Q: How would you describe this season, which is has obviously been a difficult one for you, but when you look at the football team, how do you describe it?
A: Disappointed. You want to make the playoffs but we didn’t this year unfortunately and that was basically it.
Q: What are your thoughts on Coach [Tom] Coughlin?
A: He’s a great coach, he’s determined, motivator, father figure and consistent at everything he does since the day that I got here. Those guys told me about him and I learned and actually got to experience Coach Coughlin for who he is.
Q: Do you believe a change is needed?
A: I don’t think so. At the end of the day it’s all about players and we didn’t do a great job this year. We didn’t give the extra effort and we didn’t finish those close games that we had. You go back and see those close games that we needed to be in the playoffs but we didn’t finish it off. We played the best of the best and like I said those close games really count.
Q: Do you think you’ll be back here next year?
A: Who knows? I don’t know where I’m going to be. Hopefully I am [here] but wherever I am at I’ll be ready to go in full effect.
Q: As far as your offseason, will you need more surgery on your hand?
A: I have one more surgery, I don’t know when I’m going to do it, but I’m going to do it as soon as possible. I’m pretty sure you’ll hear about it. That’s basically it for me as far as rehab.
Q: What will you tell your agent as in terms of getting the business done in terms of a time frame? Do you want to have this done sooner than later? Do you really want to test true free agency? How will you like to handle it?
A: I’m not getting into all that right now. All I can say is that they’re going to handle that on the business side.
Q: Did Coach [Coughlin] give any indication on his future?
A: Not really.
Q: Did he [Coughlin] talk to you guys since yesterday, what did he say?
A: As a group, we just had a team meeting. He talked to us as a group, thanked us for everything saying we were great players, the effort was there, but we just didn’t get the job done. As any coach you want to make the postseason but we didn’t unfortunately and it’s a disappointment. It’s been four years in a row now.
Q: Was he [Coughlin] emotional at all when he talked to you guys?
A: No, Coach Coughlin is always Coach Coughlin. He’s going to be straight blunt with it, he’s not going to sugarcoat anything, he’s going to keep it original and that’s what he did.
I hope Mara stays true to his convictions that changing coaches is not the answer especially with the way things went down this year with all the key injuries yet being so close to beating great teams in key games.
You could almost pin it all on that bad call in the first Dallas game.
He's an immature, me - first, lazy and undisciplined player.
I told you all this over a year ago but instead was called every name in the book.
I told you AGAIN when he went A-Team on his hand over the summer.
How can people support re-signing him I have no idea.
Go get your 3.5 sacks a year on the Redskins Sir Stubs a Lot.
Looking forward to seeing how Giants handle it.
He might have worn the uniform but he isn't a Giant.
