I was extremely skeptical before the season started. I just don't think he'd work here, for a bunch of reasons. But I feel we'll still be in a good spot with the others. I have Ward at QB2, though I've cooled off somewhat of late. I think those are the first two QB's off the board, so we'll be picking from the best of the rest. I'm seriously up in the air as to QB3 right now. I'll just enjoy the rest of the season, college and pro, and let the chips fall where they may. I'm just hoping and praying our scouting department is doing everything they can, and leaving no stone unturned.
Sanders looks
Everyone Relax : 10/28/2024 3:44 pm : link
the most polished to me. He's a quick processor, while he's decently athletic running is always option C for him, and his arm is above average and accurate. He's also dealt with some serious adversity already and never quit. I'll let the experts dig into his mental make-up more but the more I watch the more I like him. Just keep old-man Mara out of the room when evaluating.

Absolutely this!!
They all have some warts on them.
BigBlueBuff : 10/28/2024 5:54 pm : link
I like Sanders the best followed by Nussmeier, only because Sanders seems unflappable and makes all of the throws and Nussmeier just seems very polished at this point. I'm not really sold on Cam Ward because of his propensity to drift backwards when facing pressure and his high interception totals. He is an excellent college quarterback but are the two weaknesses coachable or potentially fatal to an NFL career? I leave that up to those who are paid to make these decisions.

It's just not a great class, but I think the Giants have to take one and be willing to take another next year if the guy they grab doesn't show potential in year one to be able to lift a team.
Shedeur tweaked his leg on Saturday in their win against Cincy..
BurberryManning : 10/28/2024 6:31 pm : link
It looked like it might've been a knee or ankle and he mentioned that he's a bit banged up. He also claims to have had the flu this past week. Thankfully the Buffs are headed into a bye week.

Who the fans want, Who the Giants want and who the Giants would prefer will vary depending on whom the coach is.
I honestly dgaf who they draft

like Milroe... I think he has a lot more to give. I just hope we take at least one QB this year. Still upsetting we didn't take Joe Milton last year.
