WR Rueben Randle
Conference Call, September 4, 2015
Q: Rueben, how are you physically at this point and do you think the offense is ready to start the season?
A: Iím getting back to my normal self. Iím still trying to work out a little bit of the kinks with it (knee tendinitis), still gets a little sore, but itís manageable and I think everything will be fine. I think everyone is excited to play a real game where it really counts.
Q: Where do you see the offense now compared to this point last year?
A: I think a lot more aggressive since everyone understands the offense and the looks that we need to check into certain plays. I think thatís something that we like to see but we have to start connecting more on some of the plays. The execution will come as long as we continue to get reps but the aggression that we have is far beyond last year and thatís something we like to see as receivers.
Q: Does it open the door for you guys to do more in regards to different plays and different formations?
A: Yeah, it definitely does. It opens the door for a lot of things since everyone kind of has a pretty good understanding of what the offense is and what we want to do once we see certain types of defenses, so that should help us out in the long haul. As long as we continue to build and build that chemistry where we all are on the same page, it should be exciting.
Q: You talk about everyone being on the same page, Iím sure youíre excited about you all being on the field together with you, Odell [Beckham Jr.], and Victor [Cruz].
A: The time is going to come, itís a long season, just want to make sure weíre all healthy, and once we all get there, itís going to be on us to make some plays. I think all of us are excited to get on that field with each other and see what we can make happen.
Q: Do you think that time is coming this week? Do you think you guys will be ready for the opener?
A: I hope so, but Iím not sure. Iím not sure how this week is going to go, but Iím hoping everyone will be able to return and we have all of our weapons out there on the field to come out and try and get a victory.
Q: Whatís it like when you hear that a guy like Steve Weatherford has been cut?
A: Thatís very unfortunate. I donít think anyone really likes that part of it, but we all accept and know itís coming, but a guy like Steve, thatís a great leader, a great mentor for a lot of people that come into this organization, thatís a very unfortunate situation for us. I think weíre all just wishing him the best of luck with whatever he moves on to.
Q: What can you tell us about Brad Wing? You played with him at LSU?
A: Yeah, I did, I played with him there. Heís a great guy, as well, very strong leg, very good at placing the ball where he wants toÖ
Q: Do you think itíll take you, Beckham, and Cruz a little while to feel each other out and figure out whoís going to play what roles?
A: No, we all understand the roles, and I think weíre all capable of moving around wherever the coaches want us to be, anyway. We all have a pretty good grasp of the offense. I donít think itíll take that long for us to get a feel for what we have to do and what we have to get done.
