I just started following him the other day because he's at camp. clearly he knows not what he's doing.
I'm trying to assign the BBI Curse to him instead of Eli though.... since you know, he cluelessly talked trash about it.
bigblueviator: @alexraskinNYC @rvacchianonydn its an annual thing at camp. carries a curse with it. now may Raskin be cursed from now on 4 the trash talk
that if he's going to cover the Giants, making fun of a large contingent of their fans probably isn't the smartest business model. I mean, to a thinking person that would be self evident, but the world needs Alex Raskins.............for some reason.
and it displays a complete lack of thinking...Twitter is dangerous because it allows people to spew forth nonsense with little barrier of time to contemplate thier words. Who is this idiot anyway? Never heard of him before today.
Alex Raskin @alexraskinNYC
@MP_Trey Wow, wasn't trying to dismiss the BBI crowd at all. Just thought it was a long time to wait to present a 2011 award.
should have done his research on who/what BBI is and that this award has been given for several years now and it's always happened at camp. He knows now.
i did tweet him to tell him that it was an annual award ceremony that carried a curse. figured if there was any way to transfer that curse to him instead of Eli -- that would be the best way for him to help the team.
but like Moondwg said he's "supposed" to be a journalist.
So instead of trying to be the first to twit(tweet, twat)somenting maybe he should ask what the trophy is for and what the deal is. You know, gather some freakin' facts before you wow the world with your wit?
BigBlueInteract: @alexraskinNYC No worries, Alex. We present it during camp because it provides the most logical central meeting point for BBIers nationwide.
His point is why present a 2011 award at 2012 training camp...
I just don't think it takes a genius to figure out that fans don't have access to players except for at camp. So either a) he didn't know what BBI was or b) just didn't take 2 seconds to think about his own question.
Crime against humanity? No. Display of a bit of stupidity? You betcha.
Just tweeted him as well & told him to check before making
an instantaneous response. I told him this has been a tradition for some years now! As was said,if you're covering the Giants, get some info on the best online Giants site & what they do before you make an asinine comment!
the Giants finished playing in February. Was BBI supposed to bump the mayor and hand it to them at City Hall? Absolutely fucking stupid, and these fans go to camp and do this every year and this shit is new to the beat. What a fucking moron.
*Calendar Year Printed On Trophy May Not Reflect Actual Calendar Year Of Trophy Presentation Award Ceremony. Other Restrictions May Also Apply. See Eric For Details.
Twitter really is a dangerous tool for those that don't think before they tweet. Attacking or making a "whitty" comment about the fan base of the team you cover could really damage your image and following amongst your target audience.
But I think we should go easy so the Giants organization doesn't take away any of our access to the players based on irrational behavior to some idiot press member. Just saying.
He hears about an award and tries to smart-ass it. Then he tries to be all like... aww, just sayn' guyz. A douche move no matter what or who the award was for. Why poo-poo someones award.

Yea, it wasn't the greatest comment, but I don't think the impression we necessarily want to give the new guy is that Giants fans are an easily butthurt group that will lash out at any slight, right? Maybe flooding his Twitter isn't the smartest thing? He already responded to the BBI account saying that our reasoning for presenting the trophy when we do makes sense.
Just had to get that off my chest. I didn't think it was that bad at first, but the more I thought about it I think it was a pretty shitty thing to say.
The guy is a FUCKING DUMB ASS. What other fucking time could the fans present a player a trophy?
Why do the Giants have such sucky "beat reporters"/media coverage. There are a couple of good ones and that's it. Maybe they suck for other teams as well.
I must have missed the memo when BBI turned into 4chan
I think we have some pretty damn good beat guys. Garafolo is one of the best local beat reporters in the business. It won't be long before he has a national gig. Ohm, Tom Rock, Stapleton...all are solid.
You basically have Ralph, the BBI whipping boy and...a new guy who 1) 90% of you hadn't heard of before 15 minutes ago and 2) made one lil quip? That constitutes bad beat writers?
Was thinking the same thing. Considering some of the reactions of some towards Vick and his comments about his own team (not calling out BBI, the Giants or it's fans) compared to someone who just tried to clown a site full of Giants fans...well, I guess it's a matter of perspective...or something...
When would a fan given award be given to a player, if not training camp?
Anyways, seems like he was making a smart ass comment. Kind of came off as "Raplh-ish." I see no problem with BBI wanting to nip this one in the bud before we are stuck with two Ralphs. Well done, folks.
The reason for the timing of the award (next year's traning camp)- that BBI understands the immediate post Superbowl excitement (and how the players are exhausted physically [and mentally after being hounded by the media for two weeks]) ...
Players just want to unwind, go to Disney World/Land and relax.
to be so dumb and talk like this, but after what this scumbag did and had to go through for his own actions, to be given another opportunity and a $100 million dollar contact to boot and spout this arrogance is unbelievable. No display of humility or being humble whatsoever. It just proves that he didn't learn a single thing and is still an entitled, spoiled asshole.
The newbie beat reporter took a jab at something he didn't think was all that important and is suffering the consequences. Does anyone really think he thought the timing of the award was off, or is it orders of magnitude more likely he thought the award wasn't that important because it came from a fan site and was taking a jab?
This is why it's 1) always a good idea to keep your mouth shut until you really know what you're talking about 2) don't play on Twitter if you're not ready for the intended outcome (reaction).
Maybe Raskin should have a chat with Bob or Mike or Pat -- or maybe the Jacobs family, real friends of BBI and real friends of Hope, and get that this means something to the team and fans.
Some minimum wage beat writer insulted the glass dildo the folks at camp gave away, and the rest of BBI is scrambling for pitchforks and trying to figure out how to spell "indignant"? That about right?
Garafolo is great. There's a couple of others that are OK. The rest suck and there is no good radio coverage of the Giants. The radio clowns either don't talk football, talk about the Jets all the time, or talk about teams from other NFL cities. The only reason why the Giants got a little more "pub" on the radio in the last year is because of Eli's comment and the run to the superbowl.
He made a remark implying that BBI should have somehow had a trophy presentation sometime after the SB, but before training camp. Don't know how he expects BBI to have a trophy presentation with Eli in the *offseason,* but he assumed it was possible, I suppose.
The T.I. yelling at us - "OK, don't want nobody shittin' in their pants, go use the Honey Bucket (portable latrine), younder"
Then there was - "lite if you got 'em" (what ?) It was the cigarette break (I've never smoked). Now he's yelling at me again - "If you ain't got 'em, clear out, else I'm gonna make you "police" (means clean-up) the whole area !
it's embarrassing. Why would anyone on BBI
a)Notice such an inane comment from some nobody at Giant camp's twitter, and b)Get offended by that? Delete this thread. It makes us all look like oversensitive jerks living in our mothers' basements.
in fact, I don't see what separates this thread from any one of a hundred other ones. The tone in is this thread is typical of this site. As I said before, a person being called out for saying something stupid happens multiple times every day here. How is this in any way different? How is it different than any one of the several Vick threads? This guy said a stupid thing, and he was called out for it. Just another day at the office. If anyone's oversenitive, it's the people worried about being "embarrassed". That's weak sauce.
Not sure why he doesn't see this as being the most feasible time for a bunch of fans to present a player with the trophy.

Taking a lot of flack on BBI, but none better than BigBlueinSoFL who suggested "cook his parents in2 some chili & trick him into eating it"
Alan Raskin, meet BBI.

DIck.
All GIANTS fans should boycott his "coverage"

Annoying Customer
He made a stupid comment and got his balls busted a little bit via the Internet. Boo hoo. Welcome to BBI and the rest of the Internet.
That douche bastard!
Players just want to unwind, go to Disney World/Land and relax.
Get my drift, Mr. Raskin ?
Which thread was that supposed to be in?
Thanks!

Try saying something clever, next time, Mr. Raskin.

nuff said!
Not having heard him, his "check the calendar" quote sounds like dismissive swipe at Giants fans, who if they had a brain "would know better".
Or maybe he's just using the "I'll kick the 'honey bucket' over, right-away trick" to get our attention !
Good times.
