LB Devon Kennard

October 7, 2015

Q: How concerning is the hamstring theyíre listing you with today?

A: Itís day to day. Iíve probably iced it 100 times since our last game, and Iím just trying to get it right and doing whatever the trainers tell me, and hopefully Iíll be back soon.

Q: Last game? So it was hurt prior to going into Buffalo?

A: No, Iím talking about after the Buffalo game.

Q: Are you hopeful for this weekend?

A: Iím hopeful just because I want to be out there with my team. I love the way that weíre playing, I love what we have going on, and if thereís any way possible I can play on Sunday, I will. Iím going to be listening to the trainers and seeing how it feels every day.

Q: You know a hamstring is kind of iffy, theyíre not going to push it.

A: Weíre taking it day by day and whatever the trainers tell me is best and seeing how it feels and what I can do on it.

Q: Youíve had hamstrings before if Iím not mistaken, have you learned how to deal with it, but do you have ways you can expedite it this time?

A: Hopefully. I did deal with one last year and so I kind of know the protocol and stuff and Iím going to be doing everything I can. Like I said, Iíve been icing non-stop, elevating it, and trying everything I can to help the recovery process so I can get back out there with my guys.

Q: Do you remember how long that one kept you out?

A: Three weeks, maybe, I donít remember.

Q: Do you think this is worse or better?

A: Iím not sure. Itís hard to say either way but all I know is Iím going to do everything I can to get back as soon as I can.

Q: Is it tough for you as a teammate to see the stuff the Bills said about Odell [Beckham Jr.]?

A: I donít even know what they said.

Q: They said he threw a bunch of punches in the games and they called him a prima donna.

A: They said who did?

Q: Odell, they said Odell threw some punches.

A: I donít even listen or worry about any of that. Itís the first of me hearing it. Odell is a teammate and a great player. It is what it is.

Q: When you look at the 49ers, what type of unique challenges, this is the second week in a row youíre facing a scrambling quarterback. How is [Colin] Kaepernick different from [Tyrod] Taylor?

A: Theyíre both good scrambling quarterbacks and Kaepernick can beat you with his legs. Heís very athletic and can do a lot of different things and they have a really good running back. Carlos Hyde is a really good back and he really knows how to cut, get vertical, and has great vision. We have our hands full.
Good lord - nobody asked whether he had an MRI, or what it showed?

Too busy trying to get a juicy quote about Beckham. Pffft.
He wouldn't answer it anyway
BlackLight : 10/7/2015 3:46 pm : link

he is not playing this weekend epecially after missing both practices this week. Now with him gone along with our DL injuries. San Fran running game with Hyde may cause more problems
Sounds like it's more than day to day

I'd be surprised if he's ready to go Sunday, and I'm happy to hear him say that it's up to the trainers and not to him as to whether he plays.
I like how, when your job consists of words

you can't figure out what "the last game" means.

I noticed that, too. Combine that with not being bright enough to ask the player how his his MRI went the previous day...

Pretty unreal that these guys get paid to ask important questions, but can't seem to do it..
"i'm not sure. It's hard to say..."

Could be more than a week, this is going to be a veryfrustrating injury.
I just hope the training staff
Jay on the Island : 10/7/2015 4:18 pm : link
handles his injury properly and he doesn't suffer setbacks like we have seen with Cruz, Berhe, etc.
It doesn't sound like he's playing this week

Questionable for the Eagles
Probably for Cowboys
Sounds more like a month to me

Since it's the Giants take the worst case scenario and then double it.
Is there any decent player on this

team who doesn't miss time with an injury???
ELI

TThe most important one, Eli Manning
I was going to say except Eli

because I knew someone would point to that. Its the other 18 good players who no longer have a career, had their career shortened by injuries, have been out for extended periods or are just chronically injured that I was referring to.

It is frustrating. But you have to like our chances this week with San Frsn nevertheless. Maybe we get Kennard and Ayers back next week.

Somehow have to find a receiver threat to take pressure off of OBJ. Otherwise Eli is going to have to force some passes his way until Cruz is ready.

Our starting quarterback. Did you think at all before asking that question? Hankins is another one.

Its football. People get hurt. Life's tough. I'm really sorry.
Top ten healthiest Giants, by consecutive regular season games:
Big Blue Blogger : 10/8/2015 5:55 am : link
Eli Manning 171 (+11 playoff games)
Zak DeOssie 132 (+9 playoff games)
Rueben Randle 52 (He might be gimpy, but he shows up.)
Larry Donnell 36
Josh Brown 36
Damontre Moore 35
Johnathan Hankins 31
Andre Williams 20
Weston Richburg 20
John Jerry 20

Mark Herzlich has only missed one game since his rookie year. Ryan Nassib dresses every week, but seldom plays.
