What player is more clutch in your opinion. Eli or Steve Young? Unreal the hatred against Eli and the Giants. NFL network has Young rated at 5th all time, Eli not in the top 10. I should have known better to watch this garbage. But since I am pissed, I might as well pass it on. LOL!

Young also had the advantage of playing in a weak NFC where only the Cowboys were really any good - the old 80s powers had gotten too old (Giants, Skins, Bears, Vikings) and the Packers hadn't quite put it together yet.
Also, it wasn't until the mid-late 90s where teams started scheming against the West Coast Offense, so Young had a scheme advantage.
Finally, that title Steve Young won deserves an asterisk, because the 49ers were caught cheating the salary cap that year. If we want to call the Patriots cheaters, that team cheated too.
To be honest - IMO Steve Young is one of the more overrated players in NFL History.
2-Eli
3-Staubach
4-Brady
5-Montana
6-Unitas
Eli's clutch performance hasn't been there this year but over his career he has been incredible. 2011 is the single clutchest season for an NFL QB ever.
Also Eli has had receivers every bit as talented as what Young had.
Eli hasn't had HOFers... But he's always had a core of very good wides to work with.
Plax, Toomer, Shockey, Nicks, Mario, Smith,Randle, Cruz.
Young had Rice, and TO.
Give me that group over the course of my career anytime over 2 guys even if they are HOFers.
If not - certainly he's far more clutch than Steve Young was.
So I wasn't giving Eli the second spot per se
Hell, you could make an argument for Marino not being on the list. Great QB, no doubt, but was he really an especially clutch QB? Moreso than Peyton, who's not even on the list either?
He could spread the ball around the field short/intermediate/deep and could run.
Eli played in the parity era where defenses couldn't hit. Young played in an era of #1/2 NFC seed won it all and defenses kept the hall of fame rice in relative check. You needed a premier RB back then to go far in playoffs.
Young was a regular season monster who was consistent from his second year starting to the very end.
Eli being so inconsistent makes it hard to take him seriously despite some great postseason runs.
I doubt he could have won more SBs than young if he played in sf in the '90s. Probably not even one. The patriots had nothing on those juggernaut cowboy/packer teams.
And that salary cap infraction year was '98 not '94. And is it cheating if you have nothing to show for it? (super bowls)
Young
Warner
Simms
Maybe only aikman gives him his due
Eli's the guy I want in the playoffs...but there are plenty of other QB's I would rather have during the regular season.
The one thing with Eli...he has the perfect temperament to play in NY. Kinda wonder if it is getting to him this year?
Unites
Montana
Eli
Brady
Elway
TO is going to get in, he's not a "close to HOF" wr.
