Q: As a running back, a very physical position—going against another team, how does that help you being in full pads?

A: It helps a lot because there’s a lot of things you have to work on. Going against the same guys over and over each day, it gets mundane after a while. To be able to switch it up and go against somebody that you haven’t seen throughout camp or OTAs, it really helps you hone in on your abilities, I guess.

Q: I've got to imagine as a running back that runs patterns and pass protecting, going up against a defense that runs things and does things differently has got to help you mentally, right?

A: Yeah, absolutely. You've got to come in with the right mentality. The mentality [of] be aggressive—it’s a physical game. Prepare yourself and just compete.

Q: What kind of things do you look for in the opening preseason game?

A: Just get the jitters out and just get back to try and feel as comfortable as possible playing football, and just getting back in the swing of things.

Q: You still get jitters?

A: Not as much as I used to, but they’re always there. I always get some butterflies.

Q: Are you getting more and more comfortable in the offense? Do you like the offense, what are your thoughts?

A: Yeah, I’m getting more comfortable as the days go by and I just keep hearing the same things over and over, it becomes a lot more easy to understand my role and what my job is supposed to be.

Q: What do you remember most about your first preseason game? Is there something that really sticks out?

A: It’s the first time you’re really putting the pads on out there on an NFL field. It’s a special feeling. You’re nervous as all heck and you just want to make a good impression. As a rookie, I would say just do exactly that. Do your best, if you mess up, mess up at 110 percent.
