stop being a fucking dick. Shit like this is why we have run off the asshats. Kehl, in the two threads he's been on, has provided much more wealth of info than you have in your entire time on this board.
You said that Spags was trash as a HC. Can you expand on this? Do you see him as a life long coordinator? What is it about him that makes him trash as a HC?
I missed your responses on the first thread but coming on here to explain yourself is a stand up move. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and it’s hard for us as fans to truly understand the situation when we are on the outside looking in. Wish you health and happiness in your post playing career.
Thank you!! I mean that.

Why get bent out of shape over this?

A handful of players over the years have agreed that relating to the players was Coughlin's biggest (and perhaps only) shortcoming as a coach. Coughlin himself even acknowledged it and reinvented himself in the summer of 07.
There's 50+ players and a practice squad on every NFL roster, not to mention coaches, trainers, assistants. The list goes on and on. Styles aren't always going to mesh. This to me doesn't come off like sour grapes. He just doesn't like this aspect of Coughlin's coaching style. Maybe he should keep his mouth shut, but really, who cares that he didn't? He only brought up the one thing that has been brought up about Coughlin numerous times.
The only thing I take issue with is the use of the word "overrated." Coughlin's track record of success is on par with the perceptions he has, IMO. Definitely a dumb word to use there, but he said a lot of things in that statement. I'm not going to characterize the entire sentiment because on one foolish word.
Lol. Thanks man. I love all of you. Some of you I would love to demonstrate personally to whether or not I'm a "soft linebacker", but...they will never find out ;)
I didn't address his original OP because I doubted his voracity. I was wrong. Now I address his theory and I'm immature? I'm not the guy who is taking shots at the head coach who was part of the process that drafted him and gave him his first shot in the NFL. Does Mr. Kehl think Tom wanted him to play poorly? If you're loking for sour grapes I don't think I'm the one that has earned that distinction.
Got stiffed armed to the ground by a QB and talk like a superstar... You suck and no NFL linebacker should ever let that happen... Go Coughlin and every coach that released you from their team.
I didn't get involved in the other thread and I disagree with your take on Coughlin being overrated, but I do concede that from the outside it does appear that he is the type of boss most of us would not enjoy working for in our own occupations. It doesn't surprise me in the least that some of his players may not be the biggest fan of the guy personally. You probably have a lot of company among his former players, but I think your feelings about him personally have an impact on your perception of him as a coach. Curious as to why you are so down on Spags as a coach?

thanks for joining BBI and confirming it's you. Over the years we've speculated that we had on Tyrone Wheatley for a little while.
I'm curious about a couple of things during your Giants tenure-
- How much did Plaxico shooting himself distract the team/took the air out of them because up to that point, the Giants were the best team in the NFL in 2008 and after that had to sputter to the finish.
- And you mentioned about players messing with substances. There were rumblings that the Giants secondary (in particular) enjoyed weed a little too much. So much so that even O'Hara pretty much called them out about it in the press to act like professionals. Did you see that as well?
He was giving his honest opinion of what was going on in the locker room. We rarely get access like this to what's going on behind the scenes, I guess you prefer the pre-packaged responses along the lines of the Eli Manning variety.
what does a virginal ladies man do? Spend a lot of money on fruitless dates? One wonders.
Bryan you're too good for this place, run away.
I agree. Bryan, this place is full of assholes, who will talk shit about you one minute then act like you're their best friend when you appear like star struck bitches. You're too patient and generous in spending time engaging many of these bozos.
You might want to wait until an actual star posts here. He was a JAG during his career. My loyalty is to the head coach that actually contributed to bringing The Lombardi Trophy to NY...twice.
I'll readily grant that as a man that played in the NFL his football knowledge is superior and dwarfs anyone on BBI. Don't expect a warm welcome from me if you come to BBI with a target on TC. You're barking up the wrong tree.
RE: You guys want to to go all moon eyed and star fucker be my guest Â

You're pathetic. You acted like a fool on the other thread, calling people "the dumbest mother fuckers alive" for believing it was Kehl. Now it proven you were in fact the dumb one and you're going to call out BBI for interacting with a former Giant.
Talking about the positives...who were your favorite coaches, and teammates? Who were some underrated guys that you think might have had better careers if they played (besides yourself, of course!)?
I never worked for Coughlin, so clearly I don't have your insight, but I have worked for many people like Coughlin, arguably even harder men than Coughlin. I personally like his approach, but I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. I will admit I was pretty hard on you in the other thread, my take still stands. But it is great to see that you are doing well, and I think I speak for all fans when I say that we appreciate all the effort you gave for Big Blue, no matter how it turned out. I was excited when they drafted you, and am truly sorry things did not go differently. Best of luck, and it sounds like you should listen to the wife. Usually good advice for any man.
Lol. Thanks man. I love all of you. Some of you I would love to demonstrate personally to whether or not I'm a "soft linebacker", but...they will never find out ;)
Especially since I'm stuck in a meeting tonight and not watching The Niners-Hawks (til later).
I believe I wrote in a camp report that this new linebacker (might have been your rookie season) was one of the most fan-friendly guys who spent as much time or more than others signing after practice for fans and especially for kids.
Great having you aboard. Looking forward to candid insights.
It doesn't prove anything or make you look like a tough guy, quite the opposite. I think it's cool of him to post here and address this and offer insight even if it's subject to the same biases as every other human walking the planet.
I had doubts he was the real thing. I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest he look in the mirror for the answers as to why he didn't have a succesful interaction with Coughlin. It usually takes two for a relationship to sour.
Now that the bona fides have been established the point becomes...You joined the Giants shortly after TC had made significant changes in his persona with his ballclub and led the team to one of the great underdog Superbowl upsets in history. Then again shortly after you had departed(after playing mediocre ball with NY) Coughlin again led the Giants to yet another Superbowl title.
So it begs the question why should anything you have to say be taken seriously on the subject of Tom and his ability to interact with players? If you had performed better maybe it would have been reflected in your relationship with him. But you didn't so perhaps the reason your personal experience with the coach suffered. His realtionships with the over 100 players that earned Superbowl Championship rings on his watch appears to be on solid ground.
Lets see. 2008...as a rookie...I was 2nd on the team in production % at 31%. Only Tuck was higher than me at 34%.
I got benched halfway through the season. Didn't play again until week 17 vs Vikings...we had clinched, and played subs the 2nd half.
In only the 2nd half - I had 9 tackles, 2 tfls, and 1 sack.
We had a bye, then played Philly in the Divisional round...I watched from the sideline as Westbrook torched our slow LBs on the field.
So, they signed Boley in the offseason (he was less physical than me). I was relegated to spec teams.
2009 I led NY in special teams tackles.
2010 they cut me after week 1 vs Car...I had 4 spec teams tackles in the game, but I was beat for a blocked punt by Greg flipping Hardy.
Lol. Thanks man. I love all of you. Some of you I would love to demonstrate personally to whether or not I'm a "soft linebacker", but...they will never find out ;)
Most mid round picks don't amount to much. They play on special teams(a valuable and important role) and then kick around a few years if they can't crack a starting lineup. The injury attrition rate is horrific and eventually they are replaced with someone younger and healthier. That's the fate of most guys that ever suit up in the NFL. It's an achievement just to get there certainly.
You clearly have unresolved issues with how your coach valued your contributions on and off the field. Or you wouldn't be posting about it on a fan message board. You might want to ask youself why that is.
And what BBI should take notice. Bryan has been attacked, ridiculed, etc etc here right or wrong. But what he's done is he listens to response and doesn't respond with back atchya personal insults.Instead, He tries and certainly does back up his stance with facts and etc . Takes criticism and moves on.
Thanks Bryan for all your input/opinions etc..whether agree or not, it's good to have you post.

You come off as a dick, man. Jesus. You are talking to a real person.
His play as a NY Giant is fair game is it not? I'm entitled to express that opinion if he posts here in a manner critical of the team aren't I? Clearly the organization didn't value his services highly or his tenure with the club would have been longer. That's not to say they are always right because they aren't.
RE: For those also not aware (obviously Bryan is) Â
That said, you say Coughlin is an excellent coach and overrated. It's your opinion of course, but let me draw a parallel here. You laud Mike Shanahan as a brilliant Offensive mind and an excellent HC. Yet, after Elway and Davis left the Broncos I believe he won 1, perhaps 2 playoff games in roughly 15 other seasons. I believe he's living off the reputation that Elway and Davis helped him create and did very little subsequent to their departures.
If anything, he's extremely overrated and his attempt at trying to distance himself from RG III from something he as the HC was almost totally responsible for by indirectly knocking RG III with his statement that Kirk Cousins is capable of winning a SB, which on its face is beyond absurd..
You praise Kyle and the work he's doing in Atlanta as if Atlanta wasn't putting up impressive offensive numbers (with Ryan, White, Jones, Gonzales et al through the years) before he arrived. Offense has not been a problem since Ryan became the franchise, Defense has been..
and thanks for posting. Have learned more here in this thread than I've learned here in the 8 years I've been posting and the 10 years I've been reading here. Thanks again and good to see life is treating you well.
Its more of a self discipline thing. A way to show that you were willing to do what it takes to accomplish a task.
Sacrifice for the good of the team and buy into it.
Its Sad that you didn't understand it.
Bryan, here's a question, if you don't mind another. Â
After Sunday's loss on Philly I was left with one of the biggest feelings of frustration not because we got beaten by a better team, but more because it seemed like the Giants had lapses of intelligence and discipline.
When Coughlin came in he was touted as the task-master, and as you've already discussed, it was that way and maybe in some ways, over the top. I know he adopted the good-will outings and leadership council connections so maybe he relaxed some.
But then I watch a game like Sunday night's at Philly and I wonder ... Has the game passed him by? Would a guy like Mike Tomlin be desirable now? Or is it a player thing - like Damontre Moore being out of his mind at times with apparently no sign of maturing?
Do you have general thoughts about that? As far as where the team is, regarding discipline and how it relates directly to the guy at the helm.
I actually saw BKehl play in college since I went to UNLV and we always played and got whipped by BYU.
I always thought that he was productive enough when he got on the field. He was at least as productive as Reggie Torbor, Danny Clark, Carlos Emmons, and the cast of about 100 linebackers that seems to be constantly evolving yearly.
Do I think TC is a tough guy to work for? Yeah probably. For some reason, he and Kehl didn't seem to get along. It does seem like sour grapes that TC gets criticized and called overrated after Kehl's career is over. But, the gap between the 53rd guy on the roster and the perennial pro bowler probably isn't that great from a talent perspective. So I can see how it might come down to personality conflict from time to time, and so I gotta ask:
When you weren't being played, did you ever go in to see either Spags or TC and be like, "Listen, I'm producing on the field, why aren't I being played?" If so, what was their reaction?
Thank you!! I mean that.
That was a priority to me. Its the same reason I am here now. I think athletes owe it to be accessible.

Shoot. Flippin Eli.
I think he is at times brilliant.
then at times he is one of the worst in the league.
I just spent a whole text thread among some former BYU players arguing Eli is more clutch than all the other Qs in the league.
He also sucks more when it doesn't matter. So I don't know...Eli is sporadic.
Hate to have him week 1-17. Love to have him down 4 with 3 minutes to go. Love to have him in the playoffs.
It's cool you would post here and address this.
