We know that Mike G has a close line within the organization, so is this their selling point for year 7 or something? I can't comprehend how this is real; hope it's just a speculative tweet.

If there’s a positive for the #Giants and Daniel Jones, it’s that he showed some emotion last night I know they’ve been waiting to see from him. Brian Daboll: “I loved it. I loved seeing his competitiveness. … It’s good for him to do that.”
Gives us his usual 1/3 terrible games, 1/3 mediocre games when he has plausible deniability for losing, and 1/3 good games, this time with yelling. Can't wait.
Oh for Chissakes. He said something positive so he is an idiot.(?)
There are time when things should be ignored. This is one.
My question here: Is Mike G referencing Daboll's comments, or have FO people communicated how pleased they are with his emotion and he's hinting at it here? the latter would be very alarming.
think all of this is just talk. Daboll has to find something "good" to say about Jones to try and desperately justify why he should remain the starter. Previously it was that Jones is a good teammate, a hard worker, and tough. Now it's that he's "fiery."
It sucks and it's stupid that they won't bench Jones, especially since he could get hurt and trigger his $23M injury guarantee, but he's gone after this season.
Talk about setting the bar low, ooooh, St Daniel got fiery! Wow, let's sign him to another extension!
Sure, he can forget to move the TE to help with TJ Watt, he can throw an awful pass off his back foot (with limited pressure), over his WR's head for a pick, but he showed fire! Give him $60M a year! You can't let that kind of fire out of the building!
something that we have all said was missing and somehow you think this has weight on 2025... okie dokie
Here's the issue though. Garafolo doesn't say it's what Daboll wants to see in Jones, it's what "they" want to see, and we know that Mike G has inside sources. Maybe the word 'they' was purely referring to the coaching staff/players, but you can't discount the possibility that it refers to ownership/management given Mike's background.
He is (badly at times) playing a public role that he needs to play.
People can shit on Daboll, but the guy is an accomplished, experienced offensive coach. He knows exactly what is happening on offense and with the QB.
If Daboll has one regret, I'm sure that it was designing the 2022 offense to accommodate Daniel's massive limitations. He did a great job of coaching that season, and it's ultimately going to lead to him losing his job.
And that “Fiery” emotion got Jones so fired up that he proceeded to fumble the ball on a sack where he forgot to get the TE in motion to the other side and then a horrific overthrow on the interception.
I don’t want to see Jones fired up at this point. It’s too late for that. Especially when the only way to get him “Fiery” is when it’s someone else’s fault. Whenever he screws up there’s no fire, just the sad sight of walking depression…

Check out Daboll's offenses throughout his storied career. Most of them have been pretty bad.

Clarify your point. Are you saying that Brian Daboll is so dumb, incompetent, and oblivious that he thinks that Daniel Jones is a good QB?

My point is, I'm not sure the guy knows how to run a good offense.
but when we are benching last years first round pick at a position of great need i guess we are already past embarrassing.
Yup.
Giants are making themselves (well they might be already) the modern joke of the NFL. We all laughed at Jerrah back in late 90s and Snyder for 2 decades - but this Giants episode of 2013-2024 is just as bad, and statistically worse.
I doubt it. All evidence suggests that this organization simply resents the fans for criticizing Jones and believes they know better.
Around this same time last year, Ralph V put out a tweet basically previewing Jones's return, saying that the organization had 'failed' him by not putting together a good enough supporting cast. He got massive backlash but it didn't change a thing. The Giants only want to feed us the Jones slop no matter what we say.
back in nearly 90s when they were really bad. Cant remeeber the batter, maybe Wayne Tolleson, but his BA was at the Mendoza line and they put up some stupid stat like he was 4/11 in his last 3 games to make us think it was encouraging.

I disagree. It's done. I think you can take the DJFC as a proxy for where Mara's head is. He is basically your median member of the club. He's always said the exact same things as they do. Even last year and coming into this year the club was alive and talking "make or break year" etc. Now even it's most dedicated members have disappeared or handed in their cards.
Mara himself declined to offer support for Jones when he made his comments last week. This season was wasted to prove a point. The point has been proven.
If we keep JS/BD, they're getting a QB. If we start over, we're staring over at QB.

3rd and 2nd in his last 2 years in Buffalo. Where else in the NFL has he been OC?
See, it took 6 seasons to see some fire from Jones

That's an interesting take re: 2022. In retrospect I bet Daboll does feel that way. They were never going to fire him after his first season, so he really should have forced Jones to play in a passing offense that Daboll prefers just to underline Jones' shortcomings. It would have saved this franchise a whole lot of grief.
"The value at QB just wasn't there when we picked and we really liked the growth we saw from Daniel in the 2nd half of the season, his 2nd year with Malik is promising"

Ordinarily, I would agree with you, but I completely burned myself last year when I was sure they were done after the Eisen report and them scouting QBs heavily.
Again, we're getting signal that they're planning on moving on, but we get this ridiculous insider tweet from Mike G that basically implies the org is encourage by his 'fire'; I have not seen evidence that the people in that building are anything but rabidly supportive of him even moreso than the DJFC (I'd say the pro-Jones people on here have very much cooled off this season).
So while the Mara non-response was encouraging last week, I remain skeptical.
If the Giants roll into 2025 with Jones, they’re not a serious organization and aren’t even bothering trying to win.
I think they really like Jones and resent the media and fans for being critical, and would keep Jones even if it meant zero fans showed up to Metlife.
I actually think that if Schoen stays on, it's the most likely scenario for Jones departing (see Hard Knocks "year of Daniel"). If they bring in a new GM, however, they'll screen for someone who will promise to keep him around one more year.
My gut still tells me Schoen and Daboll were given a mulligan by Mara
but it was at least defensible that an improved OL and WR1 would cause an uptick in DJ's play. Sure, the guy's inside the building need to know what's what, but it's defensible.
Now, there is no defense for running it back again. He's got enough to produce this year and he isn't getting it done.
year 6? Not so much...
Oh for Chissakes. He said something positive so he is an idiot.(?)

If he does actually come back for a 7th season, then it's time to truly give up

Fiery Daniel Jones still sucks but with more emotion .

Not when they can cut him and save $20 million
God, our guys suck at this.
Wish the Giants were pleased by "winning" efforts instead.

GT, spot on about '24. '23...I think Dabs convinced himself-wrongly-that he could make Jones reach another level.
Same thing can be applied to this season. I think there is a decent chance Jones is back for his 7th season.
